June's Fledgling Flyers:"two flyers are "blooming marvellously" : here come the rest doing their flaming best"

elliepac · 31/05/2010 08:01

Welcome to the June edition of the Fledgling Flyers where we are going to attempt to restore order in our houses, chatting as we go.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

For those who are curious, these are the Babysteps, which we all hope will restore order in our homes and make our lives a little bit easier with lots of support (and chat, and wine, and a little more chat )

So please come and join us, old and new, from June 1st.

ellie It would be even more fab if I actually did some cleaning rather than just writing about it.
I wasn't being too serious about the round-ups but yours are often just hilarious and I know that mine aren't.

DD2 will be very excited about the postcard. We'll be able to send postcards from Italy in a couple of weeks.

Still to do:
Afternoon routine
Put washing away
15 min decluttering in living room
Mission
Send booking confirmation to hotel

I'm hoping that if I repost my list often enough, it might force me to do some of the things on it.

Nettiespagetti · 29/06/2010 13:30

ellie linzer does that mean you don't fancy this one posted below cos I'll have to get back to drawing board

July will be busy, dcs will make us dizzy and we will try not to get into a tizzy!!

Just gonna pop dd in bed then will be back for afternoon posting

LinzerTorte · 29/06/2010 13:44

No, I like it Nettie - it's just you said it was a work in progress so I was waiting to see whether you came up with anything else.

Off to summer party now - DD2's last ever!

Stillcounting · 29/06/2010 14:27

Hello all - thanks for the kind words - good to know I am not the only one suffering from end-of-term-itis. Good luck with it everyone.

Had to laugh today because dd's (old-fashioned RC school) have got them scrubbing the classroom ....nothing like an early initiation in to Flying routines ...!!

Fortunately dd's still at the age where she thinks it's great fun ...and after that they are going to listen to their teacher playing the accordion and see a marionette show ... so it's not all child-labour...

Crikey. You lot are so busy you put me to shame.

MrsDinky you look very much on top of things.

So do you Swan and thanks for reminding us of all the good things about the holidays ...

And your lego triage sounds very impressive DEM! Ellie so sorry to hear you had such a crash back down to reality after your lovely w/e away . Hope your ds feels better soon (and your dh's tooth of course).

'Tis great you are carrying on as team leader next month -

And "hear, hear" to your following words of wisdom,

"If the last few days(and crapheap of a house) has taught me anything is that I need to keep up my routines even over this busy period or I will rapidly descend into chaos and spend the first two weeks of my holiday rectifying it."

I feel TOTALLY the same!!

Oh no Feetheart - that really was an awful day. Hope you and ds are feeling better. Now you have experienced such a horrible hatrick of events hopefully you will be jinx-free for months and months to come ...!

ToffeeFudge you & your dh sound like a very stalwart couple!! Congrats on your impressive evening routine.

Linzer enjoy the kindergarten party

Nettie busy, tizzy and dizzy sums up my current state of mind!! Well done on your long lists.

Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight MisSB Nickoftime I am with you in your mission to restore order!! Good luck with it and the mil visit. And congrats on Canadian papers!!!

Waves to Chairmum PushmePullyou Optimistic and everyone else ...

Right, too embarrassed to post list because although I've been working pretty much flat out, it's still almost the same as yesterday!!!

Nettiespagetti · 29/06/2010 15:15

Nettiespagetti · 29/06/2010 15:29

Julys fledging flyers : The dcs drive us round the bend, the school holidays desend, our sanity we will lend, and flying will be our friend

think I'm trying too hard

elliepac · 29/06/2010 15:45

oooooh nettie, am loving that .

Mid-afternoon coffee break, another 15 papers marked now to the laborious task of uploading them!

DH came home in his lunch break and is clearly in a lot of pain. Why is it that I think he is being a bit of a drama queen and while sympathetic noises are made, in my head I think he should grow a set of balls and deal with it .

Over to the laborious task...

