Could wiser Mumsnetters please explain it to me.
Thank you.

This Scary Mommies article is interesting:

claig · 29/10/2016 18:39

Here is Judge Nap explaining some of what it is about

PikachuSayBoo · 29/10/2016 18:48

I read somewhere that most amaericans regard Hillary how most Brits regard Cherie Blair.

claig · 29/10/2016 19:17

Here is Judge Jeanine explaining another aspect of it - Clinton Foundation, allegd pay to play etc

We know all about charidees from our own political class and their mates and ex-politicians.

lljkk · 29/10/2016 19:20

Coz the Trump foundation is so blameless & transparent in what it does, after all.

It's all over my FB about Trump facing rape charges, victim = age 13.

claig · 29/10/2016 19:25

'Coz the Trump foundation is so blameless & transparent '

It had nothing to do with unsecured government information or not complying with subpeonas from Congress. Trump is making another speech in Colorado now and is explaining exactly what it is all about.

lljkk · 29/10/2016 19:32

Funny thing is how Claig actually makes me appreciate Xenia. (sigh)

claig · 29/10/2016 19:33

Good, I like Xenia. I miss her contributions.

badabing36 · 29/10/2016 21:06

It also gave her control over what should and should not be provided to the government, made public via freedom of information requests, passed on the Congressional committees, etc.

Yy prh that's the bit that makes people suspicious. Plus some of the stuff that has come out makes her look bad such as this:
www.nbcnews.com/card/erica-garn
er-troubled-over-leaked-clinton-emails-why-would-you-n674576

Plus Trump alleges that she deleted emails after receiving a subpoena, which I think would be illegal if she did it.

I think Trump is vile, but it was very arrogant of Hillary and the democrats to put her forward after all of this came out.

I think if trump did win it would definitely be an anti establishment protest vote.

badabing36 · 29/10/2016 21:10

Sorry cross post.

Thanks for that link Emma.

LockedOutOfMN · 29/10/2016 21:24

Saw this on Twitter earlier from the comedian, David Schneider:
"Poor America. Such a tough choice: a lying, misogynist, racist, dangerous, unpredictable narcissist, or a woman who used the wrong email."

HillaryFTW · 29/10/2016 21:24

Xenia is still around.

LockedOutOfMN · 29/10/2016 21:25

Also Schneider compared the US election situation to when the French "had to" vote for Chirac just to stop Le Pen from winning, which I think isn't an identical situation, but a useful comparison.

claig · 29/10/2016 21:28

'Xenia is still around.'

Great stuff. I saw her under some different names about 6 months ago, but haven't seen her since. Hope she gets stuck in again.

poochiepants · 29/10/2016 21:35

I think also that the content of the government server can be made public (but not content that might compromise national security) - all to do with being open and honest - therefore anyone using a private server (the contents of which cannot be made public without legal intervention) for government business, could be considered to be hiding something.....

Pluto30 · 29/10/2016 21:41

She sent, then deleted, roughly 30,000 emails from a private email setup.

That's more than just one or two emails sent accidentally from the wrong account. That is straight up intentional, and you have to question why she did it.

RiverTam · 29/10/2016 21:42

Regardless of the emails, and the ??? over the Clinton foundation, HRC is still one of the cleanest politicians in Amercia.

So why is she hated so much?

Simple. She's a woman.

The fact that people are prepared to vote for a sex-abusing man over a woman says so much about our society.

M0stlyHet · 29/10/2016 21:42

Locked - I've made that comparison a number of times too. I remember my French friends at the time (they all cared enough to fly back to France to vote) saying "we have to choose between a crook and a fascist - clearly we have to go and vote for the crook." I'm just praying the ratio of Gallic pragmatists to virtue-signalling tumblr numpties among Democrats is high enough that they don't hand it to Trump by default. I honestly think my biggest fear in this election is that some Democrat voters won't realise that a vote for a minor candidate/an abstention is tantamount to a vote for Trump.

Pluto30 · 29/10/2016 21:45

River She's one of the cleanest? Seriously? The emails, Benghazi, the Bill Clinton scandal, the rigging of results against Bernie Sanders in the primary?

She nearly lost to Bernie Sanders for a reason. She's not liked.

claig · 29/10/2016 21:50

This is what the former CIA director said about the security of Hillary's private server. From what he says, it is serious.

"Tuesday on the “Hugh Hewitt Show,” Hayden said, “I just can’t imagine why or how that was permitted” for Clinton to operate a private email server. (RELATED: Revealed: State Dept. Created Classified Email Account For Hillary, But She Never Used It)

Hewitt asked Hayden if he thought the Russians and others “breached” Clinton’s private email server and Hayden said, “Let me just give you the straight from the heart answer. I would lose respect, I would lose all respect for scores of intelligence services around the world if they did not have all the access they wanted to that server. “

Following up, Hewitt asked if the foreign intelligence agencies had access to Clinton’s server in “real time” and Hayden said, “You know, even a server like that in the private sector, isn’t that easy to target. You have to work against it. But let me turn that on its head just a little bit, Hugh. If I were still at NSA and someone came to me and said, ‘We just discovered that the Russian Foreign Minister has a private server. Now it’s just unclassified email on it but we think we can get into it.’ Believe me, we’d have been after that in a heartbeat. I suspect a bunch of others have done the same.”

merrymouse · 29/10/2016 21:51

The Trump foundation has done very little, but it certainly appears that funds have been used inappropriately and illegally.

The Hillary question is 'would Hillary be better than another politician?'

The Trump question is 'would this man be any more incompetent than a man pulled out of a random bar?

Some Americans, it seems, however would really rather be governed by a random bar room brawler than a politician.

M0stlyHet · 29/10/2016 22:04

This graphic of the poll gap is scary It opened up to about 12% after Trump's admission of sexual assault, but has now closed back to 3%. I honestly think Democrats who can't bring themselves to "hold their nose" and vote for Hilary are going to give it to Trump.

LockedOut & M0stlyHet

Yes I remember the "vote for the crook not the fascist" line from a-level French.
