Madeleine McCann - we need YOUR help to try and find this little girl.

This is slipping from the news and the police are starting to scale down their seraches.

Evidence seems to suggest that Madeline may have been taken to Spain and yet very few people out there are aware of what has happened or what she looks like etc.

We need to send as many emails as we can to Spanish businesses with a poster attachment and highlight this case.

I need mumsnetters to volunteer.

I have called in sick today to get this started but this is a massive task and I cannot do it on my own.

Please let me know if you can help.

have you targetted ferry operators and airlines?

TwirlyN · 12/05/2007 08:52

Spent most of last night thinking about this, and wondering if I should post. so here i am sharing my thoughts. I think/feel it would be useful if the family had a picture of Madeleine with her hair tied back. We are looking for a beautiful little girl with long blond hair. Sorry to say she may now be dressed like a little boy, with a hair cut.

Would it be worth it to get in touch with John Walsh? I know he is USA based but he is a good guy and will help if there is anyway he can.

I don't know if you guys know who he is. John's little boy was abducted from a shopping mall in 1982. Back then the media, the local police and other law enforcement organizations were pretty lackluster about getting involved in helping to find missing kids. John's son was murdered shortly after he was abducted. But it was 2 weeks before John and his wife knew what had happened to their son.

He was shocked as to how many kids were going missing back then and was angry about how little was being done about it. He has been working hard ever since and seems to live for helping out in missing children's cases. He is very famous and known worldwide. I know someone who might be able to pass this story on to him that's all.

Like I said, he is US based but he might be able to help somehow. He likes to go medieval on law enforcement agencies not doing their bit for missing kids, or he used to anyway. A lot of bad guys have been caught and many missing kids have been found as a result of John's hard work.

What do you think?

Astrophe · 12/05/2007 08:54

can you lot jump on the thread asking for poster links on the MN home page and keep it bumped (assuming you think its a good idea!) please? Its in 'site stuff'

jampot · 12/05/2007 09:00

twirly i think you have a point there

TwirlyN · 12/05/2007 09:07

only from hearing a friends experience ina shopping centre, her little girl was found in the toilets already dressed as a boy, and the hair cutting was happening.

ChocolateFace · 12/05/2007 09:51

Anaoh, If you know someone who mihgt be able to pass this on to John Walsh please, please go ahead.

mumemma · 12/05/2007 10:50

News that the posters are being distributed on the Costa Del Sol

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 12/05/2007 11:39

haven't read the whole thread but I sent an e-mail to all on my mailing list titled 'please help the search for madeleine mccann' with a link to the website given by another mumsnetter ceop and a request to pass it on.

note it is also in Arabic, it's not infeasible she could be taken to N.Africa via Gibraltar or otherwise.

I understand some people are lobbying for publicity at Eurovision tonight as it has a massive audience..have not figured out where the contact us section is on their website..any thoughts here

mumemma · 12/05/2007 12:56

Bump for anyone logging on over the weekend.

Please distribute the poster from Sky or the link to CEOP to whoever you can, particularly anyone in Spain or Morocco.

ellabell · 12/05/2007 13:08

have just logged on so apolgises if this has already been suggested, but the grand prix is being held in spain this weekend if anyone has any contacts in that field

ThatBeetroot · 12/05/2007 13:09

will se what I can do about grand prix -

likemylife · 12/05/2007 13:11

Some friends of mine have just flown out to spain last night and i printed off about 50 of the posters for them to hand out/pin up when they get there. Do you think the UK airports would print out posters and hand them out to everybody flying out to spain? Just a suggestion

ScoobyDooooo · 12/05/2007 15:34

I emailed P&O Ferries & have had an email sent back that they have passed it onto someone who can help us with this & i need to wait to hear from them.

BigPantsRule · 12/05/2007 17:03

Great idea about Eurovision. Appeal should be broadcast just before or during the show.(After it is not a good idea - that's when everyone goes to the loo!)

tortoiseSHELL · 12/05/2007 17:04

Just glanced at this thread, if Eurovision were to show the poster, the best time imo would be before the UK, Portugese (if there is one!), Spanish entries.

jampot · 12/05/2007 17:05

dh has told his mum in Alicante to print off posters and get her spanish and ex pat friends to put them up and be aware

tatt · 12/05/2007 17:43

one of the eurovision addressess bounced - others haven't responded. Was committed to being out all day so I am now exhausted and unable to do anything.

paulaplumpbottom · 12/05/2007 17:49

Eurovision is a great idea

tatt · 12/05/2007 18:02

East Midland airport is handing out leaflet apparently, what about other airports that serve Spain and portugal? Anyone got contacts there?

BellaLasagne · 12/05/2007 18:57

BAA website already has an appeal on it's home page.

tortoiseSHELL · 12/05/2007 18:58

If you're doing airports, what about airports in Spain and Portugal?

BellaLasagne · 12/05/2007 19:02

Have sent request to Mark Savage, BBC reporter covering Eurovision tonight, to ask if he can help get an appeal broadcast before Portugese and Spanish songs.

BellaLasagne · 12/05/2007 19:10

Just thought, if we all email him en masse he might be more able to do something.

Go here to email Mark Savage who's in Helsinki covering Eurovision now
