I wouldn't normally comment on this - I don't own a TV and don't buy magazines. I do however incessantly see Kim/ whatever part of her anatomy in shops, on posters in the street, on endless internet sites - as a result of this I have found it hard to escape their existence, which is arguably unfortunate.
I am all for believing in spending your money however you like, you earn it, you spend it, your life , etc
However in this instance, I do not feel that charitable work has any place in defending the monstrosity of their wedding. If there was a true altruism, they would not spend such vulgar sums in such flashily obscene ways, they would do a spot of eg Angelina (ah we love to hate, but she's actually very low key, or at least stays away from this media) and crack on with it .
How many people could be helped with the sums spent on the wedding? How many children could be fed? or housed?
How many vaccines could be given in high risk countries to children who may die? how many mosquito nets bought, or water sanitisation kits sent?
This IS grotesque - when you think about the really amazing things, that mean everything that love should mean - and how many could be done with the same money.
It's clear this one can't be topped (though, virgin galactic wedding WOULD top that) so my wish would be that this will start a dive in celebrity crass culture and a refocusing on merit where merit is due, and respect for the real heroes in our world.
until then - yuck, but I at least hope they are happy together
