VeniVidiVickiQV · 08/08/2006 20:44

Oh wow! This is fantastic tahir and myfree....

Kiskidee · 08/08/2006 20:56

oooohhhh, love to hear that support is coming from lots of angles. we need to keep media awareness up. only that way will politicians start to take notice.

Damsella · 08/08/2006 21:09

I just want to add the support, financial if necessary, of www.damsels.org.

A lot of us are mums are we are horrified by this ridiculous legal situation.

If funds are required for a legal fight then I will set up an account for our members to contribute.

Power to the forums!!!!!

Damsella · 08/08/2006 21:10

I should have added, I have sent an email to the Mumsnet team to tell them of our support.

RosaLuxemburg · 08/08/2006 21:10

This is bloody brilliant.

fluttergandhibee · 08/08/2006 21:12

Thank-you so much all of you, this really is brilliant.

VladimirllichLeninQV · 08/08/2006 21:15

oh damsella that is lovely

Chandra · 08/08/2006 21:15

Thank you so much for your offers. That's very kind oof you, how do you plan to do it (thinking about how to set up a donation facility here in Mumsnet)

Talking about the financial aspect of Mumsnet... where all the ads, normally located at the top, have gone???

ingym23 · 08/08/2006 21:16

I'd like to register my support for Mumsnet too. I was horrified by the report on Channel 4, and believe MN is def doing the right thing.

Go Mumsnet!

Ingrid

RosaLuxemburg · 08/08/2006 21:17

Think this all needs to be on another thread - this isn't an aptly titled one - need more people to see this incredibleness.

Damsella · 08/08/2006 21:18

I would set up a dedicated Paypal account and link for damsels to contribute to, which would then be forwarded to Mumsnet.

Most damsels have Paypal accounts and I think that would be the easiest way to do it.

Also I would get a name and address from Mumsnet for damsels who don't have Paypal accounts to send money direct.

myfreeforum · 08/08/2006 21:25

myfreeforum.org would do much the same thing, but meanwhile in the urgency of the here and now need for decent legal advice I'd like to know what can be done asap. If any money or lawyer recommendations are needed at once etc.

Jaysecond · 08/08/2006 21:27

I think before we set up a new thread, MNHQ need to know whats been going on and how much support there is for them, then they can decide which way forward is best appropriate for this situation. I do agree however that it needs more of our MN users to be involved, something which i am sure they would want!

My DH emailed MNHQ earlier offering the support of some non-parenting forums (reputable nonetheless!!) they replied thanking him and said they would bear it in mind. Seems like EVERYONE wants to do their bit.

Certainly if every MN'er donated £10, we would be well on the way to making a united stand. The power of people is not something to be messed with!!!

KarlMarxMilge · 08/08/2006 21:34

It is fantastic to see how much support is on here for MN. Justine and Tech are holding the fort on their own and have had a roller coaster of a day, so may not be in a position to decide how others can help immediately. They have excellent legal representation and appear to be in good hands- Mark Stephens has a 16 page CV detailing all his entertainment libel work. What may be more of an issue is how MN are paying for him( I doubt he is cheap!) - but not one that will be resolved tonight. I think Justine deserves a glass or two after all her TV appearances. I would keep checking back in to see if MNHQ move on from their "thanks very much, we'll keep you posted position". Its so great to see the online communities coming together like this.

ChandraVilla · 08/08/2006 21:43

Have just started a thread about funding to support Mumsnet to prevent these posts being overlooked in this already quite long thread, if you like you can post about ideas and funding \link:{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1374&threadid=200612&stamp=060808214108\here}

ChandraVilla · 08/08/2006 21:45

A moment too late... just added the \link\link:{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1374&threadid=200612&stamp=060808214108\thread!}

ChandraVilla · 08/08/2006 21:46

On my defense I can say I have lost the plot and in my post pregnancy memory loss I don't remember how to do links anymore...

Jaysecond · 08/08/2006 21:49

threadhere

stripeybumpsmum · 08/08/2006 22:10

Sorry, cross-threaded - see also support thread on 'In the News' MN is fabulous because

(sorry, not being very IT literate today...)

stripeybumpsmum · 08/08/2006 22:22

Aside from fundraising, would also like to mention perhaps some people have forgotten how much spending power parents have...

...and the power of the internet. Check out \www.internetrights.org.uk/index.shtml\

Anyone remember the Nike Sweatshop email episode?

MsHighwater · 08/08/2006 22:55

Just to say, I'd never knowingly heard of Mumsnet until I heard it mentioned during the discussion on Radio 2 this afternoon. I have now joined to demonstrate my support and will take these events into account when deciding what books to buy and to recommend to friends and family.

mummyhill · 09/08/2006 08:40

Welcome Mrs highwater and thank you.

MrsFogi · 09/08/2006 09:00

Welcome MsHighwater, the one good thing that has come out of this saga is that lots of people who didn't know about mn are going to discover what a wonderful place it is.
