Unbelievable.
Aside from the very clear moral issues, the thought of having sex with my colleagues there let alone with someone they had also just had sex with is revolting.
It most definitely does happen in this country too - DP's old company used to do it. He refused to take part in any of these 'socials' including the lap dancing nights and never got promoted, despite being top salesman every month/quarter/year. That's why he left.
Similarly, he was away on business at a fairly decent hotel in the Midlands and there was a party/conference thing there for another company and the place was filled with escorts.

The worst thing was how blatant it was and the fact that an old guy started boasting to him about how many women he'd had while his wife was at home.
Sad and vile.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/05/2011 12:02

The bit about the armbands and tqhe stamping is the bit that horrified me the most. Is that weird? The idea that it was so organised and the women were just equipment. I really hope these men don't breed

RobF · 20/05/2011 12:07

How many men would complain if a female dominated organisation had a girls night out at a male strip club?

So much of this is just hatred of men for being men. The people with the problem are the complainers. People that work hard all year to make sales (and give their families a fantastic lifestyle) deserve one night a year to blow off some steam.

Excuse me? What kind of forum is this? The kind where one person says something, and everyone else has to agree?

Is Mumsnet just a forum for slagging off men? Because that's how its starting to seem.

Well thank you RobF for that enlightened view on organized sex trafficking. When you go home to the wife/partner (assuming you have one), just tell her that you are going out with the boys from work to get some whoring done as you 'deserve one night a year to blow off some steam' in return for providing partner and any children with food on the table and a roof over their head. I'll assume that your comment is just a provocation. Altho' it would be interesting to see your reaction if your partner said - I'm off out tonight as Im an escort and I've been hired to treat the sales execs.

I was wondering what kind of wanker would find this acceptable. Well, now we know.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/05/2011 12:22

Aren't strip clubs different to prostitutes, though? I mean, personally I can't think of anything worse than watching some oiled bloke waggle his giblets about the place to dodgy techno, but it's not the same as fucking him is it?

MollysChamber · 20/05/2011 12:23

Wow Rob.

I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that your first comment was just an ill-advised sick joke.

"hatred for men being men" - If that's what you really think then you are a moron.

'men being men'?! FFS Rob.

My DP is a man and finds the whole idea of this and lapdancing clubs etc abhorrent. He does not look at porn for the same reasons.
He scuppered his chances for promotion by sticking to his principles and putting his family first until he could leave the company.
That is a 'man'. Not your warped idea of one.

AbsDuCroissant · 20/05/2011 12:24

Rob, there are many many ways in which you can blow off steam. Go for a run, go for a drink etc. etc. I don't think you and your team mates sleeping with and passing around a human being is really an acceptable, morally or anything, way of doing this. As kerry said - there are issues with STDs which could be passed on to your wife and any unborn children. I really cannot comprehend how any decent human being would think that doing this is acceptable, or desirable, or just a way to blow off steam?

I know for certain that visits to lapdancing clubs is very common in the City. I know someone who's female and in sales for a top tier bank, and very often has to take clients to strip clubs etc., and hates it. Although for most large companies it is completely against the expenses policy to do this, the clubs themselves come up as "Bob's steak house" or such on reciepts, rather than "Bob's sleazy stripjoint".

AbsDuCroissant · 20/05/2011 12:26

Rob, if you're trying to convince people on here that you're a wonderful man, you are doing spectacularly badly.

How would you feel, for e.g., if they had male escorts instead of female? Would you also be alright with that?

Hullygully · 20/05/2011 12:28

"blow off some steam"

It just all seems so odd.

So you've flogged a load of insurance (the glamour), pop along for a party, wife and kids at home, and queue up for a go with a lady of the night.

Just weird.

And aren't there any female salespeople.

I do very much like the idea that there were special white armbands for the board.

RobF · 20/05/2011 12:31

I'm not saying that all men would find it acceptable. I do not know if I would, I have never had sex with prostitutes, nor had sex in front of work colleagues. But I do not think i have the right to impose my beliefs on others! If these men were fine with it, and the girls were fine with it, where exactly is the problem? What gives YOU or anyone else to say that it is "wrong" and should be banned?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/05/2011 12:31

The White arm band ladies probably had stronger stomachs, so they wouldn't barf at the sight of all that flabby, over entitled flesh. Complete with well hidden cock.

RobF · 20/05/2011 12:32

"How would you feel, for e.g., if they had male escorts instead of female? Would you also be alright with that?"
I wouldn't have a problem at all, assuming that was what all involved wanted. Where is the problem with consenting adults having sex with each other?

MoreBeta · 20/05/2011 12:32

RobF - you are way wrong. Totally wrong.

More to the point, this kind of thing is totally and unecessary for the furtherance of business or entertaining clients. A small proportion of men do it because they can and someone else is paying. End of.

Hullygully · 20/05/2011 12:32

Rob Rob Rob

Really?

That thick?

Bless.

I dunno. I just think rewarding people with vacant vaginas is a bit...well, revolting.

RobF · 20/05/2011 12:35

"Do you know ANYTHING about prostitution Rob?"
I am sure you are going to tell me all about it.

AbsDuCroissant · 20/05/2011 12:36

There are limits. And passing around a human being so that you can satisfy your sexual desires, for selling arsing insurance is one of them. Likewise, it would be unacceptable if say, they went on a jolly to shoot at street children.

It's called having "standards". You obviously don't have any

titchy · 20/05/2011 12:36

It'll have been a typo originally. Some busy exec emailing his PA asking her to sort out the bonus. Except he typed 'bone us' by mistake but didn't want to lose face by admitting his typo.

Shock though (Actually there would have been quite a few Shock at the party I imagine Grin

Sorry. I'll get my coat.
