I'm not too scared to wear diamonds, I wear them all the time!

And the box is so pretty.....

Off you scamper mousie, go and nibble at that enormous chip on your shoulder

zippitippitoes · 03/12/2006 19:11

I am loving all their stuff
Only have the cards and envelopes unfortunately

noddyholder · 03/12/2006 19:14

I am entitled to my opinion. It is judgemental that is what an opinion is.I do think it is in bad taste to flaunt wealth and although it is a lovely thing to own it is pointless. It is nice to own something of quality-but in poor taste to talk about it like this on a site where many are struggling.

PrincessPeaHead · 03/12/2006 19:26

nice to be so holier than thou

this isn't exactly a "I'm down to my last penny" thread

SantasFattymumma · 03/12/2006 19:30

i dont think it unfair that MNers are discussing their belongings.

no doubt the more affluent amongst us get tired of reading the "im skint" threads but they dont tell us to stop whinging because its putting them off their boden order.

I personally dont think i could ever justify such an amount on an item but then i am not in a position where i would be able to lavish my partner with such a beautifull gift just for the hell of it.

I am sure that PPH and her partner have worked hard to be in a position to afford such luxurious gifts and good on them.
but im a pinko liberal

mousiemousie · 03/12/2006 19:31

..and the princess laughed at the poor peasant mouse and congratulated herself on her bravery in feeling able to flaunt her wealth for all the poor and sick people to admire, and for her invaluable role in being able to lift up their spirits by letting them admire her beauty and baubles, and for giving them something worthwhile to dream of in their lowly lives...

but somehow the giant chip on the little mouse's shoulders weighed her down less than the diamonds which coldly sparkled around the neck of the princess

satine · 03/12/2006 19:32

But Noddy, there are also people on MN who are bereaved - but no-one suggests we should stop posting "OMG my child/PIL/sibling is driving me nuts today".

noddyholder · 03/12/2006 19:32

I am not holier than thou. The question was what is the point of it and there is none.I am just commenting on the fact that talking about wealth like this is usually a sign of someone who has recently acquired wealth and can't keep their gob shut.Anyone with class or breeding doesn't need to discuss these things and wouldn't dream of posting details of a present on a site like this. You surprise me pph

zippitippitoes · 03/12/2006 19:34

I like the fact that pph showed us her necklace...

OP posts:
SantasFattymumma · 03/12/2006 19:35

if someone bought me a necklace like that i would be flashing it to all and sundry too

SherlockLGJ · 03/12/2006 19:36

This thread is getting dafter by the minute. The LGJ household are not rich but we are not poor, but next to PPH we look like paupers, it is all relative.

I refuse to be made feel guilty for what I have, as we worked bloody hard for it. I had a mortgage and stayed in with a bottle of wine and a pizza when all my friends were bashing their credit cards into oblivion and partying Thursday through to Sunday.

Quid pro quo.

PrincessPeaHead · 03/12/2006 19:42

pph surprises noddyholder shock

darn, I was hoping to have disappointed you noddy

go on, ask me nicely, I'll post a picture of my tiara and make mousie choke on her chip-nibblings
