well as for religions how about jehovas witnesses who don't believe in blood transfusions based on their interpretation of the bible?
how about religions prominent in ancient greece and rome that believed we needed our organs for the after life?
and i don't think that it is some sort of govt. conspiracy to gather our organs or profit from them, it's no conspiracy.it is an out in the open attempt to make decisions for me and about my body when they have no right to do so.
i've said all along, i am not against organ donation,i carry an organ donar card and would gladly choose to accept a donation. but the crucial part of all this is that the decision was made by me of my own free will and i do not feel that any governtment or organisation should be allowed to force their will upon others without seeking their consent.

I think the point is that people who have strong feelings that they do NOT want to donate their organs will feel strongly enough that they will actively opt out for religous reasons or whatever. But at the moment the majority of people ARE in favour but haven't gotten around to registering their wishes and there have been cases of loved ones refusing permission even though the potential donor WAS in favour.
