BBC Link

The appeal after the overturned convictions. I hope this can all be brought to a close now.

Define crime scene??? Are you serious?
They "lied" under interrogation where they were asked to imagine the other one must have done it plus the involvement of AKs boss. They did not continue to lie. Please show me where they did this.

What is a "cloth headed oaf"?

VivaLeBeaver · 31/01/2014 20:34

Cloth head is recognised slang for a stupid person. Its in the Oxford dictionary.

Umlauf · 31/01/2014 20:34

I too have followed this case for years and read the transcripts (in English) and press in both Italian and English. I am not without bias as I was in Italy on Erasmus with Meredith, and although didn't know her personally, cannot help but put myself in the shoes of AK when considering the murder, as I remember as too clearly what it was like to be 19, alone in Italy, with rudimentary Italian, quite shaken by the case, let alone under direct suspicion.

I do not believe she or RS are guilty, the evidence is so flawed and the websites linked by pp are so clearly biased, both for and against AK/RS`s guilt. AKs lies and behaviour, for me, are far more to do with the immense psychological pressure she was under - people make false confessions in far calmer circumstances - the same with her acting shifty. The way in which the case was handled by the authorities directly following the murder was appalling and has denied both AK/RS and MKs family any real hope of justice, imo.

PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 20:36

How do you know which language they conversed in? I speak reasonable French/Dutch (less so). This gets me by having conversations with work colleagues/neighbours/in shops. I think my vocabulary might be more limited on the "being interrogated/suspected of murder" front.

Ok I'm leaving. Amanda Knox is guilty.

I firmly believe this.

I also think she is incredibly good at manipulating people, a very, very clever woman. Sadly I've come across a person like her before.

Hope she is extradited.

Lioninthesun · 31/01/2014 20:37

Mixed blood DNA is surprisingly hard to get - a direct droplet of blood would have had to land on the same spot at roughly the same time. It was blood DNA not hair or faeces, which would be relatively normal in a bathroom. Blood, mixed at that, in a bidet is not normal for a bathroom, is it?

OnaPromise · 31/01/2014 20:40

I had an Italian boyfriend at that age and we barely understood each other. He was good looking with a motorbike so it didn't matter.

Can anybody who thinks they're guilty tell me what you believe the motive to be?

nostress · 31/01/2014 20:40

I'm going out shortly so no longer on PC. Lied with their various alibis contradicting each other and proven to be incorrect due to mobile phone data. Also various accounts of who they called and when. And yes crime scene. Bedroom only or bathoom or flat?

Lioninthesun · 31/01/2014 20:40

I for one am glad they called it. She is guilty, the verdict is out. Why anyone doesn't trust the investigation was done properly when they knew they would have to come up against a rich american family in court is beyond me! I'm bowing out too. All of you 'innocent!' protesters can pop open the Pringles and shed some tears into the peanuts if you so wish. Smile

PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 20:42

But it was mixed DNA - the blood bit has nothing to do with it. No one has stated that Amanda's blood was mixed with Meredith's. Not even at the trial. Just that Meredith's blood was mixed with Amanda's DNA in a bathroom she used every day.

OP posts:
Umlauf · 31/01/2014 20:43

Why not? A bidet shared by women, could be menstrual blood. And why would there be absolutely no DNA trace of AK in MKs room? Surely if directly involved in the murder for her blood to be mixed with Merediths, it would also be somewhere in the significant amounts of blood in Meredith's room. Not to mention the findings that found that the DNA traces were too low to be reliable and so small that they could not be retested.

MajesticWhine · 31/01/2014 20:43

"Can anybody who thinks they're guilty tell me what you believe the motive to be?"

OnaPromise - do you think Rudy Guede is guilty. Doesn't the same question then apply to him?

expatinscotland · 31/01/2014 20:44

'Hope she is extradited.'

I wouldn't hold my breath. Still trying to get my head round how people can be tried three times for the same crime. At any rate, it's made the Italian court/justice system look farcical and completely lacking in credibility.

PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 20:45

And yes - why did they leave NO evidence at the scene (unlike Rudi Guede) if this was an attack/rape by all 3 of them?

OP posts:
PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 20:48

Lion - what possible influence do you think an average Middle Class American family (they are not rich) could have over the Italian legal process? Unless they are related to the Godfather or something?

OP posts:
PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 20:49

RS's family are supposedly quite well off and well supported. it didn't prevent him spending years in prison.

DoctorTwo · 31/01/2014 20:50

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Between two women who lived together? Like fuck. Check out what happens when women live together, they often synchronise periods.

Why anyone doesn't trust the investigation was done properly

The prosecutor they brought in came up with the entire scenario. He's well known for it. He sees sex crimes where there are none.

This case would not have been prosecuted in the Uk, because there is no evidence, either physical or circumstantial, to link the two to the scene of the crime.

BigW · 31/01/2014 20:52

I have no idea whether she is guilty or not, but they have double jeopardy in the states, which means that you can't be tried for the same crime twice. I therefore doubt that she'll be extradited.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 31/01/2014 20:53

I would say that this is a case of male rape/violence against women - by Rudi Guede. The motive was a predatory sexual attack against Meredith.

I don't think Knox or Sollecito had anything to do with it.

BigW · 31/01/2014 20:56

For what it's worth, I don't believe it was her. But whatever the truth, justice has not been done here and that is incredibly sad.

PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 20:58

I understand that is a grey area BigW - as in eg they would not extradite her to face a charge abroad when she was found innocent in USA

JennySense · 31/01/2014 20:58

I like to think I'm a reasonably intelligent person but I find this case so difficult to follow. Every time I think I've understood some evidence, I come across another news source or web site which refutes it.

Has any one found anywhere which has the facts [and that I don't need to learn Italian to follow] ?

PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 20:59

I am with Sabrina - and as far I can see, that is what the actual evidence supports.

The reporting about AK has been VILE! The UK papers, especially the DM, took away any focus from Meredith, by plastering all the Foxy Knoxy shit all over, blood soaked bathroom etc etc. They even claimed AK was found guilty at the appeal trial, and had supporting statements that were totally made up. It quickly disappeared when they realised what twats they had been. I could probably find a screen shot though....
