I'm terrified that her ill health will mean she loses the presidential race- she's been doing so well! God help us all if trump gets in.

Why is 70 too old?

53rdAndBird · 12/09/2016 22:49

What is your point? That anyone that presents themselves as anti-establishment is a pro to Mussolini? So that would mean we should always support the establishment, for which, read the elite.

No. Like I said: perhaps familiarise yourself a little with Mussolini? His approach was very, very, uncannily in many ways, similar to Trump's.

As for 'the elite' and 'the establishment' - I prefer to support democracy, in general. Although my definition of 'the elite' would include billionaires like Trump, but hey, perhaps I'm just behind the times on that.

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 22:53

He said there should be 'some sort of punishment' for women who have an abortion. Pretty unforgivable.

Please don't patronise me about Mussolini. Unless I'm allowed to patronise you about confirmation bias.

The elite and the establishment mean to me now the globalist elite and establishment - the cohort of people who are united in seeking to fuck over the ordinary family. All - ostensibly - in the name of social causes and human justice.

5OBalesofHay · 12/09/2016 22:56

Are you all students?

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 22:58

Ha that is actually very funny 50 Smile

53rdAndBird · 12/09/2016 23:02

Please don't patronise me about Mussolini. Unless I'm allowed to patronise you about confirmation bias.

You can patronise away if you like? I'm saying that Mussolini and Trump have more in common than presenting themselves as anti-establishment.

The elite and the establishment mean to me now the globalist elite and establishment - the cohort of people who are united in seeking to fuck over the ordinary family. All - ostensibly - in the name of social causes and human justice.

Mmmm. I don't disagree that ordinary people get fucked over by the people at the top of the ladder, with depressing regularity, all over the world. But, who's the "ordinary family" here? Maybe I think my ordinary family's getting fucked over by conservative taxation policies that are draining the welfare state, and you think your ordinary family's getting fucked over by the government demanding more of your hard-earned wages by increasing taxation levels, etc etc etc.

Ill Hilary or healthy Trump?

I'll go with Hilary!

The alt media will be just as corrupt and manipulative as mainstream media - except mainstream media will have more verification filters in place.

As to speculation that Hilary has something more serious. So what if she does? She obviously feels fit enough otherwise she wouldn't be running. I'm sure she can trust her own judgement on that.
If Hilary does have to pull out then yes it would be fascinating to see what happens next. I don't think it would be in Trumps favour.
President Michelle Obama? Yes. I can see that. Not now Obvs, but one day.

claig · 12/09/2016 23:05

'He said there should be 'some sort of punishment' for women who have an abortion. Pretty unforgivable.'

No, you have to follow Trump to understand what that was all about. Trump is a liberal, he supported Clinton, in interviews before he stood, he was not anti-abortion. But when he started running as a Republican, he had to court the Evangelical vote and they are anti-abortion, so he toghened his position but everyone knows he doesn't believe it and is only courting votes. Trump had to beat Cruz who was anti-abortion. Trump is not a politician and a details man so he doesn't know half the arguments the politicians use everyday, so the media interview caught him out when he said are you against abortion or seomething similar and he said yes, so the interviewer then asked him so should there be a punishment for abortion and he hummed and dithered and said "yes I think so" but that was only because they caught him. Later he changed it to the doctors would be punished, but everyone knows he doesn't believe a word of it, he has to appear tough to win the Evangelicals in order to beat Cruz. You have to understand that Trump doesn't mean haf the things he says even about immigration. We will find out what he really does if he wins.

CandyMcJingles · 12/09/2016 23:07

Lots of excuses there.

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 23:08

Ok I'll buy that but Pence is grim.

katemess12 · 12/09/2016 23:09

She's been in poor health for years. She had big health problems during the 2008 (or 2012, can't remember now) election campaign.

Clinton can't afford to get caught out for hiding something else from the public.

Joe Biden would be infinitely more popular than her, anyway. If she forfeited now and he ran instead, I have no doubt that he would win. As it is, I think it's a 50:50 chance of Clinton or Trump winning.

53rdAndBird · 12/09/2016 23:12

So if you can't believe half the things Trump says, how do you know which half to believe? If he'd blatantly lie about abortion to impress people like the evangelicals, how do you know he's not lying about The Establishment to impress people like you?

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 23:12

Until this I would have folding money on an easy trump win. The polls are nonsense - if they're showing a tie, it means he is way ahead. And he would still beat HC no problem. Now against Biden? Not so sure.

claig · 12/09/2016 23:13

'Ok I'll buy that but Pence is grim.'

Yes, I agree, Pence is grim.

They say that Trump chose Pence in order to placate the Republican Establishment and get them on his side. Pence is Establishment and they like him. Trump is only interested in winning, by near enough whatever means, because his only real goal is to sort the economy out, end the free trade deals, bring jobs back, rebuild America and stop the wars. Trump doesn't know the details of most policies which is why it is painful to watch him being interviewed in case he messes it up which is why Hillary thinks she will beat him in the debates. But everyone knows that Trump hasn't got a clue and wings every answer so they don't care that he does that.

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 23:13

I hear your narrative all the time 53. All the time. It's all a bit trite for me.

53rdAndBird · 12/09/2016 23:16

My narrative? Which narrative?

claig · 12/09/2016 23:16

'So if you can't believe half the things Trump says, how do you know which half to believe? If he'd blatantly lie about abortion to impress people like the evangelicals, how do you know he's not lying about The Establishment to impress people like you?'

You don't know what is true and what is lies. Most of it is lies, but you have to take it on trust. That is what Trump fans do, they know he doesn't believe half the things he says, but they hope he believes the other half and brings jobs and prosperity back.

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 23:18

The verging on regressive left wing knee-jerk narrative I guess.

That's a bit rude. No offence to you I'm sure you're a nice person. But you asked and that's what I think.

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 23:19

Claig how remarkable are your posts.

53rdAndBird · 12/09/2016 23:20

Anything left of Trump is left-wing now? Jesus, I knew global politics was lurching to the right, but that's a bit drastic.

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 23:22

I think we both know I didn't say that. But knock yourself out having fun with it.

53rdAndBird · 12/09/2016 23:27

So what was I did say that was regressively left-wing?

claig · 12/09/2016 23:28

BBC Newsnight interviewing someone from America. BBC snookered when he said he almost died from pneumonia and pneumonia is extremely contagious so if Hillary had pneumonia why was she running around kissing babies at the 911 commemoration. BBC then ended the interview as quickly as humanly possible.

53rdAndBird · 12/09/2016 23:29

(I mean, I am fairly left-wing, so it's not like I consider it an insult or anything - I'm just genuinely curious about what you think my narrative is.)

5OBalesofHay · 12/09/2016 23:33

Why is she wrong to be poorly?
