Surprise surprise. Stupid stupid people.

diddl · 26/08/2011 13:29

Wonder what happened to the twat who did it?

MrsRobertDuvall · 26/08/2011 14:20

Poor man.
But I have laughed at the photo along with the rest of you heartless harpies Wink

happywheezer · 26/08/2011 14:26

It's always men that do this!
They always think they are unique and some "accident" happened. rather than admitting that they put things up their arse for a laugh.
My friends who have worked in A and E have endless stories about men coming in saying they have just fallen on things. And they accidently end up in their bum.
The xrays are good though apparently.
Examples are snooker cues and toliet brush handles.

AlpinePony · 26/08/2011 14:27

All of you who think this is "funny" are absolutely disgusting. Shock:(

Your ignorance astounds me twice, once for thinking it's "funny" and two, for not keeping up with the fucking news and realising that this is a criminal case of assault.

Would it be "funny" if someone forced this up your vagina? No? An embolism can kill you.

diddl · 26/08/2011 15:25

I don´t think people find the incident itself funny, but the way it is being portrayed as a random accident.

goodasgold · 26/08/2011 15:39

I think its a funny article Alpine Pony.

If somebody forced anything up my vagina I would contact the police. I would not try to make out that it was a freak accident.

Pootles2010 · 26/08/2011 15:44

I think the guy in question was not the wisest going to Daily Mail - its pretty obvious it was written before court case so they couldn't say what actually happened, and haven't painted him in the best possible light.

Imagine he was trying to get some money to try to make up for the fact he now can't work.

frillyflower · 28/08/2011 01:03

The poor man has a perforated bowel. He was assaulted by some idiot who thought it was a joke. I imagine he has had to make it public to claim insurance/compensation.

Really not funny at all.

MrsRhettButler · 28/08/2011 01:09

We had these pressurised air hoses in college, they are very dangerous and anyone who works with one will know the risk, they can easily kill someone.
If you were to press it against your skin even, it could get inside your body and travel up to your brain, that's when they are most dangerous, if the air gets into your brain you can quite easily die :(

KatieMiddleton · 28/08/2011 01:21

Agree with AlpnePony. Horrible thread, horrible comments in the most part. Shame on you.

KatieMiddleton · 28/08/2011 01:24

Agree with AlpinePony. Horrible thread, horrible comments in the most part. A man was seriously assaulted. Would you be laughing if it was your dh or DS?

Shame on those who have treated this as a joke.

bedheadz · 28/08/2011 01:47

We had those in tech class. I was terrified after the teacher told us a similar tale. The guy is lucky to be alive.

sakura · 28/08/2011 13:42

I don't think anyone knew he'd been assaulted did they. the article hardly spells it out. It does read as though the hose accidentally got there and THAT is what the people here are taking the piss out of.

If this has been done to him by a group of bullies then that's a new development in the story and yes, it's disgusting

AlpinePony · 28/08/2011 14:13

sakura the story has been reported more than once fgs. It's not difficult to obtain facts, in fact, the dm themselves ran a story saying it was assault.

I am further shocked at the ignoramus' posting in the 'news' section who seem oblivious to er.... The 'news'.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 28/08/2011 14:22

FGS, there is absolutely nothing in that article to say that it was a 'prank' played by colleagues. So either the posters getting on their high horses have read the article elsewhere or are making as many assumptions as everyone else.

He was wearing shorts and somehow one of these lines went into his bottom, ripping his clothing and sending air rushing inside his body.

That reads like the many stories my best friend in A&E sees. Nothing to indicate the colleagues being involved, men turning up with goldfish up their bottoms with no apparent idea how they got there...

If it was assault then surely the article would say so as it's a bloody serious one. But we're not mind readers.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 28/08/2011 14:23

Oh and apologies for not trawling every newspaper to get the full story. I didn't realise we were supposed to study the topic in depth before commenting on a link that someone posts. Hmm

SquongebobSparepants · 28/08/2011 15:18

I think the point AlpinePony (and others) are trying to make is that the 'potato up the bum' etc stories are all very amusing as they weren't life threatening, if you read the article linked to it clearly reports that it happened at work, when he had colleagues workign behind him so unlikely to be a sex game gone wrong, and the man is seriously injured I would expect a little more sympathy. Not jokes.

There are lots of things you could take the piss out of, this is not one of them.

diddl · 28/08/2011 15:25

"He was wearing shorts and somehow one of these lines went into his bottom, ripping his clothing and sending air rushing inside his body."

I think that would be impossible though.

So it was either going to be self inflicted or "mates".

KatieMiddleton · 28/08/2011 15:44

Pootles2010Fri 26-Aug-11 13:14:02

It was a prank, see here

^^ For those of you who may have missed it up the thread.(so no need for trawling through t'internet).

I hope the man who did it not only loses his job (as should have happened) but also faces criminal charges.

KatieMiddleton · 28/08/2011 15:48

And for the record I like a 'man "fell" on hoover' or (personal favourite) 'the scan that revealed several lodged Barbie heads in rectum' stories as much as the next person. Except this isn't one of those. This wasn't some bit of self-inflicted sexual foolish-ness gone wrong. This was a horrible, serious assult that resulted in some very serious and long-lasting injuries and could have killed the poor bloke.

Ripeberry · 30/08/2011 20:12

Compressed air like this is dangerous. It can rip your insides and cause death in some cases. Did they not read the bit about "Not to be used by children"? Hmm

kelly2000 · 31/08/2011 16:24

I have heard of guys doing this to each other as a prank which is what happened here. It is actually very dangerous and can kill people so I hope the guy who did it faces a full criminal prosecution. Why is it funny it it happens to a guy, I cannot imagine anyone laughing if a group of women had shoved a hose up a female colleagues vagina or anus. I for one do not expect to go to work and be assaulted by colleagues having a laugh.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 31/08/2011 16:29

This chap was on 'This Morning' today. He had a 6 inch tear in his bowel. Eamonn Holmes still laughed

FantasticVoyage · 31/08/2011 17:18

Not really funny this, is it?

We all have a pretty shrewd idea of what happened, but I guess the reason this is being classed as an accident is because the case is against the company for not having carried out proper training on equipment and an appropriate safety regime.

The victim has to take action against the company because it was one of their employees who carried out the prank in working hours. It's now up to the company to take out disciplinary proceedings against the individual(s) involved, and for the CPS to bring assault charges.
