EXCLUSIVE: KATE IS HAVING A BABY

SUPERMODEL Kate Moss is pregnant with Pete Doherty's baby, his uncle said yesterday.

And gardener Phil Michels added that the couple were overjoyed at the news.

He told the Sunday Mirror: "I have spoken to Pete twice about the baby and he has confirmed that Kate is pregnant."

It will be 32-year-old Kate's second child, after four-year-old Lila Grace with her ex, publisher Jefferson Hack.

Pete, 27, has a three-year-old son, Estile with former partner Lisa Moorish.

Phil said he spoke to Doherty on Friday when the singer called him from Italy, where he is performing with his band Babyshambles. The rocker told him Kate had had a scan, everything was fine so they were happy to share the news.

Phil said: "They are both delighted and Pete sounded really excited."

Kate, who has been relaxing in Italy with drug addict Pete, is expected to make an official announcement in weeks.

Phil, 57, Pete's favourite uncle, added:

"That is why they want to get married. Pete told me they want a baby together to cement their marriage.

"I am made up for them. I wish them every success. They're so happy, they love each other. I can't wait for the wedding - we are just waiting for a date."

Two weeks ago, the Sunday Mirror revealed Kate, estimated to be worth £25 million, and Pete were trying for a baby.

Pete rejoined his bandmates for the gigs in Italy after quitting the British tour earlier this month following orders from Kate - known as "The Millionairess" by his close friends.

Heroin and crack addict Pete - who had just finished a successful month-long stint at the Priory Clinic in Southgate, North London - had started using again.

He was spending up to £500 a day on drugs. As a result, Kate told him to pull the plug on the tour so he could continue rehab with her at his side - away from the druggie lifestyle on the road. Those concerts have been rescheduled for next month.

Surely a month in the Priory is not "successful" if he comes out and starts using again!

I am always amazed at what the rich and famous appear to get away with that ordinary mortals would not.

.....he has major addictions that need dealing with..she has drug issues...when was the last time you saw a pic of them with the child she already has....she was photographed smoking last week....

Oh no!!! . You never see her with the child she already has. Only coming out of clubs in the early hours of the morning. I always think, "whos looking after your daughter?"

And that man is VILE. I wouldn't let him anywhere near me or my daughter. Maybe thats why you never see kate with lila.....

hmmm

well, I can't get worked up about PD as I think he's actually very sweet - totally misguided and hopeless - but there is a little boy lost quality to him when you see him talk or sing, that I'm sure is what she sees in him. I agree it's not ideal but it's not like they're the only couple who have a baby to try and make their relationship better. It just might work, you never know... He's certainly not the only unsuitable father that ever there was

But I'm sure he'll get hung out to dry for this one just the same

moomin- he is a crack addict, a heroin addict and god knows what else.....how can he possibly be responsible for another life when he seems hell bent on destroying his own...

don't really see the sweetness there...

if he was your neighbour, and not a singer in a band...would you say the same???!! he's not the only unsuitable father...but he's a high profile one!

it's the children who will suffer...

oh come on to be fair if you were in the public eye would let the press take photos of your child. Are you saying that mothers are not allowed out at night? I agree Pete Docherty isn't ideal father material, but who knows this might be just the thing to turn hime around. She is obviously in love with him and trying her hardest to get his addictions sorted out. Yes, she was caught having aline or two, but we know from previous threads that even MNetters do that sometimes. Give them a break

What I was meaning was that I'm certainly not going to get on some hysterical bandwagon and condemn them both to a public stoning like most sections of the media want to do. And it wouldn't make a difference at all if he were one of my neighbours, unless what he was doing directly affected me and mine. It's easy to hate and very hard to try to understand. It's also easier to believe the hype and ignore the person underneath - that's how most bigotry and hatred starts

It is because she is in the public eye that Kate Moss gets paid millions of pounds for her photograph and can afford the personal assistants, holidays and nannies that protect her from the kind of lifestyle she would have if she was Kate Bloggs, drug user having a baby with a drug addict boy friend in and out of prison, living on benefits and battling to keep her children out of care.

Kate Moss makes Jade Goody look like quite a sensible person.

he alreday has a child with the woman liam gallagher had an affair with at the start of his marrige to patsy kensit.

I doubt that child sees much of him. It's obvious that child hasn't made him stay off drug and stay clean.

The man makes my skin crawl.

They'd have more chance of rising to the challenge if we, the public, gave them a chance instead of leaping in to condemn them and wallowing in judgement and moral finger wagging.

This is just the kind of attitude I hate when people condemn, for example, single mums or teenagers who get pregnant. They need support and understanding. The relish with which people slag others off is quite disturbing. It's almost like you want them to fail.

I'm happy for them too. Probably a bit rose tinted, but you never know it could be the making of both of them, and the child will be protected because they have so much money I guess. Yes they have problems, many it seems, but that doesn't and shouldn't mean they can't have children together - there has never been any suggestion their existing children aren't cared for in every way possible - and yes the point about her never being seen with her child is a bit unfair - maybe she prefers not to take it on nights out to a nightclub or photo shoots!

.looking beneath the public personas & hype...

two people with addictive personalities...at least one with several drug convictions..stints in and out of rehab...never learning from past mistakes....another child is not going to make him get clean

he has to get clean for himself...

i don't want them to fail.....

but i can;t see how it can end well.....he has been in and out of rehab...and not got clean...they have enough money to get the best help and treatment..but have a child together before he is clean....?

i would like to be understanding and wish them the best....but my gut feeling is that it will end badly....
