are you two being serious

Carmenere · 23/11/2006 21:02

Totally where is the difference between a farmed animal and a wild animal. The life of a swan is worth the same as the life of the animals you eat.
FYI the reason all swans belong to the queen because they were a popular banquetting food in days of yore.

Callisto · 23/11/2006 21:03

I am. I get really f**ked off by the hypocracy of some meat eaters in this country. Ohhh poor swan had its throat cut by some rabid terrorist nutcase. Well how the hell do you think all of the animals die who end up on your dinner plate? They are loaded onto an overcrowded lorry, driven miles to the nearest slaughterhouse, unloaded into a cramped pen and have to wait their turn for a captive bolt or lethal electric shock or they are stunned, hung and their throats are slit. They know it is their time to die and it is hideous and heartbreaking. As for halal meat - just hung and throats slit for those beasties I'm afraid.

southeastastra · 23/11/2006 21:05

but you just don't go round killing animals you like the look of - you buy them

WhizzBangCaligula · 23/11/2006 21:07

I'm sorry but this thread has made me pmsl

Why the fuck does the queen own all the swans anyway? Is she allowed to eat them?

JanH · 23/11/2006 21:08

But what was he going to do with it once it was dead? Bite its head off and eat that raw? Had he lit a fire and got a pot of water ready or was he going to take it home and roast it? This is a bit weird, even for hypocritical carnivores.

WhizzBangCaligula · 23/11/2006 21:08

at your curiosity about his recipe Jan

WhizzBangCaligula · 23/11/2006 21:09

Was the suspect apprehended with garlic on his person?

Callisto · 23/11/2006 21:13

It is weird. And he must have had a mouth full of feathers after biting its head off. Sorry but I am pmsl now too.

hana · 23/11/2006 21:13

ahh
not being pathetic
I read the link
and in my experience his comments are not of a normal sound mind

southeastastra · 23/11/2006 21:18

yes, he's obviously a nutcase, can we just say that!

alexa1 · 23/11/2006 21:21

JanH - your comment made me laugh I have to admit.

cyrilsquirrel · 23/11/2006 21:24

I don't find it very funny actually

what a sick individual. Not a long enough prison sentance imo.

Poor creature. It must have been terrified.

noddyholder · 23/11/2006 21:27

There are no words for how angry this makes me.What an evil man

WhizzBangCaligula · 23/11/2006 21:27

Sorry I'm helpless with laughter.

All this outrage.

Were you this annoyed with Ozzie Osbourne? (How comes he didn't get charged with anything? Or did he?)

southeastastra · 23/11/2006 21:28

ozzy ate a dove i don't think the queen is bothered about them

cyrilsquirrel · 23/11/2006 21:29

swans are peaceful creatures. What harm was it doing to him?

This has upset me a lot actually

alexa1 · 23/11/2006 21:36

everyone knows ozzy osbourne was off his face on drugs and booze when he bit the head off that dove (not saying that is ok and is no excuse at all) but that muslim guy I assume doesn't do drugs or booze as they don't do they??

OP posts:
noddyholder · 23/11/2006 21:37

It sounds like it was there he was hungry and it was free in his eyes and as he hates this country and the queen he obviously had no regard for how this act would offend some people. The hypocrisy is that if someone did something violent and cruel which disrespected his culture/beliefs everyone would be up in arms.

7up · 23/11/2006 21:38

well said Noddyholder

flack · 23/11/2006 21:40

Ozzy swears he thought that bat (I think it was a bat he bit head off of) was a fake. He was shocked when he realised it was real.

This man is obviously mentally unwell. I kind of think he's right, it's "just" a bird, but can't believe the attention the worlds of a clearly crazy man is getting.

flack · 23/11/2006 21:42

words, not worlds, oops .
I suppose "world" is apropos, too, though.

JanH · 23/11/2006 21:43

Swans are not peaceful creatures! According to a ferryman I spoke to in Exeter, one of the swans near his crossing would have energetically drowned a family of a dozen baby grebes near his mate's nest, if he hadn't prevented it with his boat.

7up · 23/11/2006 21:44

ewww that sounds a bit out of character for a swan doesnt it ive always pictured them as beautiful creatures.and def wouldnt want to eat one

cyrilsquirrel · 23/11/2006 21:46

ok, point taken, but peaceful in the respect that that would not attack unless provoked
