..or do I feel a bit Hmm about the girl who has broken her back in Corfu and is asking for public donations to get home for treatment because she didn't have holiday insurance? Surely, nowdays, insurance is an absolute essential for travelling? I expect I'm being horrible but I really think it's a bt much...

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 19/08/2010 23:02

yes, mama, and also Lloyds TSB Smile

tethersend · 19/08/2010 23:02

Apparently it's not a game of two halves after all Sad

No need, AF. No need. I'm fragile enough as it is. Incandescent with rage.

scurryfunge · 19/08/2010 23:03

My LLoyds TSB Platinum account repairs spinal injury every time I use a cashpoint.....it's a miracle.

tethersend · 19/08/2010 23:04

I demand equality for the much-maligned second half of a word.

MN are you listening?

ARE YOU????

mamatomany · 19/08/2010 23:05

Perhaps she'll be used in the Halifax's next marketing campaign, complete with wedding dress (after she's made a full recovery of course)

whomovedmychocolate · 19/08/2010 23:06

Perhaps it's to avoid having to watch us lose the footy booyhoo Wink

PrincessFiorimonde · 19/08/2010 23:06

I thought she was in Greece (OP says Corfu), not Spain?

(I realise this doesn't make much difference to the discussion; just trying to get facts straight.)

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 23:06

i wonder how far they allow it to go. if a word has five letters will they allow the first 3 to be bolded?

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 23:07

whomoved i am completely lost on teh meaning of your post, sorry. can you explain?

AnyFucker · 19/08/2010 23:07

PF...don't muddy the waters Grin

'tis semantics, innit Wink

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 23:08

oh yes i get it now. second half of the match?

tethersend · 19/08/2010 23:09

Ooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh let's find out...

seeker · 19/08/2010 23:12

To answer your original question - yes you are being nasty.

She should have got insurance. She shoudn't have got pissed and fallen off her balcony. But she didn't and she did.

How do you suggest she gets home - on a space hopper?

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 23:12

how many letters though, my eyesight is too bad to count all those?

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 23:13

she should get home on a plane paid for by from her own or her family's pocket.

JaneS · 19/08/2010 23:13

Oh.

I would never have known I needed travel insurance. I didn't know it was standard - I thought it was something rich people got for when your hotel kicks you out. I feel really stupid now.

seeker · 19/08/2010 23:14

booyhoo - you are very lucky if your family could come up with £16000, mine certainly couldn't.

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 23:19

mine would make a bloody good bash at it before asking teh public to pay for my stupidity. bank loans, credit cards, remortgaging, selling a car. i would do all of that before i would ask the public to pay for my child to be flown home from a perfectly good hospital.

whomovedmychocolate · 19/08/2010 23:19

She fell of the balcony while drunk? Shock

AnyFucker · 19/08/2010 23:20

lrd, I never knew people could be so naive

JaneS · 19/08/2010 23:25

I know! Sad

I've not been on holiday for years - not since my parents took me, when I was a teenager. I guess I just never thought about it - hopefully I would have done before actually traveling, but maybe not.

JaneS · 19/08/2010 23:25

I thought that card you get for medical attention in the EU covered it ... how wrong was I?!

AnyFucker · 19/08/2010 23:27

yes, you were wrong

thank God you came across this thread

Smile
TrillianAstra · 19/08/2010 23:28

The little card does cover emergency medical attention LRD - and the girl int he story is being treated, but it doesn't cover your flights home if you can't make your booked flight, it doesn't cover your family staying in a hotel to stay in the country with you, etc.

JaneS · 19/08/2010 23:32

Well, I wouldn't have been stupid enough to travel without checking it out - but I am sad to realize that it all will cost more than I thought. I was hoping DH and I would be able to afford a holiday at some point, but obviously best not.

Poor lass - must be scary for her being hurt so far away from home, even if it is her own fault.
