from the sunday mirror.....

EXCLUSIVE: KATE IS HAVING A BABY
By Suzanne Kerins And Ben Todd
SUPERMODEL Kate Moss is pregnant with Pete Doherty's baby, his uncle said yesterday.

And gardener Phil Michels added that the couple were overjoyed at the news.

He told the Sunday Mirror: "I have spoken to Pete twice about the baby and he has confirmed that Kate is pregnant."

It will be 32-year-old Kate's second child, after four-year-old Lila Grace with her ex, publisher Jefferson Hack.

Pete, 27, has a three-year-old son, Estile with former partner Lisa Moorish.

Phil said he spoke to Doherty on Friday when the singer called him from Italy, where he is performing with his band Babyshambles. The rocker told him Kate had had a scan, everything was fine so they were happy to share the news.

Phil said: "They are both delighted and Pete sounded really excited."

Kate, who has been relaxing in Italy with drug addict Pete, is expected to make an official announcement in weeks.

Phil, 57, Pete's favourite uncle, added:

"That is why they want to get married. Pete told me they want a baby together to cement their marriage.

"I am made up for them. I wish them every success. They're so happy, they love each other. I can't wait for the wedding - we are just waiting for a date."

Two weeks ago, the Sunday Mirror revealed Kate, estimated to be worth £25 million, and Pete were trying for a baby.

Pete rejoined his bandmates for the gigs in Italy after quitting the British tour earlier this month following orders from Kate - known as "The Millionairess" by his close friends.

Heroin and crack addict Pete - who had just finished a successful month-long stint at the Priory Clinic in Southgate, North London - had started using again.

He was spending up to £500 a day on drugs. As a result, Kate told him to pull the plug on the tour so he could continue rehab with her at his side - away from the druggie lifestyle on the road. Those concerts have been rescheduled for next month.

Why do you imagine you know what Kate Moss and Pete Doherty are really like based on a few pictures and stories in the Daily Slag? I'm sure paparazzi and junk journos could twist any of our lives to make them seem totally different to the reality. Only they themselves know what they are like and what they intend. They obviously have issues to deal with, but don't we all? I don't think I'd like to be the child of any celebrity, never mind KM's and PD's, but that doesn't mean the poor kid is going to suffer. Leave them alone and stop being so judgmental.

Glassofslime · 22/10/2006 11:33

gin - did make me laugh. Glad we could be adult, will think twice before pressing the post button.

Anyway I'm sure the one thing we all agree on is that we all hope the baby is healthy and has a loving/happy life, so shall we all move on?

lulumama · 22/10/2006 11:36

oooh...lets.....

i don;t bear a grudge ,me!

how very ...sensible....! Gin and

HumphreyComfrey · 22/10/2006 11:38

I think it is a concerning situation for a child to be born into.

Take away the money and the 'celebrity', and you're left with two drug addicts (possibly reformed, possibly not) who are having a baby.

KM's first daughter has her father to care for her if her mother becomes unable to do so due to drug related problems.

This new baby will have Pete Docherty as a father, and his track record for successfully completing rehab is not good.

If they were 'mere mortals' then I think there would be a lot of questions asked by health professionals and social services.

Money and fame may protect them from this, but I hope they have the willpower to get clean in order to provide a safe and stable life for their child.

I wish them well.

sorrell · 22/10/2006 11:53

It is NOT judgemental to describe Pete Docherty as a drug addict and a very serious one. It is a fact. Unless his repeated court appearances and spells in rehab (followed by more arrests for possessing cocaine and heroin) are entirely made up by the papers.
It is NOT judgemental to think that a heroin and crack addict does not make the best possible father.
There are 'issues' and there are issues..

lulumama · 22/10/2006 11:55

in full agreement with the last two posts

Cappuccino · 22/10/2006 11:57

I can't personally see why if you've had Johnny Depp you would want to copulate with someone who looks like Frank Sidebottom

lulumama · 22/10/2006 12:02

lol....definitely agree with that !!

Sheraz · 22/10/2006 12:09

I just hope the poor child has its mothers looks and dress sense and not it's fathers!

TwoIfByScream · 22/10/2006 21:30

Regardless of wealth drug addicts should not be allowed to have children. Addictions are selfish and the child will always come last.

He is a bit grotty as well. She doesn't look any better either but there you go!

oxocube · 25/10/2006 08:42

Twoifbyscream - I think she is beautiful. A bit screwey perhaps, but beautiful!

northerner · 25/10/2006 08:47

They both look like they need a good dowse down with an anti bacterial spray.

Don't feel that I can judge them iyswim, however, do think it is unfair that if they were a working class couple with not much money they probably would end up on the child protection register and they probably won't.
Some one said earlier that the money they have will protect the child, I don't think it will protect the child, but it will protect them from SSD, which is so unfair.

sorrell · 25/10/2006 12:00

Hope she isn't and surely she can't be. She's pictured swigging champagne from the bottle in today's papers, and was smoking too.

Bob Geldof is great man for taking in Tigerlily

vickiyumyum · 25/10/2006 12:03

yuck, i think they both deserve each other! and i alos cannot see how on earth she can be a fit mother, the little girl either spends all he rtime with a nanny or the family must have a lot of involvment, sounds like th littel girl would be far better off with her father. how long before she becomes the next tiger lily hutchinson and finds her mum dead next to a pile of drugs!
poor littel girl i feel sorry for her.

i have been in many child protection meetings for the welfar of children born into drug addicted families and the rates of success when both parents are users or former users are dismal, they usually end up addicted again, the only real successe i have seen is of a family who moved away from everything that was connected with drugs, htey moved town, lost contact with all previous friends, stopped drinking, smoking, going out, and although that sounds very sad in deed it was the best for them as they got all the joy and pleasure they needed byu raising a fmaily 'straight', 4 years on they are still doing well, i really hope that the same could work for km and pd but have a feeling they both still like drugs and partying too much to give either up!

With lila she hs a good ex to care for her while she carries on a busy international lifestyle.
Can't see her being able to enjoy the same kind of reliability with PD tbh
FWIW her ex has always defended her and says she is an excellent mother.
I'd be loathe to judge her tbh, I think she is not an addict just a hedonist. She really struggled with giving up smoking when preg with Lila too, not sure she managed it totally either.
Kinda scary their apparent relationship a lot like Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence, that depth of need almost.
