I think it is wrong - but just wondered what other people think?? And if I am being too blinkered in my opinion.

I never said people not in the forces weren't allowed an opinion, I said they'll never know what it's like.

NadineBaggott · 10/04/2007 18:15

The sailors were used by the Iranian government and then used by our government but it's not their fault. Who would really turn down five times their annual salary for a couple of days in the Sun?

OrvilleRedenbacher · 10/04/2007 18:17

Senior bods in the Navy were under tremendous media pressure that's why they allowed it. (So said Lord George Foulks former Minister of Defence)

If our military leaders fold under media pressure we might as well give up now.

It's true. It's not all Boden-buying and coffee morning-going, you know.
Some of it's really a bit rubbish. And as a journalist married to an soldier, I have the worst of both worlds

noddyholder · 10/04/2007 18:26

I am of the Noel Gallagher school of thought that says you know what you are getting into when you join the forces so don't complain when some of the situations actually occur and expect recompense.I know that sounds harsh but awful things happen in thosae situations which are unlikely if you are working in tesco

OrvilleRedenbacher · 10/04/2007 18:27

oh yes
they do die sometimes!

JARM · 10/04/2007 18:27
