it works fine OYBK, it was an excel error!

tobysmum77 · 26/05/2014 10:49

So we need to change it from being only for the privileged.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 11:00

Putting it through, I get:
Ukip 542812
Con 446569
Lab 271601
Ukip 271406
Con 223284
Ukip 180937
Con 148856

Had we gone further it would have then been
Lab 135800
Ukip 135703
Green 133331

Etc.

It isn't only for the extremely priveleged, that's just the perception, but it isn't really for everyone. It's for anyone prepared to do the travel, learn the extra languages (some people can't learn languages very easily) be further from home for longer (some can't afford to do this). But there is no getting around not being able to go home to get well fed at weekends, or being able to save up, look after sick relatives or stay in touch with grandparents as easily. And when you return the friends and contacts and work experiences you made are in another country.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 11:02

Grin dh was Hmm why don't you use excel, but it was quite satisfying to work out by hand,

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 11:03

If only I'd checked the thread before getting going with it though Grin

Just shoved it through the Sainte-Lague system. Result would have been different

Ukip

So we would have lost a conservative and gained a green!

Under the Macau d'Hondt method v/(2^s) it would have been

Weighted more to the original set.

What family fun we have on a bank holiday Grin all 3 of us are gathered round the keyboard.

I can't contribute anything intelligent OYBBK but I am very impressed!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 12:53

Its been a good lesson for dd that it isnt as simple as vote and and a result is declared but how the results vary depending on which pr system you choose. Mind you I hadnt expected for that to show so clearly when just choosing top 7!

Pretty much come to the limit of what I can do now. Grin

Has anyone got a link to the percentage of votes for the parties in each region?

I think my region may have had the highest percentage in the whole country voting for UKIP. We are always ahead of the curve down ere Grin

claig · 26/05/2014 13:01

In fact, if UKIP target this region in the general election, they'll find so many seats up for grabs that UKIP won't know which ones to pick and choose.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 26/05/2014 13:12

Let's hope people come to their senses before the next general election claig and realise who they are voting for.

claig · 26/05/2014 13:14

It all depends if the parties can win them back. They think they can, but it depends on what happens in the coming year. It also depends on what sort of policies UKIP announce.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 26/05/2014 13:18

I'm hoping this will shock a lot of people and they will vote for the lesser evil even if the party doesn't directly represent their view. I'm also crossing my fingers for the first time voters who will traditionally vote left.

UKIP adequately expressed their policies in their 2010 manifesto, the one Farage launched and wrote the forward too.

claig · 26/05/2014 13:21

Lumpy, UKIP have changed. idiots have been sacked and the mastermind who wrote the 2010 manifesto, whom Farage called an "idiot", has returned to the Conservative Party.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 13:28

Shame they didn't actually bother to create a manifesto for 2014 claig rather than a few pages full of pretty pictures and vague statements.

As you seem to be unable to use google to find the results:
here

LumpySpacedPrincess · 26/05/2014 13:33

I know that claig. But Farage launched it and wrote the forward to it so he fully endorsed all the views it held only 4 years ago. They are clearing up the internet because that one document shows how vile and deeply hateful their opinions are.

You say they've changed? They haven't changed and a close look at their supporters and backers proves this.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 13:35

here is the 2010 manifesto :)

OP posts:
claig · 26/05/2014 13:37

I have found the percentage share on wikipedia. Our region had the highest UKIP percentage anywhere at 34.5%

We will have to wait and see what policies they come up with in their new manifesto.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 13:43

Lets hope they manage to write one before the General Election.

OP posts:
LumpySpacedPrincess · 26/05/2014 14:32

Cheers for that kitten. I wander if they will keep article 15 Culture and Restoring Britishness?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 15:21

Some particularly vile ideas in that article. Really wish I could find the policy document behind it.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 15:24

YES! Restoring Britishness

Thank you to the website who archived it.
