Afternoon all

Bank holiday has been wet and cold here in NE.

But we went to my niece 5th Birthday party yesterday and had a ball.

Today has been spent baking and gardening

Guess what - tomorrow we are off to Emma Bridgewater for a factory tour and lunch, paid for thanks to the blog

MickyLee · 31/05/2010 17:27

Oh I forget it was school holidays this week in the UK.. I wondered where everyone was on here. Hope you all have a nice time and the weather gets better esp for you tea

Had a fantastic day on the beach today . I even took my fleece off (dh didn't lol). DD and I have a plan to get dh in swimming trunks and into the sea by the end of the week .

May do some housework tomorrow .

OFM messy house is getting me down too...on the other hand don't want to ruin halfterm clean clean cleaning/scream scream screaming

so will revert to babysteps as of this moment, and try not to stress about rest
beds - get kids to do
s & s - kids?
put away clean washing up in kitchen - ds1?
make stew for supper - ds2 helping?
rubbish out - ds1?
I hour?

bbl

then a bit of gardening
get kids out for a breather ? Library run?
swimmng later, lunch sorted
dh at work this week
music practice x 3

OFM bet you remember more than you think! Anyway presumably you know far more than most newly qualified pyschs, despite them having latest research up their sleeve.
project a little bit
garden sweep sweep sweep 30 mins

scattyspice · 01/06/2010 13:30

Morning all (or aft LOL). Raining today!

Dh has taken kids to the pictures.
I have been to shops , booked dd onto swim lessons (figers crossed she doesn't wimp out)and rebooted laundry. Need to tackle floors now.

micky I would strangle my kids if I had to entertain them until midnight .

OFM good luck with the revision. (bad luck about the car ).

OverflowingMum · 01/06/2010 14:36

ML your lists are always an inspiration!

swan...sigh...yes,indeed!babystpes! scatty shopping without dc sounds good

Car booked into gagage for tomorrow ... fingers crossed.

Hitanother stumbling block....need a particular textbook...located in Health Sciences library atChildren's Hospital...yay...rang up,but library shut for "cleaning and decontamination" and not open again till July
Heaven only knows what they're decontaminating

so...back to drawing board....said book is over £100 to buy...so that wontbe happening LOL

anyway..been to cinema...nice time had by all,dd3 had total meltdown on way homethough because I forgot to buy herpens..

all now fairly peaceful....should be revising...can't be bothered....

BBL

OverflowingMum · 01/06/2010 14:37

gosh....not sure what happened with my *'s there LOL sorry

MickyLee · 01/06/2010 17:29

OFM very expensive text book!!! Could you buy second hand? At least you all enjoyed the cinema.

Children here don't have routines at all.. they sleep when and where ever, Whole families of 4 on a scooter including mum holding baby, Cover babies faces with blankets when they sleep, feed them the most rubbish food.. i.e bread dipped in black sugared turkish tea for a 6 month old!!! Parenting here is crap. They do eat quite a lot of fruit though
On the upside of it though DH think i am the best mum in the world from only seeing his sisters parenting skills

Got through my list except reading books to DC and bathing them but thats ok on occassion.

Hope you are all well BBL

OP posts:
swanriver · 01/06/2010 17:42

"decontamination"does indeed sound scarey

well I can think Ican beat dd3's score OFM dd had no less than three horrifying tantrums today, which reduced me to tears. Then dss had further tantrum when I tried to switch off some quiz show (on the i-player so they could have watched it any time the varmits) I drove to swimming feeling like I had been beaten over the head with a baseball bat, but by this time dd was murmuring affectionate sweet nothings to me and is now in excellent form after swimming lesson.

I don't know...feel a real failure at halfterm why can't we be good at getting on???? Tried to have a very low key day, but doesn't seem to make any difference to latent aggressions and emotions...violent squabble outbreaks. Like dancing on a volcano really [ouch]

Anyway on good note, have managed a bit of decluttering, got all three dcs to do some housework without complaint (despite later breakdowns)
swimming lessons great success
bedrooms are nice and tidy,
everywhere not too bad really
supper prepared
food in fridge for week

OFM cinema sounds lovely, I think just need to treat my home as a honorary cinema, and all would be well!

swanriver · 01/06/2010 17:45

ML ah but I bet you Turkish kids don't cry much or have hellish tantrums...the tannin makes all the difference [rushes off to feed dd large cup of refreshing tea]

MickyLee · 01/06/2010 19:20

swan haha maybe you are right. Except the fact that Turkey has the highest death rate for under 5's in Europe. Although shamefully England came third
As for you feeling like a failure.. a tidy house and food in for the week? I don't think so!

Well tomorrow DD in nursery so DS and I are going for a play date at my friends who has a DC similar age.. means we can have a coffee and a good chat while we leave them to it really

So tomorrow-

Load WH
cook breakfast
Clean up from breakfast
shower and dress
DC washed and dressed
Hang out washing
Get cushions out of storage to give to DF
Leave to take DD to school and go to DF's
Walk back and do some shopping on way home
Bring in washing
Daily mission
Tidy up
Cook dinner
Clean floor of balcony
Collect DD from school
Clean up from dinner
Bath DC
books to DC
Ironing

I love being part of this thread.. my house has never been so flyladyish x

OP posts:
scattyspice · 01/06/2010 19:23

swan poor you, have a glass of wine. I am having it easy as dh is off so we are operating in shifts.

OFM I wish I could close my house down for 'cleaning and decontamination' (put the kids into kennels for a while lol).

micky wow I think even I'd feel like a good parent in Turkey!

Floors 1/2 done, I am getting lazy, definately true that work expands to fill the time available to do it (or something). Have been lolling about on the sofa with dd .

dylsmum1998 · 01/06/2010 19:30

OFM hope the car not too much money to fix. Text books are ridiculouly priced aren't they

Swan you are def not a failure, half terms are very trying.

Micky this thread def helps with motivation doesnt it

today i have;
tidied
hoovered
10 mins of sewing dress
dinner
washed up
put up bathroom cabinet more drilling

we went bowling, bumped into SIL and youngest nephew on way so they came too. Was a good time apart from dd's tantrums when i wouldn't let her run far ahead in town

She is happy again now, in bed chatting to her teddies

I am about to do some work on my patchwork quilt, thank you for your kind words. Have never made one before so nice to have positive feedback.

MickyLee · 01/06/2010 19:48

dlsm putting up bathroom cabinet.. very impressed!

Nuttybear · 01/06/2010 22:58
