From the BBC, Dobson and Norris both found guilty of murder.

Not read all the thread but does anyone know, of the @ 10,000 murders in England & Wales since 1993, how many have been solved?

No idea whatsoever. But I suspect there are hundreds of crimes that are not solved (or if they are have not have guilty verdicts). Look at the number of people missing in suspicious circumstances that have never been found. I have heard that in some high profile cases they know what happened but have never got convictions - I did hear that the police suspect the Wests killed more women, but the investigation stopped. No idea if that is true or not, but it does seem families have to put pressure on the police to get a result in older cases.

I see the dailymail is acting as if they are the ones responsible for these convictions. Anyone else think that is a load of rubbish and if anything they have ensured that the defence have good grounds for an appeal by claiming that they could not receive a fair trial due to the media coverage (the mail put their pictures up twice with the headline "murderers".

I agree, kelly, about the Daily Mail . Much back-patting going on there.

Sentencing is happening now aparently. God, can you imagine growing up knowing that one of them was your father?

I'd love it if they could give them the 12 year minimum they have to start with and then add on the 18 years that they've been swanning around as free men. 30 years...yeah, I'd be happy with that!

wahwah yeah, but their dad will be a hero to those kids. They're not normal people being brought up with normal values and a sense of right and wrong.

They've been in and out of prison during the last 18 years. It's a lifestyle and sadly the little ones will probably want to be just like daddy.

Imagine your kids going to the same school as them. Scary.

Whatever they get, it wont be enough. To murder someone for no reason, then keep spouting racist crap (as seen on the police under cover video), with aparently no remorse for what they have done, then they are not fit to be in society.

There was someone on the radio yesterday saying that there is on over-representation of young black men in prison. Their lives will not be safe.

Life sentences with 15 years 2 months for Dobson, 14 years 3 months for Norris

Does anyone know if Dobson has to complete the five years he's currently serving for drug trafficking before the sentence for murder starts? It's not fair if he doesn't.

Well yeah wah, I think life should mean life...literally, as they do in America. But we live in the UK so have to take the crap sentences.

I would have thought he would have the extra years tacked on to the 5.

not sure if he is still serving that time. He may well have done sometime on remand for it, and if so he could have been already out on licence.

According to the Guardian pan he was still in jail whilst standing trial.

I read that one of them had already been beaten up in prison. Which isn't reflecting well on the prison service imo.

It'd be great if he had to serve 20 years...by the time he was eligible for parole it would have been 38 years since Stephen was murdered.

They should make them do hard labour in jail, while they think of fellow gang members who were involved in the murder swanning round on the outside in BMWs.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. 18 years too late, but I'm happy that the racist scum have been jailed.
