jane 313, you missed out the best bit about Goerge Foreman - "His wives (there were four, the present named Mary though her husband calls her Joan) protested successfully against his wish to have the five girls also named George. There is, however, a Georgette and a Freeda George. At family gatherings Foreman is referred to as Big George."

Is it me...?

(Wonder why he doesn't call Mary George rather than Joan - it couldn't be any more confusing than it already is!)

Janh · 17/05/2004 13:02

And Emlyn Hughes's son is called Emlyn. I wonder what he calls his wife?

coddycodcod · 17/05/2004 13:02

I used to go to school with a girl called Pansy - great when she was tiny but she is now about 6ft and very heavily set!

Benjaminsmummy · 17/05/2004 16:46

Bundle, there was a person called Candida in my year at school. Like you I always thought of thrush as well.

Think she was called Candy by most people.

On the Apple name front, I think I quite like it

bundle · 17/05/2004 16:48
Grin
hercules · 17/05/2004 16:49

I like the name apple too.

Hulababy · 17/05/2004 16:50

Have to say that I am not keen on Apple. I can only imagine the stick she may get at school from it. Children can be very cruel.

lars · 17/05/2004 16:51

Apple what a name, poor thing it's as bad as peaches.
There was a kid I knew called Star Ranger.

I'm sure these mega stars try to out do one another with the strangest names. I'm all for unusual names but it just goes a bit far. larsxx

hercules · 17/05/2004 16:53

lol at star ranger

hercules · 17/05/2004 16:54

I have a very unusual name although you do hear of it occasionally now. i hated it at school but liked it as an adult as it is so different. However, it does get tiresome everytime I meet someone new including dentists etc.

motherinferior · 18/05/2004 08:29

Oh Herc, I know, I spend AGES spelling both my names out slowly and carefully to people and then listening to them repeating them back to me, wrong.

juniper68 · 18/05/2004 22:37

My sons have unusual names,DS2 is v unusual but everyone likes it.

I have to say that I was shocked when I heard they were calling her apple. I can't get my head round it though I usually love unusual names.

WideWebWitch · 18/05/2004 22:40

Cor, 10 hours, that's quick ish int it? Bet she didn't think so at the time though

Coj · 18/05/2004 22:54

Am I the only one who likes Apple? Wouldn't choose it for my nipper but I think it's nice to be different. (You can tell I have a boring name!)
