This is a thread following the legal and ethical questions raised by the recent court case involving Charlie Gard.

Please could we refrain from insulting or otherwise "bashing" his parents. It isn't in the spirit of Mumsnet and will get the threads removed.

Please could we also remember that at the heart of this case is a terminally ill baby and his heartbroken parents. There are those participating in and watching this thread for whom these issues are painful. Please let's try and be mindful of them when we post. This isn't a place for name calling or trivialising the very real pain they feel. Many parents of severely disabled children are on here.

• that have been exceptional people with profound disbalities who have had very productive lives , but like you said they had good cognitive function- this doesn't seem same for Charlie though. And I guess that's why the whole debate was about brain development.

I suspect the MRI & EEG this weekend confirmed GOSH's assessment- probably why the parents statement is so guarded today & why she thanked Dr Hirano for visiting Charlie- If it and shown brain development was not effected they would have been on social media & TV etc slagging GOSH again

The pisa lot aren't going quietly (understandable, they did organise a big gathering with blue baloons (bigger than the UK protests).

I agree entirely, I just think that we need to be careful to be clear that it isn't the need for ventilator assistance per se, or the blindness or deafness per se, that lead to the conclusion that his situation is so poor. It is everything taken together, along with the cause of it. Because what we shouldn't have is an erroneous message that those things necessarily hamper quality of life in themselves, as for many people who are otherwise well, they do not.

The Pisa followers had better watch out, they'll be getting a chihuahua set upon them if they don't be quiet!

What are you trying to do how do you know it wasn't for Charlie and why on his page would you go to every post and comment to try and draw attention to this!!!

Yeah, all she's done is show up to the Pisa protest and organise something actually worth photographing, when only about 4 of the UK CA showed up to the UK protests

Can I just say how much I love the internet.

And as Blackpool Tower is Blue anyway..that's like taking a photo of a police siren or something ooo look its blue to it counts!

The papers are reporting that GOSH hasn't change its view after the long meeting today.

All uk ambulances lit up blue for Charlie too.
Which is weird since all the NHS want to "murder" him...

What is the point of all this speculation, gossip and rumour. Please tell me. There is nothing to report, nothing to comment on.

Poor C&C if these are the kindsa people they have around them!

It's embarrassing that those people in italy have done nice things for people in the UK (even if I don't agree with their point of view) and now they're getting school yard treatment back in return!
