Chilcot report...

Feels like a 'you're a naughty/idiotic boy but not a criminal' statement. Just enough said to make the public feel transparent scrutiny has been applied but not enough to ensure anyone is actually prosecuted.

But then what more could we expect given some of the subjects of the report have been given years to respond and decide what can be published.
And what of David Kelly (who's death wasn't part of the inquiry and who's medical reports will remain locked away)?

Still, its given us the bizarre spectacle of the Tory leader defending the past Labour leader whilst the current Labour leader attacks him (oh so that's whay you've hung in there Jeremy..).

I disagree. It's quietly excoriating.

derxa · 06/07/2016 14:11

I am disgusted.

This list is very instructive

Tony Blair told Bush 'I will be with you whatever'

derxa · 06/07/2016 14:13

And what of David Kelly (who's death wasn't part of the inquiry and who's medical reports will remain locked away)? This is one of the biggest scandals of all.

Just5minswithDacre · 06/07/2016 14:21

Nice that Corbyn name checked Robin Cook. I remember that speech so clearly, he deserves full posthumous credit for that.

derxa · 06/07/2016 14:26

blair justifying himself now on TV

Wordsaremything · 06/07/2016 14:45

Re David Kelly - that was investigated in the Hutton report - I suspect that's why it was out with the remit of Chilcott.

BrandNewAndImproved · 06/07/2016 14:48

Did anyone else watch the Blair rich project? This man doesn't care he wanted his name in history and he got it. I'm glad this report has came out but I knew it wouldn't damn him to hell or even have enough information in to give evidence for a prosecution.

Mrsraypurchase · 06/07/2016 14:49

Ghastly Blair.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 06/07/2016 14:55

It is a huge report (over 2 million words) that very few have read in full. Certainly no journalists or MPs.

Even the summary is over 150 pages.

I think we will have to wait a few days/weeks to see the full extent of it.

derxa · 06/07/2016 14:57

! Remember you got to go to your sons wedding, many others were denied that privilege because of your Labour governments lies

A comment I read on DM website. It sums it all up. These people never send their children to war.

BeyondCymru · 06/07/2016 14:58

Blair has been weaselling continuously for about half an hour. Hmm

Auti · 06/07/2016 15:01

Blair has been weaselling continuously for about half an hour.

derxa · 06/07/2016 15:03

Now he's setting forth his plans for fighting 'Islamist terrorism'

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 06/07/2016 15:05

These people never send their children to war.

If Euan had been in the navy/army he may well have done. He wasn't.

We don't have compulsory conscription.

There are many things to attack Blair for. Unfair to bring his children into it.

drivinmecrazy · 06/07/2016 15:10

Bleurgh!!
He's swayed between tears, triumphalism, indignation and pity.
Though obviously not for the soldiers he sent to war nor the country that he lied to so blatantly.
Only for himself.
What an utter **

Auti · 06/07/2016 15:11

Now he's setting forth his plans for fighting 'Islamist terrorism

He is the bastard father of ISIS Angry

BeyondCymru · 06/07/2016 15:11

He sure loves the sound of his own voice. I had forgotten how much I can't stand to watch him!

howtorebuild · 06/07/2016 15:13

I thought of David Kelly.

drivinmecrazy · 06/07/2016 15:13

He is sounding very impatient and antagonistic toward the reporters putting the questions to him.
Shame.

Auti · 06/07/2016 15:19

Watching him now, shows Cameron really is his true Blairite heir.

I could imagine Cameron copying B'Lairs mannerisms.

BeyondCymru · 06/07/2016 15:25

The reporters do seem to be affecting him? Good.

BeyondCymru · 06/07/2016 15:26

The pattern on that wallpaper is ridiculously large.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 06/07/2016 15:28

He is a shameful human being. Really shameful.
I hope he gets his just desserts one day.

Oblomov16 · 06/07/2016 15:40

We've waited years for this report. And it doesn't go far enough. Quelle surprise. No one is really shocked by that, are they?

DailyMailEthicalFail · 06/07/2016 15:47

No, not shocked at all.

Govt / Establishment does something illegal / becomes aware of illegality

After huge pressure and some years later commissions an Inquiry

Years after THAT (and often after a number of changes of Head of Inquiry) the Report largely exonerates the guilty, or at least makes damn sure charges cannot be brought.

And at the cost of MILLIONS to the Taxpayer.

Not surprised, but disgusted all the same.
