seems like a massive payout...

ELR · 26/06/2007 11:15

im not disputing that

Wolfgirl · 26/06/2007 11:16

no icod, cubs didnt turn out ginge - would have thought one of them did. who knows the law of science - hey.

Blu · 26/06/2007 11:17

Exactement, JeremyVile.

And yes i have heard many people talk of being subjected to nasty comments because thety are 'ginger' (not auburn), and heard many people making nasty coments about peope because they are giger. really nasty things, and automatically discounting them as friends, partners etc etc.

But as someone who hasn't endured this, Wolfgirl, you feel able to decide what other people should put up with?

JeremyVile · 26/06/2007 11:18

Ha!

I thought when cod said cubs it was a mistake and she meant cuffs....
now i see it really was cubs.

Oh.

Wolfgirl · 26/06/2007 11:18

NO Enid, you wouldnt do that. you wouldnt be able to resist me! moth to a light, that'd be you! and you'd come back to my place - crack the wine, tell me your woes, jokes and slate the world. And Id say now now Enid....

Id be one of those friends... who raises an eyebrow of distain, and then pour you another glass.

clink clink

Wolfgirl · 26/06/2007 11:20

Blu - what are you talking about. clarify yourself! me no understand!

Marina · 26/06/2007 11:25

OK wolfgirl.
Blu and plenty others took your "it's just a lot of old tosh" remark to mean that because you have never been teased about your hair colour, therefore this never happens.
Something we disagree with. Speaking from experience and from reading that pretty clear-cut article.
Do you understand now?

Wisteria · 26/06/2007 11:33

Well I was called coppernob and duracell at school and work for years - tbh I can think of far worse insults! As for the collar and cuffs etc, as others have said that is just what blondes etc get all the time and I used to get it both barrels. I was always told it was character building to be teased..

I'm glad she won her case as it was unfair of her to be dismissed for being off work sick but I've never had a problem being a ginga; IME most people like it! Certainly don't appreciate her comments about 'it's not nice to be ginger' - she should visit Italy, the Italian men go wild for it!

Also, I have a Turkish friend with lovely dark red hair and he said it is not a particularly uncommon hair colour there!

MadMumsy · 26/06/2007 11:50

I am a redhead also and have always had lots of lovely comments about my hair. After all, if hair is looked after, it is a womans 'crown and glory' as my Mum would say.
My son is a redhead also but not the girls - although they do have a tinge of red in their hair - you can see it in the sun more. We all go much lighter in the sun and in fact quite blonde - prefer the red though.

MadMumsy · 26/06/2007 11:52

I heard once that Mick Hucknall did a concert and all redheads got in free but they had to prove that they were genuine redheads . I will leave it to your imagination how they proved it!!

jofeb04 · 26/06/2007 15:10

lol, I should have done this with my previous employer. Due to the teasing involved as I'm ginger, I left the company!

singingmum · 26/06/2007 15:20

Yes bullying of redheads does exist. The girl my ds has a crush on has been regularly bullied at school to the point where her father has had to contact the school to try and stop it.
There was a story in the news a while back about a family who were all redheads who were tormented so much that they had to move house and area.
So yes if you have red hair and not been bullied you've been lucky

Wolfgirl · 26/06/2007 15:45

Then I must have been spared!!!!!!!!!! Im sorry to hear about the little girl singingmum, and about the family of red heads. It perplexes me tbh why it has to happen. Cant fathom it meself. I know Catherine Tate did a comedy sketch about red heads, accept I didnt find it amusing or remotely funny - might have been the acting, script and lack of jokes.

I hear regularly about boys being teased, but I dont hear of girls, seriously I dont. I have teenage step kids too, and when they visit they dont hold back with what they consider to be a chav etc, but never any mention of ginge minges. And please! dont think they would hold back because i have red hair. Oh no, DSS explained the acronym GYM to me once - gross young mum, and did I want a T-shirt. Slap applied accordingly! but smiled and soothed the slap after cos it did say 'young' LOL

I stand corrected if it goes on. And its not a case of Im alright Jack, I genuinely do not hear of girls being bullied for having red hair. blimmin eh!

tabither · 26/06/2007 15:50

I once asked a co worker what colour his pubes were and he pulled a handful out and put them on my desk

wombat2 · 26/06/2007 15:55

I've got red hair. Haven't experienced a lot of bullying, but people do seem to expect you to have a short temper or be generally fiery!

jellyjelly · 26/06/2007 17:35

I am a red head and i suffered for years with bullying for the colour of my hair. It was awful. I am now 29 and i dont get picked on but i do get called ginger and i am not at all. People seem to think redheads are ginger.

I am glad she got a payout.

I love my hair now.

paulaplumpbottom · 26/06/2007 18:18

I don't understand what the British have against redheads anyway

Kevlarhead · 26/06/2007 18:24

Could be worse

paulaplumpbottom · 26/06/2007 18:24

Thyey are beautiful children. Poor family.

Wisteria · 26/06/2007 18:28

I find it really hard to believe that they are being bullied to that degree purely on colour of hair; honestly I do!

paulaplumpbottom · 26/06/2007 18:30

Why not? People get bullied because of their skin color which is just as stupid

nomdeplume · 26/06/2007 18:32

some people are just cunts.

absolute fucking cunts
