If you can do ONE thing to protect children

have a look here

If you want to do ONE thing to protect children (and it really will), buy only fair trade chocolate, or that on the 'good chocolate guide' here. This is a concrete thing you can do which WILL help protect children.

I don't want this to be another of 'those' threads, but it seems we all want to protect children and this is a really easy thing we can all do. Read the webpage, and have a think. It will make a difference to children!

It is heartening to see how many Fair Trade products are out there now.I bought jam this week.

I put Fair Trade chocolate into my dd's party bags and quite a few parents appreciated it.

southeastastra · 12/05/2007 15:32

lidl are are starting a fair trade line too this week

Rantum · 12/05/2007 15:32

I used to buy Green & Blacks but it no longer has the fairtrade logo on it - does that meant that it is not ethically sourced anymore?

Anyone know?

percypig · 12/05/2007 15:32

Good thread

FrannyandZooey · 12/05/2007 15:34

Maya Gold is fairtrade but I don't think other G+B products are

paulaplumpbottom · 12/05/2007 15:34

Rantum · 12/05/2007 15:35

So what is the best fairtrade chocolate?

I don't like the co-op range - I find it bland, even the dark choccie!

i got some asda fairtrade drinking chocolate this week and it was heavenly.

great thread TS

tortoiseSHELL · 12/05/2007 16:24

It's just something that's SO easy to do, just requires a bit of thought at the shop, but it really could make a difference. Apparently 50% of chocolate is produced using trafficked child slave labour.

I've just realised that not all Green and Black's is fairtrade, I'd somehow been under the misapprehension that it is. I will have to check more carefully.

I bought my daughter a fair trade jacket in Sainsbury's last week. I didn't realise it was FC at first but it is very nice.

twinsetandpearls · 12/05/2007 17:31

the fairtrade cotton babylothes in marks are lovely.

We buy as much as we can fairtrade, including gifts. I have bought some lovely fairtrade jewellery and bought dd some lovely things for her bedroom.
