here is Part 5 but we are ready (nearly) for a new one.

OP posts:
voiceofgodot · 05/05/2014 10:17

No idea!

LookingThroughTheFog · 05/05/2014 10:18

According to Twitter, it was that they don't want to interrupt the going to the house narrative for tea.

Or at least, I inferred that from a tweet. It was not stated implicitly. For the record.

voiceofgodot · 05/05/2014 10:19

Tea break according to the Guardian.

voiceofgodot · 05/05/2014 10:19

Interesting that she says she heard somebody calling for help and her reaction was to get into bed and think 'how am I going to get to sleep now?'. Doesn't paint her in the best light!

RonaldMcDonald · 05/05/2014 10:22

It is my experience that a vast majority of SA women have a high pitched voice with a rising inflection
it made me feel like a man

RonaldMcDonald · 05/05/2014 10:24

if you guys remember Sam Taylor said that OP often left his work phone downstairs plugged into the charger
I'd guess that it was this phone that was plugged in

MajesticWhine · 05/05/2014 10:25

Roux asked for a tea break because they are about to enter the next phase of questioning (sky news)

Hillwalker · 05/05/2014 10:26

Why do the assessor a keep asking whether RS had access to the alarm de activator? We only have OP's word that the alarm was ever on that night.

Hillwalker · 05/05/2014 10:26

Assessors

voiceofgodot · 05/05/2014 10:29

Well it's not unreasonable for them to try to work out whether his version is reasonable, is it? I don't understand the fixation either.

Speaking of the assessors, does anybody know what their qualifications need to be? They don't have much gravitas about them and it sounds like a very serious job!

Hillwalker · 05/05/2014 10:30

The Standers do not come across as neutral witnesses at all. They sound rehearsed.

RonaldMcDonald · 05/05/2014 10:31

Do you think that Stipp would have clarified to Stander that his speciality was radiology before going inside?
In a situation where he came from his house into potential danger to offer medical assistance in urgency...
Do you think it likely that he stopped to clarify?

Although God knows what you'd say in those circs

voiceofgodot · 05/05/2014 10:35

I don't know, I do know that I am hugely more sympathetic to a man who took great personal risk to try to help somebody in need than I am to someone who heard screaming for help and went back to bed...

HawnieGold · 05/05/2014 10:36

Who is this guy instead of Roux?

LookingThroughTheFog · 05/05/2014 10:42

The Standers do not come across as neutral witnesses at all. They sound rehearsed.

I agree. Hers particularly sounds as though it's a novel she's narrating. Her choice of language is interesting.

However, she's known she'll be appearing in a court for months, possibly a year. I'm not surprised she's gone over and over it, even if it's just in her own head.

Hell, I regularly narrate my life. It's ridiculous, but sometimes I do. I think it might be a personality thing. I'm not saying that makes her a more reliable or less reliable witness.

Do you think it likely that he stopped to clarify?

You know what, I find this extremely believable. It's almost like a disclaimer - I'm a doctor, I can try to help, but I'm not a professional in emergency trauma.

AmIthatSpringy · 05/05/2014 10:43

Re the assessors. Ms du toit is an advocate , I think, so is very experienced I can't remember the man's name but i thought he was a law graduate. I could be wrong though Smile

Hillwalker · 05/05/2014 10:44

If OP was so desperate to save Reeva, why did he call the estate manager rather than an ambulance?

voiceofgodot · 05/05/2014 10:46

It is crazy that he hadn't called an ambulance.

OneStepCloser · 05/05/2014 10:47

Morning all, I'm just following via tweets on bbc, but I do find a couple of things somewhat odd. 1, if they are all so worried about intruders why do they sleep with balcony doors open? (I would have thought fans better than open doors, I wouldn't even sleep here in blighty with my doors wide open) and 2, if you here something outside such as someone screaming help, help, would you really shut the door and get under your duvet? Really? I would find that a little callous, why didn't she at least wake her parents? (I nearly called the police over two foxes having a bit of 'what's your father' thinking it was someone being attacked outside my window once, but luckily called my brother to come and look first Blush)

Finally, with this case resting on being so scared of intruders it's ok to shoot, I'm struggling with Reeva staying there alone.

HowAboutNo · 05/05/2014 10:51

Her testimony has just reminded me of how rude I thought OP was about Stipp when he testified. I can't remember exactly what he said but it was something like "he didn't seem to know what he was doing" or the like.

Nerf · 05/05/2014 10:52

Caprice sounds really believable to me, just trying to get everything out. It must have been horrific for her to go through.

Roussette · 05/05/2014 10:53

So OP is putting his hands over his ears again whilst this testimony is going on. I find that an insult. This girl Viljoen is having to relate what happened when she got to the house after RS was shot, in great detail - not easy and she is upset, yet he can't bear to listen.

OP posts:
OneStepCloser · 05/05/2014 10:53

Whoops was there something about the neighbour doctor clarifying that he was not an emergency doctor? That's etiquette here BIL is an anesthetist, he has come across emergency situations and has always had to declare his area and get the ok to go ahead, even with me I went into labour whilst he and sis were visiting, he had to ask my permission to carry one delivering DS (I would have accepted help from a bit man at that point) and had to clarify that with the midwife when she turned up later, he explained afterwards he does need to protect himself should anything go wrong, fair enough.

ZuluinJozi · 05/05/2014 10:53

Marking my place

SpeedwellBlue · 05/05/2014 10:54

OP pleading with Reeva to stay with them and begging everyone to help save her makes me think it was an accident, as if it was in purpose he would not want her to live as she could then tell everyone what happened!
