Mums thrown out of 'family friendly' pub

Story today from Southampton about a group of mothers who were asked to leave an apparently 'family-friendly' pub because the landlord thought their infants were too noisy. We've been asked on by BBC Three Counties radio to comment - what do you think? Sounds a bit strange, doesn't it?

Just to clear up the badger point- the correct phrase is "rough as a badger's arse". If you've ever stroked a badger (dead or alive), you'll know that it's quite fitting description. They have very rough coats.

I imagine a hedgehog would be rougher

I cannot believe how personal and rude you ladies all get! some of you need to put your claws away and get a life!! Angry

if the pub advertises itself as family friendly then what's the problem in taking babies in?

what has what they look like got to do with anything.

the media as usual will have only reported on snippets of the information (and no I
am not one of the mothers involved) and don't have the space to write the full dialogue.

Call me naive, but when I first read Mrs Reality's post, I thought she meant it tounge and cheek. And then I saw all the posts and felt really stupid.

The Cowherds has been a massively unfriendly pub for as long as I have known it (though to be fair I haven't lived in Soton for 6 years now!).

They have big issues with folk coming in off the Common to use their loos - refused a friend of mine and her son when they'd eaten a meal there, walked out of the door and the little boy needed the loo, they headed straight back inside and were kicked out as the loos were for 'customers only'. FFS, they'd just spent £££ on a meal and had only been outside the building for 30 seconds!!!

They have never, ever been 'child friendly', no matter what their literature says.

We went to cornwall when children were little. We had 2 toddlers and baby with us;the baby was asleep in double buggy.Told in restaurant we would have to fold buggy, even though there was room through for staff. my baby was asleep in buggy, which meant folding it would have resulted in her screaming restaurant down from having been woken ,and then me not being able to eat from having to comfort baby.I have never confronted this kind of prejudice and unhelpfullness in wales ,where i live, and made me appreciate where i came from.I love cornwall, just a shame about the child unfriendlyness.

?We informed him that due to his incredibly poor customer service and complete disrespect to us as people ? let alone mothers, we would only be staying for a drink,?

Let alone mothers made me laugh for some reason. Do you think they are all PFBs?
