I cannot believe someone, even someone in the Conservative Party, would say this. Angry Shock Angry

How can anyone support them?

The British public paid for a private education for all the royal family, including those not remotely likely to succeed, i.e. Anne, Edward, their four children, Andrew's two children, and Harry; and their childen in the future; and they will all have police protection including when they go out privately clubbing when no-one wanted them to.

And pretending that they are somehow paying for all this themselves is unrealistic, I think.

I don't seriously think Beatrice is working two jobs to save for her future children's private education.

So would I CommunistMoon,do these people think that you can just walk in the job centre and say "hey, I fancy some of that disability money, just transfer me on to DLA".Do they not know that firstly DLA is not an out of work benefit and secondly just how hard it is to be awarded it.The DWP,s own figures estimate the fraud at 0.5% not the huge figures that are being bandied about.

These essential therapys were thin on the ground before the cuts, good luck getting them now.

BananaGio · 09/06/2012 21:52

When in a hole start throwing barbs about North Korea, Marxism, feckless poor, benefit scroungers etc etc. Why can't you provide facts to back up your arguments?

limitedperiodonly · 09/06/2012 21:59

bananagio you forgot Commie Four. I think the peerless wit was referring to a report on Channel 4 News.

ttosca · 09/06/2012 21:59

Novack-

Mamma that is not poverty though is it. It's just a relative lack of wealth compared to your peers and is more akin to marxist wealth redistribution to suggest that the unemployed deserve 60% of median for doing nothing all day.

You have some strange ideas.

First of all, relative wealth matters a great deal. Many studies have shown that poor relative wealth profoundly affects someone's health, happiness and well-being. Poor relative income also means that a person can't participate in the normal daily activities of society which require money.

Secondly, the JSA which the unemployed received isn't 'free'. It has been paid for by their NI contributions, and by everyone else's. It's one of the things I am more than happy to pay tax for out of my income, as opposed to subsidies for banks, and invading countries illegally and killing hundreds of thousands of people.

Finally, JSA people don't 'sit around all days doing nothing'. The income they receive from their JSA they use to survive and pay the bills and eat. They spend their time looking for jobs, which is a full-time job in itself.

The fact that you're so clueless about all of this shows that you have never been on JSA and probably don't know anyone who ever has. Maybe that's why you're a Tory scum supporter.

It's sad to say, but it may take a misfortune for you, a loved one, or a friend, for their circumstances to change, for you to start reconsidering your position.

NovackNGood · 09/06/2012 21:59

The use of the word poverty to describe someone on 60% of median is just emotive nonsense when in fact they are far better off than the worlds poor who suffer real poverty.

Prince Charles paid for his sons education and he recieves nothing from the civil list at all.

Of course I should be able to use the services whilst I am compelled to pay for them Mini. But then the NHS and the welfare sate has grown bloated far in excess of what it's original intention was and there are plenty of areas that should be scaled back to allow services to be better aimed at the real hardship cases.

CommunistMoon · 09/06/2012 22:02

Oh well. I'm off to drink some wine and watch "This Life" on DVD. I'm not even sure what time it is here in North Korea, but I'll check back in for some keenly-awaited facts tomorrow.

limitedperiodonly · 09/06/2012 22:03

Linerunner Beatrice will breed and I will slave in perpetuity to support her spawn? Nooooooo!

MiniTheMinx · 09/06/2012 22:03

Novak, you clearly do not understand, I gave you proof up thread that capitalism creates the need for a welfare state and you blindly ignore this. You do not engage in the argument, you are just parroting opinion that isn't based on concrete evidence and worse it is wilfully ignorant.

MiniTheMinx · 09/06/2012 22:04

What are REAL hardship cases? in your opinion?

MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 22:06

The use of the word poverty to describe someone on 60% of median is just emotive nonsense when in fact they are far better off than the worlds poor who suffer real poverty.

It is the accepted definition of relative poverty. It's not emotive nonsense when it's objective fact. I'm not claiming it's the same as absolute poverty (which is people living on $2 a day).

How did Charles afford two boarding places at Eton? Owning Cornwall?

BananaGio · 09/06/2012 22:07

Exactly mini. I am getting older here and still no facts (drumming fingers on table)

NovackNGood · 09/06/2012 22:08

No mini you cherry picked the USA as the example of free market capitalism but that society has its own unique problems. If the US could get rid of the 11 million illegal immigrants in their society tomorrow they would have full employment and everyone would be able to afford their health insurance.

MiniTheMinx · 09/06/2012 22:09

Banana, I have made a hole in the table Grin

BananaGio · 09/06/2012 22:09

Illegal immigrants! Dont think we've had that yet have we??

MiniTheMinx · 09/06/2012 22:11

Sorry, Novak, you want all the immigrants thrown out of America, why? Send them back to south america, why do that when you can turn a blind eye to the factories on the boarders who pay those staff less than $2 an hour. You think good old uncle sam want's to cut off his nose.

NovackNGood · 09/06/2012 22:11

Linerunner 2 places at Eton would only have cost him around 70K year. Nothing compared to the 20 million he had to give to divorce that woman?

NicholasTeakozy · 09/06/2012 22:13

Fellow lefties: don't argue with the trolls Tories on this thread, they're so intelligent and far more educated than us. Proved by their inability to provide proof for their ludicrous claims.

Let's face it, if there was any evidence that the poor get rich under the Torycunts? they'd be shouting from the rooftops. But there isn't.

MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 22:14

12.7 million in the US Hmm

OP posts:
NovackNGood · 09/06/2012 22:14

Mini it was an example of a unique problem of that society. If Bush had not signed his act with Panama apple would not be paying their taxes in Irelandand luxembourg on products bought throughout europe and keeping almost 100 billion offshore. Another of their unique problems.

MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 22:14

12.7 million unemployed. Sorry

OP posts:
JosephineCD · 09/06/2012 22:15

Do the poor get rich under Labour?

MiniTheMinx · 09/06/2012 22:16

Yes, too nervous to discuss our own immigration problem, of course we don't have one, or do we, can never quite make up my mind! Those on the right are very confused over this issue. They want businesses to profit from cheap unregulated labour even if it is in their back yard because if we are really lucky these said businesses may pay a few crumbs in tax. On the other hand, all these strangers taking jobs away and creating hysteria unemployment can't be tolerated, so why not deregulate labour here, or better still have workfare slaves.
