Madeleine McCann - we need YOUR help to try and find this little girl.

This is slipping from the news and the police are starting to scale down their seraches.

Evidence seems to suggest that Madeline may have been taken to Spain and yet very few people out there are aware of what has happened or what she looks like etc.

We need to send as many emails as we can to Spanish businesses with a poster attachment and highlight this case.

I need mumsnetters to volunteer.

I have called in sick today to get this started but this is a massive task and I cannot do it on my own.

Please let me know if you can help.

Of course they must, Clutteredup, but that does not mean every effort should not be made in this case.

LucyJones · 12/05/2007 21:46

I can see the logic I'm afraid.... they just don't have the time or resurces to cover every tragic story in every country every time I'm afraid

quietmouse · 12/05/2007 21:47

yes, I'm sure they do.

But a lot of the coverage the McCann's have had for Madeleine is through their own doing.

Sadly, as with all things in this life, you have to fight and keep at it.

Maybe some parents don't?

I don't think there are that many 3 year olds abducted by a complete stranger, from their bed, in a foreign country. That is pretty unique.

Most of the missing children in the UK, as I said before, have been taking overseas by a parent and are then reported 'missing' by the other parent, or are non accompanied minors or children running away from the care system. And they are normally older.

clutteredup · 12/05/2007 21:47

i do agree scary, and think the response for Madeleine is amazing, i was just pointing out the McCann's aren't the only ones out there and won't unfortunately be the last either -omg isn't it just such a horrible world we live in.

mumemma · 12/05/2007 21:48

clutteredup, sorry but it's hardly 'millions'.

pinkchick - where did you read about them searching another apartment?

Can I be really pedantic and ask people to put any developments on the thread for news updates and keep this one for the poster campaign. Thanks - sorry if I sound bossy.

mummyto2littleprincess · 12/05/2007 21:54

how the hell can anyone leave there 2 and 3yrs old children alseep just so they can go and get something to eat
i would never do that
but its sad and hope they get her back she looks a lovley little girl

clutteredup · 12/05/2007 21:54

ok mumemma , hundreds then but ykwim, re news updates however the poster campaign was also mentioned on the same programme and another i was listening to earlier on, it didn't specifically mention MN but its getting a high profile and the comments were made that eurovision was approached and turned down so well done mners its getting good publicity.

WestCountryLass · 12/05/2007 22:24

MT2LP

How dare you sit in judgement of Madeleines parents. Don't you think they are asking themselves that very question now? Don't you think they are being punished enough for that decision?

It is not actually their fault that a person with ulterior motives chanced upon their family and took advantage of the situation.

And if you are going to sit in judgement of them then I will sit in judgement of you, you class a bitch!

Sorry to everyone else but that post really pissed me off.

mummyto2littleprincess · 12/05/2007 22:26

no no im not blaming them but just saying the shouldnt of left them alone
sorry

Frizbe · 12/05/2007 22:27

that's enough of that please, take it to another thread.

mummyto2littleprincess · 12/05/2007 22:29

sorry everyone for what i said
i do truly hope they find this little girl soon safe and sound

i think next time i should just keep my mouth shut!!

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 12/05/2007 22:30

re-the eurovision thing. If they can't be bothered to do it for one child, what hope do the hundreds of others have? isn't one childs life important enough?

LilyLoo · 12/05/2007 22:35

I suppose if they do it for one then others will ask and it would be too difficult to post everyone's request

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 12/05/2007 22:36

perhaps they should try it, then people would realise just how many kids are going missing & take it more seriously

LucyJones · 12/05/2007 22:36

exactly lilyloo.Ther may be children missing in Armenia for all we know... and they won't know of this terrible case

LilyLoo · 12/05/2007 22:41

But if they do it now then they can't ever say no to anyone. As each child is as important as the next. What would probably be good would be instead/as well as the intros in between maybe a quick advert of a child missing in each country instead

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 12/05/2007 22:44

might kill the eurovision mood a bit - here is a missing child followed by a cheerfully crap song from (insert eurovision country here).

we could do with a europe wide version of crimewatch for missing kids maybe..oh it's called the internet

LilyLoo · 12/05/2007 22:46

True it is perhaps unrealistic for them to get involved.

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 12/05/2007 22:51

it might have raised her profile a bit.

LilyLoo · 12/05/2007 22:52

Completely agree but they would argue why Madeleine.

mumemma · 12/05/2007 22:55

Watching now, it's difficult to see where they could have slotted it in, apart from those dreadful bits from the green room with that very unfunny girl running around. The mood of the programme is not appropriate really but maybe a short clip right at the beginning or end of the programme with Madeleine and some sort of recognition of the number of children that go missing across Europe could have been done.

I think the idea for a Europe wide Crimewatch type programme is actually a good one but, as has been shown in Portugal, so many countries have different laws about disclosing information, it looks like it just wouldn't be possible.

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 12/05/2007 22:56

because finding one child gives hope that others can be found too,

because finding her & the people that took her could stop them from doing it again.

because if it works for her it could work for others..

LilyLoo · 12/05/2007 22:57

Yes your right but what about the missing childen in Finland ? We don't know about them.

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 12/05/2007 23:00

that wouldn't be because of lack of publicity would it????

LilyLoo · 12/05/2007 23:03

Yes it would but my point is where would the eurovision contest draw the line on whose plight they choose.
