It's just popped up on my phone but doesn't seem to be showing up on BBC or sky sites.
Is America likely to actually have an investigation into why so many?

There are actually there are far more US citizens who are as appalled as we are about this than not.

Even (some of) those who carry personal hand guns feel these large heavy duty weapons are not needed in a domestic setting.

There is a huge movement over there now to lobby local senators & congressmen as they come up to the mid terms to make them realise that if they support the NRA they will lose votes from their usual supporters.

this really shocked me

Stealth apparently there is a co-ordinated walk out by students planned for the 20th April at 10am, it being the aniversary of the Columbine massacre, not sure if that is the same day.

Ban on modified guns, would this be progress or just lip service?

They refused to do this after the Las Vegas shooting. Maybe the NRA have let him?

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2018 07:57

Feels as though they need to be seen to do something. This is a concession. I know little about it but I wonder what impact it will actually have.

The Las Vegas shooter - I believe - had these devices that can turn a rifle into a semi automatic killing machine. I also seem to remember someone (was it a politician) giving them away very soon after as a fingers up to people lobbying to gun control.

Jux · 22/02/2018 00:29

Tighter gun control, let alone getting rid of guns altogether, is a vote loser. So, it'll never happen, or not in any meaningful way. Better MH checks etc are just lip service.

There are so many guns out there now that anyone who wants one will be able to get one, and I'm really not sure who you would deal with that.

Oh no, arm US teachers - brilliant idea! My 60-something sister will be delighted!

redshoeblueshoe · 22/02/2018 11:52

Fekko I was just about to post that. The young man who spoke so movingly about his best friend being murdered. And that fucking twat responds with MORE GUNS.
I despair.
