I couldn't get woodmouses link to work either, there were just blank tiles and it said waiting for map to load. Which it never did.

member · 23/03/2014 20:22

I found it by clicking randomly - a white circularish blob? (then the laptop said it didn't like a script I was running so I cancelled it & lost the tile!!)

Mimishimi · 23/03/2014 20:57

I got woodmouse's link to work on the iPad. There are some much bigger bits of debris in the surrounding area there that are clearly not waves..

Octopusinabunchofdaffodils · 23/03/2014 21:14

www.tomnod.com/nod/challenge/mh370_indian_ocean/map/83081 some largish looking stuff on several tiles.

BertieBotts · 23/03/2014 21:34

If you click in the middle of a blank tile it should load the map.

I can get to the 95101 tile by typing 95101 in place of the last numbers on the other links. I tagged a few things but they could have been waves, TBH.

alabasterangel · 23/03/2014 21:47

Being very dense.... Late de lurking. Looked at tom nod few days ago, located a whale... Not much else.

Now today locating this sort of stuff www.tomnod.com/nod/challenge/mh370_indian_ocean/map/88005

And loads of it. White stuff, 15m odd. Should I tag it? What the AF could it be? (Confused if not debris.... Dense as I said).....

BoiledPiss · 23/03/2014 22:37

A whale Shock did you screenshot it? That is amazing! Was it massive?

PansBigChainring · 23/03/2014 23:45

Using Tomnod...this map shows a large object with a very white straight centre Have no idea how this compares with other maps?? Is it worth tagging? It looks much clearer on the 20m measuring map.

Hi, I've been lurking from the first thread and I don't think this has been brought up.

Please tell me if I'm being a bit dim here but couldn't 'they' track the plane from the last known point by satellite images? Or is it not possible because it was at night? Even then, by the time of the last ping it would have been in the morning. Wouldn't it be easier for all of us to be looking for a plane (during the time we knew it was still pinging) than tiny bits of wreckage?

funnyperson · 24/03/2014 00:49

Tin hat on: I think the satellite images of 2 large oil streaks off the coast of Vietnam seen shortly after the plane disappeared was it in the sea. I think it crashed. It is possible a US drone shot it down then turned left to go back. I think the left turn was a US drone which the US are trying to hide the existence of. I think the debris will turn out to be a red herring and the pings were another aircradt (eg a US drone)
I think the phone call to the pilot was his wife or daughter using a sim card bought by an employee from a roadside tea stall as often happens. I think the US knows a lot more than they are letting on. There has been a massive cock up somewhere and due to the number of Chinese on board it is highly unlikely the US will ever admit to gunning down a plane by mistake.

funnyperson · 24/03/2014 00:56

I also think it typical of the United States FBI that they want to interrogate an already distressed family and smear the pilot with stories of how the wife and husband werent in a relationship even though they were living together as a family (how do the United States suddenly know this?. To my mind this has convinced me that the US is the guilty party in this whole sorry episode.

Piscivorous · 24/03/2014 01:06

I had a look and can see some white blobs but I have no idea if it's just waves or not.

Piscivorous · 24/03/2014 01:17

Pans Which square?

PansBigChainring · 24/03/2014 01:28

it's map 89200. I've scanned quite a fair few squares and this one is v obvious something white and big on the surface. No idea what to do about it.

PansBigChainring · 24/03/2014 01:41

it's the centre tile on that map - white object in top RH corner with what looks like spray around it. No idea how that compares to other objects spotted on maps though.

bemusedisnottheword · 24/03/2014 03:43

is it sort of triangular in shape, it does look different to the other white blobs in the square

FairlyDinkum · 24/03/2014 04:48

Aust newspapers reporting that the Chinese have located some debris. 'White and rectangular'.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 24/03/2014 05:52

The US is moving a black box pinger to the area just in case.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 24/03/2014 06:22

"Please tell me if I'm being a bit dim here but couldn't 'they' track the plane from the last known point by satellite images?"

No doubt they are checking back any available and possibly relevant satellite images but (1) there isn't coverage of the entire globe in images every second and (2) I'm not sure how long any incoming images are kept before being written over.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 24/03/2014 06:27

"the pings were another aircradt (eg a US drone)"

The pings have a signature, I believe, so said drone would have to have a replication of the equipment on the plane, meaning it was a pre-arranged plan ie not in response to the hijacking. Plus drones don't have anything like the range this would require. Plus the US doesn't have any bases etc in drone range, I believe. Plus there's lots of oil in the sea.

So no, I don't think that theory works.

Bakingnovice · 24/03/2014 06:36

I feel sorry for the pilot. They are trying their very best to pin it on him. If there was anything at all it would have been found by now.

Its also very odd that the photo of the two Iranians boarding was meddled with.

AGnu · 24/03/2014 07:33

Meddled with baking?

CharlieSierra · 24/03/2014 07:54

feel sorry for the pilot. They are trying their very best to pin it on him

I don't think so. There appears to be strong evidence of a sequence of deliberate actions by someone with a high level of knowledge and expertise. There were 2 people legitimately in the cockpit with that expertise. The simplest explanation is that one of them was involved. It makes sense to investigate them. It really isn't a case of 'trying' to pin it on anyone.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 24/03/2014 07:57

Yy - and by the same argument if there was anyone else on the plane with specialist flight knowledge, they "would have been found by now"

(I do still think this is possible as there are hundreds of passengers across many countries so investigations may well be ongoing, but the pilots are the obvious place to start. And Malaysia has denied the "False ID phone" report, which was "anti" pilot if it was anything.)

Mimishimi · 24/03/2014 08:04

Where they are saying the Chinese have found debris would roughly correlate with the map if it was the same search area (down the bottom and to the right).
