OrmIrian · 02/05/2007 13:26

The fact that some young women find intelligent, ambitious, interesting, opinionated, successful, adverturous, witty women boooring says a lot about them, not about the role models.

it's not cahoots. she IS a Bush crony

speedymama · 02/05/2007 13:30

Condoleeza Rice grew up in Birmingham Alabama, home of the Klu Klux Klan and segregation. One of her best friends was killed in the bombing of a black church by white supremacists. Segregation taught her that she had to be twice as good and work twice as hard as whites in order to succeed. Her vigorous support for the right to bear arms arises from her acknowledgement that her father would have been lynched by white supremacists if he had not owned his own firearms.

She excelled academically and became the first female, first minority, and youngest Provost at Stanford.

She is an accomplished pianists and has served as a director on a number of boards including Hewlett Packard.

In 2004 and 2005, she was ranked as the most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine and number two in 2006.

The difference between her and Bush plus many of the whites involved in US politics is that she worked her hard to get to where she is whereas Bush and co. use their family meal tickets.

I applaud her accomplishments even though I find her politics distastful.

kimi · 02/05/2007 13:31

I think the fact she is a black woman and not a white man has allowed her to get away with alot and not have people shout evil evil evil at her (that would be sexist/racist and jelous of a black woman with power blah blah blah

kimi · 02/05/2007 13:33

"power" - with it comes responsiblity and I think she's not done many favours for her sisters around the world...

kimi · 02/05/2007 13:38

I think everyone looks at her achiventment as a woman from the minoritys and see only that, not the fact her politics are evil

Eleusis · 02/05/2007 13:39

How many of us would like to live on a ship in war zone a risk capture by the nutter Amadinejad... AGAIN?? Not me, thanks very much. I take my hat off to Faye (and the men with her).

She is a fantastic role model. Dedicating her life to something she believes in.

As a woman I like to see women making good in a so called mans world, and I don't give a flying fig what colour they ar....BUT so much is made out of the fact Rice is a black woman who has got to be so high powered that sometimes her politics are over looked.
I do not think she is a good roll modle and I do not think she is a good person.
