What an awful story. That poor lad was walking down the street minding his own business.

As someone living in Glasgow I don't get any sense that there will be any sort of race riots.

This has been a prominent case here since it happened and everyone knows these people are just the lowest scum - not a reflection on Glaswegian Asians.

The BNP have been up here trying to wind things up for a while but seem to have failed thank god.

cowmad · 09/11/2006 00:10

if i had a gun and no children id do it for her

would you all stop hugging each other an imagine
you daft left wing bints..

cowmad · 09/11/2006 00:11

zipy last post demonstrates how kissey we have become mentioning the a---- word

zippy34 · 09/11/2006 00:12

What an odd thing to post? Sorry don't get it.

cowmad · 09/11/2006 00:12

"its not a reflection on asians"

zippy34 · 09/11/2006 00:15

Well the only possible reason there would be race riots is if a bunch of looneys went on the rampage because they blamed a particular section of society for this crime (ie not solely those that had been locked up for it). In this case blaming Glasgwegian Asians.

Comprendez?

AitchTwoOh · 09/11/2006 00:19

i'm sure cowmad would love a good race riot, then while everyone is distracted she could pop out and right wrongs for people, vigilante-style.
summary justice a la mad cow... nah, you're alright, i think i'll just stick with the justice system we've got. the same one that fought to get a special extradition order granted to get the men out of pakistan and has now concluded the case to the satisfaction of the mother.

cowmad · 09/11/2006 00:21

AitchTwoOh · 09/11/2006 00:27

why mention it now and not before? not like you to keep something to yourself.

cowmad · 09/11/2006 01:10

oh yes it is itchy!!!

expatinscotland · 09/11/2006 09:09

oh, yes, killing more innocent people and being violent would do the world a whole lot of good.

you can't be for real, cowmad.

i do wish there were such a sentence as life w/o possibility for parole for offenders such as these thugs, who truly terrorised the community for a long time before commiting this offense.

many were too frightened to report the crimes committed against them, unfortunately.

WhizzBangCaligula · 09/11/2006 09:29

I don't think the book has been thrown at them, in that they may be out in 25 years.

Hanging was abolished on the basis that murderers like this would be kept in prison for life, not 25 years. The eldest one is in his late 20's, so that means he could be out by his early fifties. Well I don't think he should be, he should be in prison until he is at very least a very old incapable man.

I think one of the reasons people have this ugly rage that mad ole Cowmad is expressing, is because they don't feel people like this should ever be allowed to fully participate in society again. In cases like this, life really should mean life.

JoolsToo · 09/11/2006 09:31

Just heard on the Wright Stuff that the leader had previously beaten somebody around the head with a baseball bat and chopped someone's finger off! Also I didn't realise that Kriss was just 15 years old

expatinscotland · 09/11/2006 09:31

I agree, Caligula. These were hate-filled people for years who have shown NO remorse for the crime they committed, OR any of the other crimes for which they were convicted.

The ring leader was out on license when he murdered Kriss.

In the past he battered a man and left him permanently brain-damaged and in a coma.

His brother attacked random people.

These people have NO place in society and I think society is getting sick of having such persons thrown back in.

WhizzBangCaligula · 09/11/2006 09:32

Am wondering whether he was ever prosecuted for that earlier crime Jools, and if so, why on earth he was out on the streets.

joelallie · 09/11/2006 09:33

cowmad - an eye for an eye eh? Very old Testament. Thankfully most of us have moved on..and if we haven't, that's why we have a criminal justice system. It may not be perfect but at least it's better than lynch mobs and private 'justice'.

The suffering and death of that poor child are unthinkable and I really feel for his family, but killing others won't make it any better.

expatinscotland · 09/11/2006 09:38

Yes, Caligula, the ringleader was prosecuted for other crimes. He had a long rap sheet. So did his brother. The third fella had a long one, too, although few violent offenses.

The ring leader had been released from prison just three months before murdering Kriss.

It sickens me that thugs like this are continually released back into society to murder others.

The disgusting rapist accused of bludgeoning poor Angelika Klug to death in Glasgow last month was is also a repeat offender who was out on parole when the crime occurred.

WhizzBangCaligula · 09/11/2006 09:39

The thing is, the prisons are full. To lock up all these murderously dangerous criminals, it would cost an absolute fortune (and taxes would have to go up). So schemes like probation and licensing, are invented to save money. The insane thing is that they are using prisons when they could be using much more creative sentences for lesser crimes, so there is no space to keep really vile people like this in where they need to be.

JoolsToo · 09/11/2006 09:40

according to the Programme he was released early from previous sentence.

AitchTwoOh · 09/11/2006 11:39

that baldi guy has been well-known as a violent bam in glasgow for years. definitely since i was a teenager. there will be lots of questions asked of the police, i think. since the stephen lawrence inquiry i think the police in glasgow haven't really known how to place themselves in terms of our ethnic communities (which happens to be largely asian) and it's my opinion that young, wealthy asian males of a certain rap-loving bmw driving stereotypical cringe-making gangsta style in glasgow rather take advantage of this. i was on a bus the other day (i know, expat, the shame) and it couldn't get down its route cos a bunch of guys had parked their car on the road and were just hanging out and refusing to move. it was totally bizarre, the bus driver didn't know what to do and we ended off reversing and going another route. one old pakistani lady was going mental about it but they ignored her too. certainly these criminals seem to have skated by for a good while before being brought to book for any of their crimes, as i say they're been well-kent faces for a while.
