Anyone planning on attending the big one happening June 20th? Or any local ones? Will be interesting to see how many go and what (if any) impact they will have.

You do not help pick up a failing economy by removing the whole public services system that people pay such massive taxes for, and outsourcing trade. Austerity ISNT paying off any debt. This government has increased the debt far more than any other governments have. What they are doing is reallocating funds to the rich, selling off public services to their mates, and doing irrepairable damage.

If we are paying 20 to 40% taxes, and they are still privatising the NHS, education, probation etc, then what are we paying for??

The bankers caused the econimic crisis, and they have not only got off scottfree, they are still benefiting from their crimes.
Increasing the divide and increasing inequality and selling off our assetts is not going to touch the debt.

Am shattered but happy and glad I went. Was a lovely vibe. Went up on my own and was a bit nervous, but was really nice to be there. Missed the speeches as I had to get back for DD and DS though.

Shame we didn't have a way of spotting each other! Grin

What a fantastic day! At least 250,000 ( police estimate) people marching to protest against the brutal austerity measures.
Fantastic speaches, wonderfil atmoshere.., food for the soul!
Next march bring a friend... We will doible the numbers!
This is just the start ,

Branleuse · 21/06/2015 10:28

It was such a positive atmosphere. I am so strengthened by being a part of this peaceful resistance, after the hideous election result. 250,000 was police estimate and im pretty sure thats a conservative estimate.

We are not alone

I did look out for your placard, OYBBK, but there were 1 or 2 people in the way... Grin

LotusLight · 21/06/2015 12:08

The election result was wonderful for many of us however, for most people. Despite that I support people's rights to march whatever their views.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/06/2015 14:24

lol Pausing, I looked out for you too!

Great to hear so many mumsnetters supporting this. I was there too with my son. Wonderful day. Great atmosphere. Good speeches. People of all ages and races. Peaceful. Only minor thing was somebody burning a few placards and even though I think they shouldn't have done that, it was no big deal really. Sadly some of the media chose that as the only thing to report about the whole march.

I took this pic of a mother carrying her child through the protest (with her permission).

Have only just seen this thread.
We managed to get care for the DC, as despite the fact it was peaceful and I think they would have been safe enough their Autism would have meant they wouldn't have coped very well.

Yes it was a lovely, uplifting day.
