picture on p.6
for her birthday, Tom takes her skating. Is this really recommended for pregnant women? Or is he so on his own planet that anything goes?

It's just like Tom Cruise to shut down a public place and have special entry just for him and his guests. When he was in London for a movie preview a couple of years ago, he tried to get BA to open the London Eye just for him, and they refused...

Not everyone thinks you are worth the trouble, Tom.

So for her 27th bday, as well as controversial skating, she got to eat cake/play Barbies out-of-hours at FAO Schwartz? Hmm, great treat. Very Michael Jackson.
And how curious that they got papped there, despite shop being shut

NotQuiteCockney · 21/12/2005 15:12

Ice skating is a lot more "normal" in the (northern) US than it is here. Odds are, she's a good skater, and is fine. I'm sure she was careful anyway.

(I do think Tom and Katie are mad and weird and bonkers. I just don't think this is really that odd.)

ruty · 21/12/2005 17:21

er, i'm assuming she wanted to go to the toy shop in a maternal way...yes??

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 21/12/2005 17:40

the girl is from Ohio. which is under snow for 4 months of the year. she was practially born on skates and I doubt has fallen over since she was about 6. I wouldn't hesitate to skate at her stage and with her background - risks are about the same as tripping over a curb while crossing the road.

Still think Tom is a complete wierdo, though!

It's wierd only in the context of everything they do is utterly wierd and bonkers, IYSWIM.

lets not forget the girl is going to stay silent throughout her labour. Is that possible ?

thecattleareALOHing · 21/12/2005 18:21

It's a bloody photo-opportunity. They are loons.

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 21/12/2005 18:22

and it's worked - we're all talking about them!

How dare you all mock? For those of you that believe, anything is possible (Even if I do end up running you over in a tractor )

puffoeufnog · 21/12/2005 18:29

Ice skating is fine.

My mother did it on New Years Eve 8.5 months pregnant with my brother. We have pics

The dangerous bit IMO is being involved with Tom Cruise

ruty · 21/12/2005 18:53

does Tom actually believe in what Travolta depicted in that awful film then? [no, i haven't see it all.]

Blandmum · 21/12/2005 18:54

he might not, but scientologists beliecve in some crazy stuff!

thecattleareALOHing · 21/12/2005 18:54

Everybody hide! It's the Martian Bishop....on his tractor!

tortoiseshell · 21/12/2005 18:56

She's not that pregnant - same as me I think (about 5 months) - but Enid, you know we were feeling huge.....nothing compared to her!

thecattleareALOHing · 21/12/2005 18:58

Five months? absolutely not!

tortoiseshell · 21/12/2005 19:03

Well I'm 22 weeks, and they announced she was 3 months pregnant when I was about 13 weeks. I agree she looks much more pregnant than that, but even on those dates she must have conceived about 3 or 4 weeks after they started dating!

coribells · 21/12/2005 19:19

I am going ice skating after Christmas, am 4.5 months pregnant. I know how to skate, though havent been for a while, If I feel like I have a balance problem i will sit down. I dont think the risk is really that great tbh.

ruty · 22/12/2005 09:15

i'm quite a good skater [tho i say so myself!] but still wouldn't go pregnant because of those silly people that`tear around then fall over right in front of you. Skates are sharp!