OP posts:
NickOfTime · 29/06/2010 17:28

can i get an early deal on that sanity lending?

today is the last day of term - ta daaaaaa! one final last hurtle through the insanity!

so:

dw - unloaded but not loaded
wm -
end of term assemblies x 2 - done!
teacher's gifts wrapped - done < but am about to leap into car to collect flowers - all you teachers take note - it's still an hour and a half round trip >
book accom for mountain break with mil - done
book swim lessons
photos for summer camp forms
drop flowers at school
room rescue on living room
work cocktail party

ok, i'm stopping there, because it's too depressing!

i don't do sympathy either... i recall the time when i spent 24 hours vomiting in a hotel room and dh made me get out of bed and go to a wedding, then the next day he came down with it and retired to bed for three days. that said, when he got blown up and had brain surgery, i told him in the hospital he couldn't come home until he could drink out of a proper cup, as i didn't intend to fanny around with making tea in a macdonalds beaker with a straw. full of heart, me. (he made the transition to mug fairly quickly though...)

and don't start me on the old vasectomy v c section/vbac disaster discussion...

Nettiespagetti · 29/06/2010 18:13

nick happy to lend you my sanity I have tons of it.... Now if I could only find it in all this clutter....

DidEinsteinsMum · 29/06/2010 19:07

Afraid all out. My sanity seems to have vamoosed about when I decided to sort the lego. Right now taking bets on when the white coat arrive, but with my luck they with be greyish white with black, pink, yellow and red paint on with added teabag paint stains and covered in mud...

Guess what ds was doing at school today

elliepac · 29/06/2010 21:20

Oh buggery soddery buggery doo. I just spent 45 mins doing the round-up, pressed post the the chuffing internet broke. You will have to take my word for it that it was wildly witty. As much as I love you ladies, I am not going to spend another 45 mins doing another one so i am going to reach into my somewhat shaky memory and do a speed round-up, bit like speed dating except you like the people you will see .

dem fought the lego and the lego won. Men in white coats coming to take her away, I suugest she asks them for tips on how to keep your whites white because it sounds as if DS has been busy keeping his whites anything other than white .

nettie gave out her sanity to one and all, she'll regret that, mark my words . And she is going to do me for plagiarism as I nick her thread title for the third month in a row

linzer had a man in to see to her boiler (oo-er missus) and a kindergarten party. Kindergarten is such a lovely word, don't know why, just like it .

sc's DD cleaned her school. I had visions of 5ft1 me telling 6ft year 10's to clean my room...in my vision the air was a little blue . She claimed I uttered words of wisdom when in fact I was admitting my crapness but i'll take words of wisdom .

nick is being a grown up and going to a cocktail party (I thought all parties post DC's involved pass the parcel and sausage rolls...i am a classy chick me ). She travelled miles to get a teacher a present, quite right too .

toffeefudge regaled us with tales of married life and various injuries from which we deduced that she is hard as nails and her DH a wimp (apart from the pneumonia one, we'll have to let him for that...I suppose)

elliepac ranted on here, marked, soothed DH while ranting in her head, marked, ranted to DH and then ranted at the computer. She is thinking of booking herself into anger management .

Special mention to feetheart who had the crappiest of crapola days yesterday. Hope DS is ok today and you have recovered.

Big mahoosive waves to everyone else..i'm going to drink wine, feel free to help yourself but it won't be there long i tell you .

Back in a mo with steps!

Today's babystep is Pride. Be proud of yourselves ladies, another fabulous month full of flying, chat, support and giggles. Well Done!

The mission today is here. Ona slightly related note, i just read today's mission where the fat fairy tells us that her favourite thing to do is go down the back of her sofa...me thinks she needs to get a life!

Have a good day everyone!

DidEinsteinsMum · 29/06/2010 21:50

truely fabulous round up as always.

DidEinsteinsMum · 29/06/2010 21:57

Has light bulb moment - maybe that is where some of the missing lego pieces are hiding

feetheart · 29/06/2010 22:18

Quick one as really need to sleep.

Thanks for special mention ellie and sympathy from lots of others. Today was indeed better although we still spent 4 1/2 hrs in fracture clinic
DS was a complete star and very entertaining throughout the entire time. Both the consultant and the plaster technician were full of praise for him and rightly so.
He has a broken wrist and is sporting a natty cast.
Hopefully he will sleep well and be back to pre-school tomorrow to show off said cast as I have masses of work to catch up on.

