This is so sad.. hope he is ok. He is critical at leeds hospital after a top gear stunt went wrong!

Gosh, I hadn't heard about this. How horrible, he seems like such a lovely bloke. I'll be thinking about him and his family.

Still a bit vague. A "good recovery" from a brain injury covers a fairly wide range of outcomes.

Codwiggle - yes he is a fan at three. His first words were "go car" and has watched Top Gear with us since he was 18 month old. It's his fave programme.
"Serious brain injury" doesn't sound good, and the docs aren't exactly saying he will make a full recovery, just a good one. I am still keeping my fingers crossed for him.

My mum just asked me if dh and I had emailed Richard Hammond, because in the news report it said they had even had a couple from new zealand - I had to point out they probably meant 2 rather than a married couple!

"reasonably optimistic" and "good recovery" Don't sound like the kind of news everyone was hoping for but at least it is an improvement on how he was Wednesday night.

Aparently Jeremy Clarkson made him smile at the hospital yesterday by calling him a crap driver.

Me too Fio. Exactly the same humour that dh and I share, and exactly why I love Top Gear.

We love Top Gear too. They all work so well together, you don't need to be into cars to watch it. PSML at the stuff they get up to.

Some of the wee stories trickling out are so sweet
One of the paramedics apparently said when rescued RH was saying " I've got to do a piece to camera"
And that Clarkson had been to see him and got no response from saying the usual nice things you say to a critically ill person, so called him a crap driver and RH smiled
Also that he looks perfect bar one black eye.
I really hope he is ok, my 12 yr old ds keeps texing me for updates
The other night when I heard on the late news what had happened - I woke ds up to tell him to be aware if he watched the morning news - in case the worse happened overnight.
I am glad he appears to be making a decent recovery

i was listening to jonathan ross a min ago, he said the top gear team had a deal that if anything happened to any of them whilst filming, they would announce the news, then say... right next on the show!
