Anyone planning on attending the big one happening June 20th? Or any local ones? Will be interesting to see how many go and what (if any) impact they will have.

I think you're safe for now, Through. I don't think weather reports can ever be tainted with political bias. It's...weather. Confused Grin

Unless you are into cloud seeding Wink

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 17/06/2015 13:57

I guess so, op, although these particular weather reports appear to have a tad of a political bias. Oh well. Hope everyone keeps safe; can't help but worry it'll be violent. I might have to keep the rain dance up a bit longer.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 17/06/2015 14:01

Why? If it looked like there would be rain surely OYBBK would say so just as much? She's not going to lie that it looks sunny just to make the demo appear to be blessed by Mother Nature. Grin

If Im realistic there probably will be a few troublemakers who take advantage of the march. But the vast vast majority of us will be peaceful.

I hope it doesnt rain, it will make our placards soggy! We might get the odd shower though. Need the high pressure to budge over just a little.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2015 21:56

slight hiccup. Thunderstorms are possible. oh dear.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 18/06/2015 23:07

Does this mean Mother Nature IS A TORY?! Wink

OP posts:
PausingFlatly · 18/06/2015 23:31

Heh. I'm sure forecasting bad weather is a "neutral and objective report", whereas forecasting good weather is "politically biased." Wink

Good chance to road test my not fetching new poncho.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2015 08:32

Thunderstorms are possible :(
I've been varnishing my placard today. I don't fancy waving round a soggy lump!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 19/06/2015 08:38

Thanks, I'll make sure DH takes a rain jacket!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 20/06/2015 08:24

Good luck everyone planning on going today. Packed DH this morning at 6:30. Stay safe!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2015 08:37

Yes, good luck :) latest forecast is for on and off light showers, so hopefully not too bad. I don't need to leave for another half an hour. Got everything packed.

Anyone who is planning on going should be aware, if they arent already that Bank will probably close.

ByTheSea · 20/06/2015 08:45

We would be going to London today but life's other commitments get in the way...

VikingVolva · 20/06/2015 08:49

I hadn't spotted this thread, and had just bumped the earlier one:

JasperDamerel · 20/06/2015 08:50

Good luck for the demo. I can't go, but will be cheering you all on from UpNorth.

PausingFlatly · 20/06/2015 08:55

Currently plotting how to get to the Whitehall start if roads are blocked for the march.

I'm sure I'll find some kind person to push me once in the march. People tend to be quite friendly and helpful, in my small experience of demos.

zen1 · 20/06/2015 11:02

Anyone going by themselves? I want to go, but don't know which group to stand with.

BettyCatKitten · 20/06/2015 15:27

I am a member of Unison but am not able to attend this demo as I'm working tonight.
Incidentally in just seen Charlotte Church, who is on the demo today, on the news. She came across very well and appears well informed. Good for her!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 20/06/2015 15:30

I haven't heard from DH yet. Been out all morning but just got in to check and saw that there are over 250,000 people there! That's pretty amazing.

PausingFlatly · 20/06/2015 17:43

Home safe, shattered, on sofa.

Left before the speeches properly started, as exhausted. They must just be winding up now.

Big, big thanks to all the very lovely Random Strangersâ„¢ who have been helping me all day. I couldn't have managed without you.

And to my cabbie who'll be at an anti-Neo-Nazi demo himself next week, good luck and hope things go smoothly.

PausingFlatly · 20/06/2015 17:44

And the poncho did NOT make an appearance.

Success!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 20/06/2015 18:14

Just heard from DH, he said it was brilliant, the vibe was positive and uplifting. Smile

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2015 18:23

It was bloody amazing. Really friendly andno I didn't see any agro. Travelling home exhausted. Got caught in a downpour as I left the area, but very pleased it held off for the march.
Can barely type now Grin

motherinferior · 20/06/2015 19:35

Went on my own, just home, had a great time. Saw old friends, colleagues and comrades.

DeliciousIrony · 20/06/2015 20:20

Home safe, on the sofa with a glass of wine, thoroughly exhausted but pleased. What a brilliant day.