DH currently watering garden, I need to sort out kitchen then bed.

Night all

Nettiespagetti · 29/06/2010 22:43

feetheart aw lil ds hope he gets lotsa attention at preschool with his cast.
ellie fab round up as usual! (thread title police are on their way )
nick well done dd1 that's brill sounds very exciting

This afternoons list

put ironing away-done
clean sofas-nope
hang out washing- tumbled instead
make fishcakes for tea-done
remove old metal frame bed from loft-done
dc to bath and bed-dine

Pray dh makes bed before I return from gym - did it together! Dh grumbled that had changed bedclothes when we only put then on a week and a half ago

so better try clean sofas tomorrow!

Have lovely night nite nite

feetheart · 30/06/2010 06:58

Stillcounting · 30/06/2010 09:06

Hi all

Just a quickie as school holidays start today at noon and have a shed-load to do before then. A very tired dd packed off to school this morning with teachers' offerings and a home-made card extracted under extreme duress last night. It all ended in tears with me saying "if you colour in one wing of the ruddy butterfly, Mummy will do the rest ...."

Anyway, just one more ballet run this afternoon (certificate day) and then we are freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

On a more sombre note, house a total crap-heap (to use Ellie vernacular), I can't fit in to any of my summer clothes, the laundry and ironing piles have run away with me again, I can't find anything (including my carte d'identite and my passport) and I feel utterly disorganised with regard to weeks and visitors ahead ...

So I'm trying to get back to first Flylady principles here ....

Hope your ds is OK today Feetheart - brave lad - and you get through your list
Brill round-up Ellie
Hope cocktail party went well Nick
Good luck with your list today too Nettie
Did you find it DEM?

Waves to everyone else.

When is PA due back?

elliepac · 30/06/2010 09:22

Morning all. JUst quickly popping on at work to create our shiny new thread. Back tonight .

July's shiny new thread!.

Have a good day!

OP posts:
LinzerTorte · 30/06/2010 09:48

Morning everyone,

Just popping on while I have a coffee break - I am still in the middle of my morning routine, would you believe. Surely the morning routine isn't actually supposed to take all morning? I must admit that I do keep getting sidetracked, however.

Thanks for the new thread ellie (have just been on there) and another brilliant title Nettie.

feetheart Hope you survive your hectic day.

SC Glad to hear I'm not the only one feeling disorganised. I'm looking forward to school breaking up in a lot of ways, but I know I'll be able to get even less done as from next week (and am starting to panic about how I'm going to manage to fit in work).

Nettie Postcard is written (DS decided he would "write" his name all over it, but you probably won't be able to decipher it!) and will be on its way this afternoon.

School is gradually winding down here; DD1 is out at 11.30 today, 10.30 tomorrow and 8.15 on Friday. Kindergarten stays open for another three weeks however, so it will be nice to have DD1 on her own next week.

The Kindergarten party yesterday was lovely - DD2 looked v. grown up (she was one of two children from each group chosen to dance while the others sang), but it's still hard to believe she'll be off to school in September. Now I just need to start planning her birthday party on Friday; I'll be able to breathe a huge sigh of relief once it's all over!

DidEinsteinsMum · 30/06/2010 10:28

no and i have nearly a kits worth of unhomed pieces so am going to have to go back through every kit. However I have taken desperate measures and hidden the boxes fo that other more urgent activities can get done. I have a big project that needs some major work and that needs focusing on. so am off to do that.

Have a lovely day.

Stillcounting · 30/06/2010 10:33

Don't worry - we'll can panic on here together Linzer!! And remember the 15-min mantra!!

Yes, sounds like a job for the long winter evenings DEM - good luck with your project.

Well, the morning flashed by. Off now to do vthe school run. See you on the new thread tomorrow everyone.

And mahoosive thanks to Ellie for steering us through flaming June. (Not that I stayed strictly on the right path but, thankfully July is another month with 31 more baby steps ....)

DidEinsteinsMum · 30/06/2010 10:51

Will post a picky when done... well when i get round to the picky posting bit of the to do list
