Guardian newsflash

The parents of Charlie Gard have said their 11-month-old terminally ill son has died.

More to follow ...

NotMyPenguin · 28/07/2017 18:21

"Why have they announced his death so quickly"

FFS, is there anything that the parents can do that doesn't get pounced on on this board?

Sirzy · 28/07/2017 18:22

Hopefully he is at peace now.

And even more importantly I hope the family can now step back from the media circus and come together and mourn properly.

Bejazzled · 28/07/2017 18:22

So quick...

Hope they can find some peace

TheFairyCaravan · 28/07/2017 18:22

Charlie has died. RIP x

yolofish · 28/07/2017 18:23

for me, the pain issue is paramount. pain with potential for a 'cure' - OK, possibly worth pursuing depending on how much pain and how much the cure would actually deliver. pain with no prospect of meaningful quality of life? seems pointless and cruel to me. I know there are arguments about quality of life actually means, but for me - or my child - it would mean above all the ability to express what we feel. And if at any stage what my child felt in a situation like Charlie's would be paramount. as it is, Charlie cant express anything, and I wish the court judgment had been passed much, much earlier.

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 18:23

sorry x post rip x

oakleaffy · 28/07/2017 18:23

Bless Charlie...6pm news says he died..hope it was a peaceful passing.Little man's spirit is free now ..

11122aa · 28/07/2017 18:24

The telegraph news alert is misleading as it makes it sound Chris and Connie mentioned Final Wish in the sad news statement when they did not.

Bornlazy · 28/07/2017 18:25

I think that what Hirani meant was that he could feel pain (from nail bed pressure) not that he was in pain. GOSH had started Charlie on morphine so I think that they would have had it under control.

Plexie · 28/07/2017 18:26

Just heard it on the radio news. So sad. RIP Charlie.

justthesolution · 28/07/2017 18:26

Little fella, so relieved but so sad too.

Ellie56 · 28/07/2017 18:27

Apparently he went to the hospice yesterday.

So sad. Poor Charlie. May his parents find some peace in the future.

justthesolution · 28/07/2017 18:29

I can imagine that the hospice would have been wonderful and hopefully a great comfort to them. Poor Connie and Chris Sad
