Chilcot report...

Feels like a 'you're a naughty/idiotic boy but not a criminal' statement. Just enough said to make the public feel transparent scrutiny has been applied but not enough to ensure anyone is actually prosecuted.

But then what more could we expect given some of the subjects of the report have been given years to respond and decide what can be published.
And what of David Kelly (who's death wasn't part of the inquiry and who's medical reports will remain locked away)?

Still, its given us the bizarre spectacle of the Tory leader defending the past Labour leader whilst the current Labour leader attacks him (oh so that's whay you've hung in there Jeremy..).

He's like the Jack Nicholson character in A Few Good Men. Did you issue a Code Red, Tony?

BeyondCymru · 06/07/2016 15:52

Well, based on hillsborough, there might be a different result a long time in the future once Blair is dead. Maybe?

BeyondCymru · 06/07/2016 16:08

Lol at, when asked about the referendum "the time you can trust a politician best is when they make hard decisions - they're stupid if they don't actually believe in them". Sneaky little dig at Cameron Grin

YourPerception · 06/07/2016 16:12

The families representative said TB is an actor.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 06/07/2016 16:28

So, Cameron is a wanker for risking Brexit (true)
but Blair is an okay guy for taking us into an illegal war he believed in???

bollocks, Tony.

I wonder how he squares his much vaunted Faith with his actions?
(or how he sleeps at night)

Mrsraypurchase · 06/07/2016 17:07

He's truly chilling. I find him very uncomfortable to watch.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/07/2016 17:19

I wonder how he squares his much vaunted Faith with his actions
very easily.... he 'believed' he was doing the right thing, he had his prayer meeting with Bush. And if he got it wrong - oh well, he can get forgiven not by the people he actually harmed but by his god. Hmm

Don't trust the judgement of people who might put belief above evidence (the tory leader candidates might bear that in mind when being so proud of their christian credentials).

MangoMoon · 06/07/2016 17:21

The reporters weren't nearly rigorous enough with him either imo.
Just let him evade & rephrase questions without calling him out on it.

He is such an egomaniac.

supersoftcuddlytoys · 06/07/2016 18:41

All those years, all that money spent and all that expectation - for this? Blair, Straw, Bush, Campbell etc, are still hiding behind the "in hindsight" line and the intelligence being "wrong" ... How do they sleep at night?

Why doesn't Corbyn do the noble thing and push for a war crimes trial for Blair and Alistair Campbell, his lying, conniving, sycophantic henchman?

supersoftcuddlytoys · 06/07/2016 18:42

The reporters weren't nearly rigorous enough with him either imo.
Just let him evade & rephrase questions without calling him out on it . When was that ever NOT the case Mango
?

DailyMailEthicalFail · 06/07/2016 18:43

Well, I for one think St Peter might have a surprise in store for Blair...

bakeoffcake · 06/07/2016 18:50

"He is sounding very impatient and antagonistic toward the reporters putting the questions to him"
Yes and he didn't properly answer the questions put to him.

He's an abusive gas lighter. He tells the nation that he takes responsibility and is sorry then says he would make the same decision tomorrow! Why would any person make the same decision when they knew it all ended so badly? He really is a fucking stupid, snivelling, smarmy, cunt.

supersoftcuddlytoys · 06/07/2016 19:02

St Peter might have a surprise in store for Blair If there's such a thing as celestial justice - that'll be - a red hot poker up his arsehole.

MangoMoon · 06/07/2016 19:17

Super Grin

RortyCrankle · 06/07/2016 20:41

I can't find the words to describe what I think about Blair. Suffice to say that if there's such a place as Hell, I hopes he rots in it for all eternity. Supersoft's suggestion would be a good addition.

LarrytheCucumber · 06/07/2016 20:45

We were listening on Radio 4 and had to turn the sound off. He does not come across as sincere at all. I just hope her Maj keeps withholding that knighthood.
So sad for all the families of those killed and wounded.

BigChocFrenzy · 06/07/2016 23:17

No chance of her sword accidentally slipping. By convention, it's a peerage for PMs.
Be difficult to refuse as it looks like he hasn't technically committed any criminal offence, slippery bugger.

BigChocFrenzy · 06/07/2016 23:19

He was immoral, always spinning and made a dreadful misjudgement that killed & maimed thousands of those in the British armed forces.
He helped destroy an entire country and create ISIS, which endangers us all.

The worst mistakes by a PM in modern UK history.

And he was rewarded by earning $$$ millions in the USA.
< fumes Angry >

LarrytheCucumber · 07/07/2016 08:16

I thought PMs got knighthoods. I also read that the longer they wait for a knighthood the more it shows how little she likes them. Hope that is true and that he waits for a very long time (like til Charles is king).

Minimammoth · 07/07/2016 08:21

Why do we have to listen to Blair giving excuse after excuse. Press conference, now long interview on R4. Just shut up.

Millionprammiles · 07/07/2016 08:34

Whilst Blair is ultimately responsible he didn't do this entirely alone - the then defence secretary and Chief Exec of MI6 have a lot to answer for too. They shouldn't be forgotten in all the media coverage of (the odious) Blair.

Any coincidence that that defence secretary is now employed by the corporation who was awarded the contract for the helicopters used in the war?
War is big business after all. The whole thing reeks of corruption and deceit.

OP posts:
bakeoffcake · 07/07/2016 08:39

He's been on radio 4 for half an hour now. He is still refusing to accept any responsibility for anything. He firmly believes the world is a safer place after his actions.

He makes me so fucking angry, those poor families of soldiers who have died. They must feel like strangling him.

LarrytheCucumber · 07/07/2016 08:45

The man's a psychopath.

LurkingHusband · 07/07/2016 09:52

Does anyone else remember (or will admit) to a feeling of hope and relief when Tony Blair became PM ?

It's almost like we challenged God to find someone who would be more hated than Thatcher, and He responded Sad.

Minimammoth · 07/07/2016 10:03

Yes Lurking I do. We thought 'things could only get better' , after the, in my experience, dreadful Thatcher years, and she is still held as a fine prime minister. Will we never learn, they are all in it for themselves and the buzz of power.
