The suspect bomb in London.... but this comment really annoyed me. It feels vaguely racist and yet I am not sure it is..

All options, including the Irish, are open at this stage," said the source.

Personally, I think DC (that's dominiconnor not daddycool) only posts to piss people off. His posts make Xenia sound normal.

BreeVanDerCamp · 29/06/2007 22:39

B&F good point.

I will go and get a glass of wine now.

I agree, HD. I also wouldn't put it past him to fabricate things. I know that's an awful thing to say, but he's got a long and nasty history of having comments deleted for being racist and derogatory.

Desiderata · 29/06/2007 22:40

But domini is Irish. He hates his own race. Baffling to me, but there are loads of English people on here who can't stand waving the flag of St George, or singing Jerusalem, or eating cucumber sandwiches.

'I hate the English. They're a load of self-serving, imperialist, uptight wankers. They look awful, they're fat, they never take up a foreign language, they always expect every one to speak English, their army are a bunch of murdering bastards.'

I here it all the time on here. I take it with a pinch of salt (most of the time).

Carmenere · 29/06/2007 22:40

Bree is justifiably upset that mnhq have deliberately chosen to allow DC's hate filled rant to remain. It is a very poor show imo and it is correct to say that if it was a rant about another more obvious racial minority it would have been deleted

Well, you've been around long enough to see enough of it, too, hat, and it's NOT acceptable. No matter what.

binkleandflip · 29/06/2007 22:41

Thatta girl, Bree, wine is ALWAYS a good idea this time on a friday eve!! [GRIN] In fact, I shall join you!

CountTo10 · 29/06/2007 22:42

So why give space to racists? Do you need to know an intelligence source is a generalist or unintelligent enough to differentiate between a terrorist unit and a race? To stamp racism out, we should not give it the spotlight it craves. All you do then is allow it to breed. It's too easy to hide behind freedom of speech sometimes. Whilst it is something we have the privalege of and fight hard to defend, so should we apparantly have it regards equality and stamping out racism - when one allows the other, how does that work? I do understand what you are saying, but I don't think it's that straight forward and I don't believe that was the BBC's motives.

BreeVanDerCamp · 29/06/2007 22:44

Lets try this.

I suppose, I took offence at the the first time they tried to kill me as a 5 year old kid.
I was in a toy shop, and the decided that made me a legitimate target.

Although my family referred to themselves as , I rejected that idea very young. It wasn't just they way they murdered kids and tortured them, lots of degenerate races do that.

It's the fact that most other homicidally insane races do it to the enemy. The labelled me as a Catholic, which and as such that meant that one gang of Christians thought of me as one of their people.
But it wasn't personal, the IRA killed and murdered far more of their "own side@ than they ever killed Brits, indeed they killed far more Catholics than the British did.

I've seen the riots conducted by the Wasn't impressed.

That is my last post on the subject.

And MN towers words fail me they really do.

OP posts:
Desiderata · 29/06/2007 22:45

I disagree, Carmernere. MN Towers were right to allow dc's comments to remain.

Freedom of Speech. He did not personally offend anyone, so his comments should remain.

willow2 · 29/06/2007 22:46

As I understand it, there are a handful of people who work on MN and they don't work 24/7. It is Friday night, so surely it's not impossible that, rather than deciding the Irish are fair game, they've actually turned off their computers and gone out for the evening?

Desiderata · 29/06/2007 22:47

And how would you feel, Bree, if your five year old was put it the same situation?

Carmenere · 29/06/2007 22:47

Cheers for your support there Des

BreeVanDerCamp · 29/06/2007 22:49

I certianly would not condemn an entire nation Desi.

OP posts:
GibbonInARibbon · 29/06/2007 22:49

I felt it was offensive and I took it personally.

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 29/06/2007 22:50

so the bbc should gloss over any offensive views it encounters - no matter where - so as not to offend anyone?

'the bbc's motives' are journalistic and its journalism is built on impartiality. i'm not saying the bbc is perfect or that it always gets everything right but this is a straightforward example of some people wanting to shoot the messenger. it was not the bbc who used this term. a bbc reporter quoted it. any outrage should be directed at the source.

or are you suggesting the bbc has sinister motives?

HappyDaddy · 29/06/2007 22:50

Desiderata, you condemn an entire nation's people because of the actions of a few?

Very clever, very 2007. Grow up.

BreeVanDerCamp · 29/06/2007 22:51

Yes W2 you are right. I am just incandescent with rage and by default have totally lost all track of time.

I am genuinely to discover it is nearly 11.00 I really thought it was about 9.30 ish

Upwind · 29/06/2007 22:52

Mumsnet seem to have decided that Bree's mild response to DominiConnors hateful racist post should be deleted but that his post should remain. That makes me both and .

HappyDaddy · 29/06/2007 22:52

Bree, sorry for not saying hello after your post (much earlier). I've only just seen it.

Hello.

Desiderata · 29/06/2007 22:52

Lol! And from what have you extrapolated that?

SaintGeorge · 29/06/2007 22:53

If my 5 year old was put in that position, I would hate and rant at the individuals who put him in that position. I would quite possibly want to hunt them down and strangle them with my bare hands.

I would NOT transfer those feelings onto anyone of the same racial background as those individuals. That would be stupid, useless and downright bloody racist. Just like the offending post is.
