I don't think Hugh is a billionaire. It's all relative, but what do I know.

Aloha · 25/06/2007 16:02

Yeah, Hugh Grant is only a multimillionaire. She wouldn't want to end up with a loser like that would she

And that moneygrabbing Mel B. She had a baby with a penniless dancer.

MelB was a carefree ingenue when she fell for her dancer. She's grown up since then.

Can you tell I'm cynical.

nightowl · 25/06/2007 16:04

and the point i was trying to make was that she obviously wasn't in it for the money with the first one as apparently, her first husband had no money!

fuzzywuzzy · 25/06/2007 16:05

Speedy, but how many high profile cases have there been with extremely rich women marrying not so rich men and then getting divorced.
Also women tend to be the main carer of the children...... didn't Xenia's husband get a big settlement (or did I misread that on here a while back??).

I remembered reading somewhere at some point during the Liz/Bing thing that Liz had been on antibiotics which made her pill fail.
She doesn't tend to date paupers does she, if she wanted to live off rich men without committing to them she'd have had a shed load of kids by now I would have tohught.

JoolsToo · 25/06/2007 16:06

and donkey is so nice too .......

meandmyflyingmachine · 25/06/2007 16:06

"Women married to rich men do better in the divorce settlement than men married to rich women, as far as I can see."

Not according to Xenia.

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 16:06

he's a tosser.

poor kids.

not just this one, but all his other ones, too.

meandmyflyingmachine · 25/06/2007 16:06

Ah- x post with fuzzywuzzy

speedymama · 25/06/2007 16:09

Absolutely Expat. That's why I don't understand why grown women fall for them time and time again. Hence, why I don't feel sympathy for them because they are not impressionable teenagers. What did they expect?

withoutdaddy · 25/06/2007 16:12

what do they tell the children when they grow up eh? 'oh daddy made me look like a money grabing whore, he didnt believe he was your daddy, thats why your story is all over the newspapers'. i'll put money on it that it wont be murphy or bing that has to tell them!

speedymama · 25/06/2007 16:14

Yeah, that's why you keep the story going by selling it to a sleb rag.

Aloha · 25/06/2007 16:15

Yeah, it's all HER fault. Of course.

speedymama · 25/06/2007 16:15

Responsibility is required on both sides.

nightowl · 25/06/2007 16:16

speedymama, contraception can fail. dd is the result of one such incident.

the first post i ever made on mumsnet was when i was pregnant, and dd's dad had buggered off and left me. i was at the end of my tether. i was asked by one poster "was i sure i didn't get pg on purpose to try and trap him or compete with his ex who he had a child with?"

it stung.

its not something you forget either and i have avoided that poster like the plague for four years now, cant even bear to speak to her although she doesn't know who i am.

she knew eff all about me, yet still felt she could judge.

thats why i dont like some of the comments on here.

Aloha · 25/06/2007 16:17

This isn't abotu RESPONSIBILITY - Liz an and Mel aren't whining about taking total, full and complete responsibility for their children, are they? No. They are getting on with raising them. This is about some tosser of a man deliberatly humiliating and degrading and abandoning the mother of their child, and publicly humiliating their child before it is even born.

Kewcumber · 25/06/2007 16:17

are "celebrity" women less deserving of sympathy when dating shits than mumsnetters? A lot of us have done it, and yes we should probably have known better. Doesn't excuse publically denying the parenthood of your child with little reason and no evidence.

meandmyflyingmachine · 25/06/2007 16:19

I am the product of failed contraception

withoutdaddy · 25/06/2007 16:20

in the case of mel b, murphy announced on live tv 'who knows who's child that is' so no slating for him then and his deplorable actions? she would not have needed to go to a celeb rag had he stepped up to the plate. she had every right to defend herself. if she had hidden away no doubt the newspapers would have slated her and cast doubt too.

nightowl · 25/06/2007 16:20

me too flyingmachine

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 16:21

My sister got pregnant whilst on the combined Pill, which she was taking as directed and had not been ill or on any other meds. And again on Depo.

It happens!

Kewcumber · 25/06/2007 16:22

I'm no fan of "kiss and tell" stories but sometimes (and I do think in this case it excuses it) it is the only way for someone like MelB to get her story out in a controlled way.

nightowl · 25/06/2007 16:23

i dont think she had much of a choice did she?

speedymama · 25/06/2007 16:24

I have deplored Murphy's despicable behaviour. Anybody would.
