Moomin, you wait, there will be one flaky celeb reading this and thinking...'hmm...Ofsted...I like it" "

Moomin · 16/05/2004 23:54

Apparently I read today that the labour was a good 10 hours, baby was month early (but that doesn't seem right somehow, at that size?) and was not in water for some reason. Only pain relief was gas and air, according to this paper (but it was the Mail on Sunday, read at my in-laws' I hasten to add)

SoupDragon · 17/05/2004 07:50

Surely she can't possibly have been a month early at nearly 10lb??! DS2 was 2 weeks early and over 8lb.

marthamoo · 17/05/2004 08:19

Perhaps it's nothing to do with fruit - perhaps thay really love Apple Macs?!

motherinferior · 17/05/2004 08:34

Ten hours ain't that long, grumble mutter grumble grumble; my first labour(cover your eyes, Aloha!)took 36 hours, and wasn't exactly a record-breaker.

Sorry, off-topic. Not that weird a name, is it?

And I bet they just gave a date in a month's time, either to put off speculation (personally I tended to add a couple of weeks to my 'due date' and I'm not a worldfamous film star) or because she got up the duff even sooner after they took up together than they like to admit. Oooh, I can identify with that last one too. Gwynnie, my pet, YOU are my Mumsnet twin! Isn't that lovely for you?

bundle · 17/05/2004 09:58

I think it's a bit cruel.

Fio2 · 17/05/2004 10:06

I thought it was sweet!

Agree with soupy though, she must have got her dates wrong (that is not a fruit pun btw)

MrsDoolittle · 17/05/2004 10:18

I can't believe CM would go for a name like that, he seemed so DTE!
Maybe they made that up to protect her annonymity in the future?

sponge · 17/05/2004 10:20

Apparently they wanteed to wait to see the baby before naming it.
So we can assume it's round and green then

bzhmum · 17/05/2004 11:02

i have to say that i quite like it too - 'apple blythe' go well together...
to me 'apple' conjures up healthiness and freshness...

Frenchgirl · 17/05/2004 11:10

why didn't I think of calling dd 'baguette' or 'croissant'?

what about brioche, frenchgirl?

Frenchgirl · 17/05/2004 11:18

brioche would only work for very plump child though!

Janh · 17/05/2004 11:21

How about "tarte de pommes"? (tarte for short.)

Frenchgirl · 17/05/2004 11:23

a french designer called his daughter 'clafoutis' (a delicious but simple cherry cake) some years ago.... I would prefer Mousse au Chocolat myself

bundle · 17/05/2004 11:24

exactly! I bet Paula & Bob thought they were giving Fifi a playful little french name when she was born & now she's, well, let's say she has more of her dad's stature than her mum's petite frame. that's part of the reason we called our dd2 Grace as her middle name, in case she was less than Grace-ful (ie stompy thighs!)

Janh · 17/05/2004 11:27

Clafoutis...hmmm...quite pretty but sounds a bit like chlamydia (sp???)! Mousse could be cute (you can have pot au choc too, can't you?)

(btw just realised it should have been tarte aux pommes, pardonnez moi. )

SoupDragon · 17/05/2004 11:35

DS2 should have been called Pain au Chocolate. With the emphasis on the Pain. Or maybe Chunky Monkey after the B&J ice cream flavour.

iota · 17/05/2004 11:47

Janh h - mousse cute? In my former office the guys used to call unattractive women mooses

bundle · 17/05/2004 11:50

I knew someone called Candida, always thought of thrush when i heard her name...

motherinferior · 17/05/2004 11:59

I do think one should never give a girl an overwhelmingly girly name; I kept thinking, when mulling over names 'will this work for someone who looks like Ann Widdicome and/or is an eminent nuclear physisist?

jane313 · 17/05/2004 12:24

On the popo bithc webstie it said that Emlyn Highes called his daughter Emma Lynn and that geroge Foremans sons are all George 1, George 2 etc.

jane313 · 17/05/2004 12:25

oops meant popbitch

alicatsg · 17/05/2004 12:25

I used to know a Tamsin Packs... Tam Packs? cruel
