My RT arrived in the post this morning and my DS 16 opened it with enthusiasm as it's the first of four Olympic editions. The look on his face got my attention then I saw the cover and my jaw dropped! Now I am not a woman of colour or religious but OMG it must have been a man who signed off on this... I shudder to think of this on London newstands when all our foreign Olympic athletes and visitors hit town. What do others think? Am I being prudish or unreasonable? (It is going in a cover btw)

OP posts:

no but very curious what it is now. Trying to google, but not having much luck

Nancy66 · 17/07/2012 12:59

haven't seen it - what's on the cover?

whojamaflip · 17/07/2012 13:01

Very curious - also tried google but nothing to be found

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 17/07/2012 13:16

Ours is someone on a BMX bikeConfused

Nothing controversial to see here!

Marrow · 17/07/2012 13:20

Picture of a male diver on ours. What's on yours?!

QuestionsaboutDS · 17/07/2012 14:20

There's a male diver, a female hurdler, a male gymnast and a BMX biker . I assume the OP doesn't like the hurdler, but from the tiny picture I've got I can't see the problem.

Nancy66 · 17/07/2012 14:24

so it's a 'lunchbox in lycra' thing that you're objecting to OP?

nymeria · 17/07/2012 14:29

It might help if you say what the problem is...Confused

piprabbit · 17/07/2012 14:32

Here are some RT covers it looks like they are using 4 different pictures of athletes in 4 versions of the cover - so maybe different people are getting different covers?

Which one did you get all4u? It's hard to see if there is anything to get excited about in any of the photos.

AspirantPirate · 17/07/2012 14:34

I've got the cover with the female hurdler. My first (and only, actually) thought on seeing it was 'hurray, a female athlete!' (after having been watching the 'Faster, Higher, Stroger' series on the BBC which seems to have mysteriously omitted women from the entire history of the Olympics, with the exceptionof gymnastics).

I fail to see what being religious or a woman of colour has to do with anything?

FanjoAndGash · 17/07/2012 14:34

Can you link to a picture?

piprabbit · 17/07/2012 14:36

Fanjo - I've just posted a link above.

pictish · 17/07/2012 14:38

Eh? What's to see?

TobyLerone · 17/07/2012 14:38

I don't get it.

Nancy66 · 17/07/2012 14:39

so must be something to do with female athlete- but not sure what???

nymeria · 17/07/2012 14:42

I don't get it either. What's the 'woman of colour' thing about? I can't make out on my screen what race/colour most of the people on those covers are, but don't see anything obviously objectionable about them. Or anything anti-religion.

It's a bunch of athletes doing athletic stuff Confused. That's what the Olympics is about, right?

Marvellous · 17/07/2012 15:12

Where's the OP gone?

CinnabarRed · 17/07/2012 15:20

Really can't see anything to object to?

FartBlossom · 17/07/2012 15:27

just seen pics, just what I thought someone being over sensitive to .... well ...... nothing actually.

OwlsOnStrings · 17/07/2012 15:32

It must be a different picture to any of the ones above, if it's "going in a cover". The ones above are just of athletes.

OwlsOnStrings · 17/07/2012 15:33

(sorry, maybe the OP just meant that was going in a cover in their house?)

MimsyBorogroves · 17/07/2012 15:47

I'm intrigued.

AmandinePoulain · 17/07/2012 15:51

I've got the hurdler cover, what's wrong with it? And what's the colour of my skin got to do with it? Please come back and explain! Hmm Confused

Northernlurker · 17/07/2012 15:54

I've got the hurdler cover. The breasts on the athlete are a bit Lara Croft on close inspection. Is that the concern?

Nancy66 · 17/07/2012 15:59

is there a camel toe situation?
