True, Habbibu. But MN is equally full of people who are entitled to vote, and whose decisions are based on all kinds of other misinformation (gleaned from the Guardian, for example). But the DM seems to attract particular interest in a way that what I would consider to be loony lefty liberal papers don't.

Habbibu · 14/02/2011 23:51

I don't know - I think the DM is particularly hysterical, compared to other papers of all political colours and leanings, and has a curiously anti-woman stance I find hard to stomach.

Starbear · 15/02/2011 09:43

Hildegard I used to read the DM at 14 years old. I then noticed that it thought it's readers were so stupid that it would repeat articles word for word a few months later. I stopped reading as I thought the paper was very immature!(at 14!) Then I had the expereince of DM joining my Hendon College intake and follow a few girls in training for a few weeks. The journos tried to make us do things for a good photo shoot that we wouldn't normally do. Then they lied and twisted what people had said so...... I don't think the paper is the best place to get your News.
On the other hand I do agree with a lot of points in this article and might block MN as I'm on this thing for far to long instead of doing more rewarding stuff Grin Right off I go to work out online banking and get a shed delivered!

Starbear, all I can say is that the journalistic practices that you describe are by no means confined to the DM. Sadly.

Starbear · 15/02/2011 13:33

Hildegard Maybe but that's not my only RL experience with DM. DM reporter at a BLACK Police AGM asking to speak to a member at the meeting ..then..(as a joke) said if I could find someone blonde and good looking! Good looking I don't mind but blonde?

Starbear · 15/02/2011 13:34

Ops! I'm neglecting my housework Blush

HildegardVonBlingen · 15/02/2011 14:40

Me too. Grin

I am a journo, and I can assure you that this sort of thing is common practice. Never believe anything you read in the papers!

Starbear · 15/02/2011 16:08

Do you also phone tap te he!Hmm

MrsSparkle · 15/02/2011 18:25

I think it's a bit different leaving your children to go to work or to do housework, those are essencial everyday things. Going on mn/fb etc is not essencial and when you get to a stage where your constantly distracted by the computer and telling your dc "in a minute" all the time, then something has to change.

People can be so pathetic and childish on mn at times.

MrsSparkle · 15/02/2011 18:26

essential
