nutcracker · 08/08/2006 12:32

My kids are getting well peed off with me now, we're meant to be on our way to the Wacky.

liquidclocks · 08/08/2006 12:42

Yep - very soon, just waiting for the adverts to be over!

nikkie · 08/08/2006 12:56

Has it been on?

joelallie · 08/08/2006 13:01

Kids watching Really Wild Show - nothing gets in the way of that What happened anyone?

andi0411 · 08/08/2006 13:13

Hi i just saw the interview on ITN news- I'm not sure if I can say anymore as it seems we're not allowed to mention a certain name- however can I say i support mumsnet's stand point 100% and think this whole thing is ludicrous!!!!!

Jaysecond · 08/08/2006 13:38

What can you say, other than the topic of the interview has done more harm than good, and i dont mean to Mumsnet.... if you know what i mean

tahir · 08/08/2006 16:31

Hope we see some kind of sane resolution to this, I'm an admin at www.downsizer.net , this will have a huge impact on all UK based forums. we're looking very closely at the issue of liability in relation to our site and would welcome dialogue with any other UK site that has concerns.

Tahir

myfreeforum · 08/08/2006 16:57

The situation is also being monitored at myfreeforum.org and we are willing to make an appeal for legal expenses and contribute ourselves.

This needs fighting.

zippitippitoes · 08/08/2006 17:00

interesting to see support coming in from those who see the wider issue for internet discussion forums too

SaintGeorge · 08/08/2006 17:01

Thank you tahir and myfreeforum - it is good to see the outside support coming in

tahir · 08/08/2006 17:12

Re funding, I'm sure if it was an issue our members would be happy to chip in too.

SaintGeorge · 08/08/2006 17:24

That's is brilliant tahir, thanks again.

I know MNHQ are obviously very busy at the moment but I will make sure they see this thread.

Not sure if we are really at the fighting fund stage yet but MNHQ need to make that decision. Right now the support itself is just great. Cheers

tahir · 08/08/2006 17:27

Between us Downsizer and myfreeforum are trying to raise awareness of the issue with people that run other UK sites, so hopefully before too long there'll be substantial support for mumsnet.

myfreeforum · 08/08/2006 18:01

We have 1000s of active forums on myfreeforum to which we could make an immediate appeal for support. So far we have only disseminated the information in our own support forums, as we don't want to jump the gun.
The admins here need to decide what to do, but even if they just want initial legal advice funding to help them figure out what to do, we are prepared to contribute on the basis of the advice being shared.
This issue is vitally important to forums and freedom of speech in general.

tigermoth · 08/08/2006 18:12

oh, been out most of the day, so missed the TV stuff - can see mumsnet is getting support from more and more people - wonderful!!

Have I missed any big developments?

Mercy · 08/08/2006 18:49

tahir and myfreeforum, just had a look at your sites.

It may be an idea for you to contact MNHQ direct as well. Good luck and thanks for the support. As we all know this could have implications for many small forums/blogs. (fora?)

btw, the yurt thing is a send up (mostly)

Laurynsmummy · 08/08/2006 18:55

I've only joined Mumsnet today. It's been all this publicity that has brought the forum to my attention. Can I say that I totally agree with the stand that Mumsnet and her leagl eagles are taking. GO MUMSNET!!!!!!

mummyhill · 08/08/2006 19:04

In response to Mercy, both Tahir and myself have used the contact form to try and get in touch with MNHQ. It occurs to both of us that if 1000 forums gave £20 each to a legal fund, then that would be some muscle.
I know myfreeforum.org would give rather more than that ourselves and i'm sure that is also true of Tahir and a great deal of other people.
This issue effects all of us running or contributing to forums, and the sooner this sort of bullying gets stopped the better.
