Oh God, I always wish I hadn't read these threads. Poor little mite.

I am shocked at the sentence though, it's a joke, isn't it? I'm not a "hang 'em and flog 'em" type, but these people should never come out.

OrmIrian · 08/02/2007 17:17

I just want to know why they would do this? I really do. Because I don't understand.

saadia · 08/02/2007 17:20

Unbelievable , agree that these people should never be freed. If they can do that to a defenceless child they must be capable of anything.

brandy7 · 08/02/2007 17:24

thank goodness for her granny alerting SS

Saturn74 · 08/02/2007 17:24

A shocking story.
Does anyone know why the parents got different sentences?
I hope this little girl finds happiness with a new family.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 08/02/2007 17:31

I really, really can't understand what would drive someone to do something like that. I really can't. To your own child - why?

chocoroco · 08/02/2007 18:35

poor little thing. i work with kids with CP and a lot of them cannot walk or talk so wouldn't be able to run away or anything. How awful. scum bags. and the sentence what a bloody joke, they will be out in half that time

Carmenere · 08/02/2007 18:37

I have to say that I am usually fairly stoic in the face of horrific news stories but this one has had me in floods of tears this evening I just question the whole human spirit thing, it is utterly saddening to think that parents could behave like this

2shoes · 08/02/2007 18:56

bastards
dh just saw this on the news when he told me I had to tell him to shut up.

wheresthehamster · 08/02/2007 19:27

Hopefully their fellow prisoners will make their incarceration an unhappy one.

Is the child still alive? In the article (I don't want to read it again because it upset me too much)) they way I read it was that the child suffered from cerebral palsy. Implying that the child had died.

charliecat · 08/02/2007 19:30

WTH, shes still alive

Posey · 08/02/2007 19:32

Yes she is still alive.

PeachyClair · 08/02/2007 19:34

Bitch and Bastard, hope they rot.

what else can you say?

wheresthehamster · 08/02/2007 19:43

That's good news. I hope she now gets the love and affection she deserves.

PeachyClair · 08/02/2007 20:01

Yes the Gran was incredibly brave- must ahve been hard to whistle blow on your own child, although of course she had to do it

I hope she is getting support too

LowFatMilkshake · 08/02/2007 20:16

This is all over the news, I dont know what to say - they are lowest of the low, and like thier family member shouted in court I do hope they rot for what they have done.

And I agree with wherethehamster - hopefully fellow inmates will take justice into thier own hands! Perhaps revisit some of the awful thing they did to thier daughter on them!

Sheraz · 08/02/2007 20:22

Pure evil, the pair of them. Shame it was not picked up on earlier. poor baby.

Nightynight · 08/02/2007 21:08

horrible, horrible people, and thank god the granny was courageous enough to shop them.

expatinscotland · 08/02/2007 21:10

My little girl has dyspraxia.

We love her so much.

She needs us even more.

I cried when I saw this story, and I felt her wee hand on my arm and heard her wee voice saying, 'Don't cry, Mummy.'

Poor little girl.

I hope she's with someone who can appreciate her sweet nature.

Greensleeves · 08/02/2007 21:12

I agree expat, my overriding feeling is that I hope she is with someone loving, stable, patient and gentle.

Poor, poor little girl.

pinkandsparkly · 08/02/2007 22:37

I find it impossible to stomach that this little girl was tortured by HER OWN PARENTS. Apparantly her injuries were what they managed to inflict on her in seven weeks. How can anyone be so savage?

I think their fellow inmates may carry out their own form of justice. I didn't think the sentances were anywhere near long enough, I just hope they serve the whole term and don't get released after five minutes.

The thought that they may be free to go and have more children one day fills me with absolute horror.

TwoIfBySea · 08/02/2007 22:42

They should be sterilised, by force if necessary.

I hope that poor little girl has lots of love now, the fact that the evil that was her parents could do this shows that they do not deserve to ever inflict pain on another child, let alone be allowed to have any more children. She needed them, her illness meant they should have given her everything they were obviously incapable of. Love and compassion.

BassMama · 08/02/2007 23:20

Bring back corporal punishment for people like this.
I also hope that the other prisoners give them a little extra punishment as other people have suggested.

That poor little girl.

Why did the mother get an extra year than the father?
