Very sad when allegations like this are made against someone you've previously admired. I do hope that it's all a misunderstanding. If it isn't is it better that they were 'made up. images rather than real ones iyswim? Obviously not acceptable behaviour in either case, but ykwim.

cod - so although they are created, they are still based on pictures taken of kids? Thanks for that, I've always assumed they meant completely made up pictures, so fiction rather than RL. So just as nasty really.

Don't you think he might be very slightly redeemed if he could offer some insight into the origins of paedophilia, and how paedophiles might best be 'assisted' to be sexually inactive? I'm sure I read he'd been in therapy, hence Help, so he must have a bit of insight. It seems mad to me that all the psychologists in the world don't seem to have a clue on paedophilia. i am gutted by this, i really rate chris langham, i even liked him in that crap shrink thing with caroline quentin. AND he was the sniggering centurion in The Life of Brian, laughing at the mention of Bigus Dickus. Oooh, hang on...

This news first broke the day before he was due to attend the British Comedy Awards for The Thick of It - which was brilliant too. He stayed away because of "flu" IIRC.
They have him on a raft of charges though don't they, unlike Pete Townsend who was booked on the basis of one traceable download.
I'm not optimistic this is a misunderstanding and I feel really sad about it - for the children in the photos and the victim of the alleged assault, and for Langham's own family.
MI, I can't so much as look at William Mayne's books now . Unlike Langham, whose main body of work is adult-focused, his books resound with insight into the mind of the child and knowing he used that knowledge to manipulate and abuse scores of children makes me feel really angry and disgusted.
