Allcake. Yes, I hope things get quieter, most of all I hope everyone can learn something from this experience so it never happens again.

And please don't say I hope they all learn to be nice hardworking people.

Nancy66 · 07/08/2011 19:45

sing - i know many people work hard in low paid jobs.
But there's no denying there's a section of the community that don't ever intend to come by their money and possessions by honest means.

singforsupper · 07/08/2011 19:47

Nancy of course there are crooks out there, but in this day and age people shouldn't really NEED to be crooks. If it was a little bit easier for them to get a job, the transition from unemployment to working a little easier financially you bet there will be fewer people wanting to be crooks.

FellatioNelson · 07/08/2011 19:52

So the funding formula was changed to reflect the fact that the Muswell Hill parents can afford to pay for the school's little luxuries? I'm not surprised they are up in arms about it. Their children are in state education. They should not expect their children's state education to be downgraded and for them to be expected to stump up the difference to bring it back up to par, so that extra can be siphoned off and given to the 'poorer' school down the road but in the same LEA. Because it's not the school that's poorer is it? It's the intake. Blimey, they'd get knocked like hell if they all went private, then they are treated like they should go private. Hmm

So anyway, now the balance has been redressed to account for those pesky Muswell Hill yummy mummies and their OTT fund raising, has it made any difference? Are the Tottenham children catching up in the league tables at all?

Nancy66 · 07/08/2011 19:56

singforsupper - they'd get jobs far easier if they turned up for school and had parents that gave a shit about their education.

singforsupper · 07/08/2011 20:03

Go and wipe the foam off your mouths ladies, it doesn't look good.

I hope the government brings in a lottery system for schools so you might have to stand in the playground and talk to some of these lazy mothers about their truanting children.

!!!!

Al0uiseG · 07/08/2011 20:05

How can we talk to them if their children are truanting? Crack house coffee mornings!

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 20:13

I notice I never got an answer from you sing. I'm guessing you can't justify letting child abusers have children.

So, Diane, black mothers will do anything for their children, will they?

Just spat my drink out reading that one. I'm geniunely laughing out loud!

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 20:18

I'll correct that statement for her-

Some mothers will do anything for their children. Don't see what being black has got to do with it at all.

redlac6 · 07/08/2011 20:20

Seems to be kicking off in Enfield now according to twitter

chibi · 07/08/2011 20:22

link to guardian riot live blog see the entry around 7:30 ish (i forgot when exactly whoops)

'reliable sources' are saying that the bullet in the police radio looks to be a police issue one

Interesting.

dreamingbohemian · 07/08/2011 20:23

Well it was only a matter of time before the eugenics arguments started, after all we already did prison camps a while back (ie all the comments about fencing them in, haha I'll bring the tear gas!)

Bloody fascists. Seriously. I'm off.

goingbacktowork · 07/08/2011 20:26

Currently people are smashing up Enfield High Street!

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 20:26

Bloody fascists. Seriously. I'm off.

Don't forget your latte and Guardian, Dreaming Grin

dreamingbohemian · 07/08/2011 20:27

'The early suggestion from the IPCC was that the Met officers had returned fire after someone in the minicab opened fire. But the result of the ballistics early test suggests both shots fired came from the police.'

How about that?

But I'm sure now you will all want to wait and see before commenting.

Now I'm really off.

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 20:28

Nope. Still doesn't justify burning buildings and smashing up shops. Sorry.

LDNmummy · 07/08/2011 20:29

Sidge what I meant is that they had already apprehended him. Some witnesses have already stated he was in police hands when actually shot.

LucreziaDomina · 07/08/2011 20:30

There were two shots, he was shot twice. We already know that.

Personally, even if all he was doing was pointing a gun at an officer, he still doesn't have a leg to stand on.

somethingwitty82 · 07/08/2011 20:32

chibi

guns dont shoot bullets(thats the whole thing including propellant), they shoot rounds,)the tip) which are 5.56mmwide and on impact crush up to a mess unidentifiable by eye

SO whoever fed you that is full of shit

EdithWeston · 07/08/2011 20:33

There is a separate thread about Enfield - here, for those interested. There have been confirmed reports of two incidents of window smashing and damage to one police car, but nothing more. Let's hope that remains all.
