"Because her husband was away that week so she would have wanted the baby to be born whilst he way away so he wouldn't find out."

She was extremely calculated, definitely no case for mental unwellness here!

Viviennemary · 18/09/2012 18:25

Capital punishment doesn't work. Hmm. Well I think it should be brought in for murderers of children and serial killers. It works in so far as these people won't be murdering anybody else.

pumpkinsweetie · 18/09/2012 18:26

I also wonder why she suddenly thought at 38 weeks it could have been someone elses baby?? Surely if she didn't want to go ahead she could have had an early termination, adoption or simply pass the baby off as her husbands or own upConfused

Its a really stupid reason for terminating but surely doing it early would have been more humane!Angry
The woman is pure evil and i hope once free from her lenient sentence will never be allowed to reproduce again.

lovechoc · 18/09/2012 18:26

And I don't agree with posters that emotions are getting involved here. The woman in question should be getting herself booked in to be sterilised (or get contraception sorted out). Either that or shut her legs. What an upset she's causing, and how sad that her children will one day read all about it.

pumpkinsweetie · 18/09/2012 18:27

Capital punishment should be bought back for child killers & peadophiles as children are innocent & have their whole lifes ahead of them which need protecting from evil

cakeismysaviour · 18/09/2012 18:28

It could be a coincidence that her husband was away that week.

I suppose that she could have induced her labour whilst her husband was at work or something, but either way for obvious reasons she didn't want to go into labour naturally. She was concealing the pregnancy and intended to conceal the baby.

She wanted to control when she went into labour and gave birth, which is why she purchased the drugs.

cakeismysaviour · 18/09/2012 18:32

She tried to book a termination, but she found out she was pregnant at a stage too late for that.

She couldn't have done a legal adoption, as her husband would have been aware of that.

She didn't suddenly think at 38 weeks that it was her lover's baby, she concealed the pregnancy all along for that reason and ordered the drugs in advance.

DancehallDaze · 18/09/2012 18:38

I see no evidence whatsoever that she killed the baby, either before birth or after.

joona · 18/09/2012 18:39

Ok... So then now that her husband knows she was pregnant, that she was having an affair, that the child may have been her lover's, and yet has chosen to stand by her...

Then why will she STILL not reveal where she buried the baby? She has nothing left to hide if a natural still birth after an induced labour is all there is to it..

The answer imo is that she DOES still have something to hide... That the baby was not stillborn as she claims, and she knows that an autopsy following the dicovery of the babys body will uncover this.

Thats the mystery. :(

I personally think that either she killed the baby or she sold it for illegal adoption. :(

joona · 18/09/2012 18:44

In which case, i stand by my previous statement in saying that she should be forced to have a hystorectomy. Women like that should not be allowed to go on conceiving with no thought for the welfare of the children she produces.

LynetteScavo · 18/09/2012 18:46

I agree with cakeismysaviour.

She's only been found guilty of a late abortion because she can't be found guilty of murder.

I think if the baby had been illegally adopted, there would be some evidence on her PC.

Viviennemary · 18/09/2012 18:51

I didn't realise she had not revealed where she had hidden the body. In that case she should be kept in prison until she does.

cakeismysaviour · 18/09/2012 18:52

She had previously given up a baby for adoption (before her marriage) and had also had a termination with her husband's agreement.

I can't imagine why she didn't take steps to ensure she didn't get pregnant again, or maybe she did try to do that??

joona · 18/09/2012 18:56

She also tried to have another termination, but was refused because she was too far gone.

I doubt she has tried to ensure she doesnt fall pregnant again. One accident yes, maybe 2 at a push... But 4?? I find that very hard to believe.

perceptionreality · 18/09/2012 18:56

'Either that or shut her legs.'

It's really sad that women collude in misogyny against each other isn't it?

Tamoo · 18/09/2012 18:57

Saying that the baby was stillborn and refusing to say where the body is meant there was not enough evidence for her to be charged with murder. Surely this is a calculated manoeuvre on her part? Instead of being charged with murder she gets the procuring miscarriage/administering poison charge and only gets 8 yrs.

Either that or following on from the denial aspect of her past obstetric history she was in denial that the child would be born alive, and is now in denial about the fact that she either killed it or allowed it to die.

I'm surprised by the fact a woman going to her GP and requesting an abortion at 36 weeks for no reason didn't ring enough alarm bells to get social workers knocking on her door? Surely such a request indicates an imminent state of crisis? In this case it appears that the woman was coldly desperate to be rid of her baby by any mean, but it could have indicated any number of things, eg a woman living in some desperate situation at home, abuse, rape, severe depression, psychosis...why did someone not address this sooner?

lovechoc · 18/09/2012 18:58

Why perception? Better to be blunt about it, after all there's a small baby in all of this mess that's somewhere in the ether because of this daft woman who cannot cope with family planning/contraception! A spade's a spade...

joona · 18/09/2012 18:59

So you think it's acceptable for her to keep falling pregnant & discarding the babies, either through abortion or adoption then?

I certainly dont.
But maybe thats just me.

lovechoc · 18/09/2012 18:59

This woman clearly knows how to play the system, and she's making sure they do not find out what happened to this baby. Very cunning.

cakeismysaviour · 18/09/2012 18:59

Am I right in thinking that she is in her mid to late thirties?

Would probably be better for her and for everyone else involved if she is too old to become pregnant again after her release.

lovechoc · 18/09/2012 18:59

Thanks joona, at least someone out there can see where I'm coming from!!Hmm
