elliepac · 31/05/2010 08:01

Welcome to the June edition of the Fledgling Flyers where we are going to attempt to restore order in our houses, chatting as we go.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

For those who are curious, these are the Babysteps, which we all hope will restore order in our homes and make our lives a little bit easier with lots of support (and chat, and wine, and a little more chat )

So please come and join us, old and new, from June 1st.

LinzerTorte · 31/05/2010 08:23

You beat me to it Nettie.

I have lots of good intentions for June (which I seem to say every month...) and really want to get some decluttering done this month. But I also think I need to go back to the babysteps, which I was unwisely ignoring in May...

Stillcounting · 31/05/2010 08:54

Thank you for new thread Ellie - great title!!

Just parking my bucket and mop in preparation for tomorrow ...

elliepac · 31/05/2010 09:27

This month I WILL do babysteps properly, I WILL do babysteps properly, I WILL do babysteps properly, I WILL do babysteps properly...

LinzerTorte · 31/05/2010 10:57

elliepac · 31/05/2010 11:20

NickOfTime · 31/05/2010 17:07

babysteps for meeeeeeeee (with decluttering when i'm feeling keen/ the closer it gets to mil arriving)

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 31/05/2010 17:20

June means 11 days till due date!

I will be focusing on keeping on with my routines as much as possible this month - probably as a list for my 'willing' helpers too

I also want to declutter my bedroom a bit more (might start that tonight as DS went off early as H and I took him for a bank holiday outing all together, which was nice) and try to get the spare room in a bit more order, so I can try to keep them that way despite the baby chaos. I don't want to be miserable because I'm living in a tip!

NickOfTime · 31/05/2010 17:43

chairmum, promise me you'll put 'give birth' on your 'to do' list? it would make me smile all day!

optimisticmumma · 31/05/2010 20:08

Evening all! Am getting used to this iPhone lark! Linzer don't be jealous just picture old bird with specs perched on end of nose tapping slowly on small screen with teenage dd wincing in the corner and youll see how cool I am.
I am currently looking out to sea clutching a glass of red with mammamia blasting in my ear having waved a cheery goodbye to 4 teenage girls who joined us for the weekend! How noble am I ?
See you all tomorrow! Am determined to keep up with the thread!

elliepac · 31/05/2010 20:13

Hello everyone and welcome to June .

Today's babystep is the infamous sink shining!. A shiny sink leads to a shiny mind...trust me, I'm a teacher .

The mission today is here.

No matter where you ended up at the end of the month (apart from those of you who are joining us ), now is the opportunity to start afresh and continue getting those steps really ingrained.

Let's have a fabulous June!

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 31/05/2010 21:03

I will try to make it past day 15, i will try to not fall of the flying wagon, i will try to not get lost in the chaos.

I would like to find the bath tub, my bedroom floor (it allegedly has one) and actually start to make progress forwards rather then round and round in a circle. I am getting dizzy.

baby steps again for me then.

I must try not to be a perfectionist or do everything at once and settle for progress rather then finished.

PositiveAttitude · 31/05/2010 21:50

Just flying by to mark my spot!!

I will be stroking a new Ernest on Wednesday, so hopefully should be able to get back to regular posting.

Found out today that new bedroom furniture for DSs room is being delivered next Wednesday . Sympathy needed from those with teenage lads. I am going to have to do a mammoth clear out in there!! Half term, so I have given him tasks for each day to get the room sorted. Dreading under the bed!! Not sure if I will find things alive that should be dead, or dead that should be alive . Which should I dread the most?
I sorted his drawers today. He has suddenly grown at least two inches. Nothing fits anymore. He has gone from being a scrawny lad in 12 year old clothes, to a towering 14 year old in adult clothes. He literally has 1 pair of jeans, 3 pairs shorts, 4 t-shirts and a smart outfit for the wedding. I must go shopping with him this week, or the new wardrobe that is arriving will be an empty waste of money!!!

Right, off for now, see you all tomorrow.

Thanks to our esteemed leader for doing such a fantastic job.

elliepac · 31/05/2010 23:03

Why thank you pa, I don't think I have ever been called esteemed before . Been called many other things though .

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 01/06/2010 07:57

Morning all,

Linzer- you're off to a flying start there! (pun intended!)

Today I have to:

  • reboot washing (in the drier, rainy here and I'm down to one comfy pair of trousers!) done
  • Put recycling out / empty bins
  • load dishwasher
  • pack DS's nappy bag
  • Off to meet friend's new baby
  • DS to nursery
  • cook shepherds' pie for dinner
  • phone someone to look at broken oven
  • clear dining table hotspot (that's the mission too)
  • DS from nursery
  • rest!

Mostly small jobs / things that have to be done but I clearly like to make myself seem busy

LinzerTorte · 01/06/2010 08:22

Morning everyone,

You all have such impressive lists - shouldn't you be taking it easy, Chairmum? And I'm particularly impressed by anyone who can fly and go the gym, Nettie.

To do today:
Work
Shine sink
15 min decluttering
Send electoral reg. forms (DH has just e-mailed me the scanned versions)
Ballet run

PA / Nettie Lack of clothes for DS isn't a problem here; he (and the DDs) have boxes and boxes of clothes that have been handed down to us. Which is great, so I feel very ungrateful about mentioning that it does add to the general clutter/lack of space in their wardrobes...

elliepac · 01/06/2010 08:57

Morning all,

Lots of positivity on here this morning . DC's are packed off to the CM's for the day, time to get cracking on the upstairs of this hovel.

So far I have:-

Washing on line
WM on
DW unloaded/loaded
downstairs maintenance tidy/floor sweep.
Shined sink

This is my one day to get everything done so am posting a v. ambitious list particularly when DH said to me before he went to work this morning,'you've got the first day to yourself in weeks and you are going to clean?'. Hmmmm he may have a point but I am going to seize the day and get on with it. Here goes:-

Clean/15 min declutter in bathroom
DD's bedroom:- clear out draws/14 min declutter/clean/change bed
DS's bedroom:- find floor/dejunk/clean
Our bedroom:- find floor/dejunk/clean
All clothes away in wardrobes when find them
All washing sorted
Skip trip

I absolutely have to do this, our bedroom in particular. Soon I am going be marking GCSE exam papers and I need to clear a corner of our bedroom for the purpose as it is the only place which I can retreat to in peace .

Will see how I go!

Have a wonderful day everyone .

Morning all! I am definitely going to try and do better this month.

Today I have put a wash on, done dw, hung out wash from last night, tidied kitchen.

About to: get all of us dressed ( but it is half term!)
Take Dc's to tennis and hope the rain holds off long enough for them to do it.

Back later. Have a good day everyone and Ellie thanks for doing this, I know I'm a bit erratic but I really do love this thread!
