June's Fledgling Flyers:"two flyers are "blooming marvellously" : here come the rest doing their flaming best"

elliepac · 31/05/2010 08:01

Welcome to the June edition of the Fledgling Flyers where we are going to attempt to restore order in our houses, chatting as we go.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

For those who are curious, these are the Babysteps, which we all hope will restore order in our homes and make our lives a little bit easier with lots of support (and chat, and wine, and a little more chat )

So please come and join us, old and new, from June 1st.

Afternoon ladies

Looks as if everyone is out enjoying the lovely sunshine .

Chairmum hope you haven't wilted yet. Take care of yourself. I rather like the look of the ipad, too, and I am normally the least gadgety person around.

DWM - I could stop stroking ernest and come and stroke daisy, poor little thing. Hope she is settling again ok. Its a bit of a pain having to keep all the windows and doors closed to keep her in, isnt it?

SC - hope your girded loins are now ungirded!! And that GP (which I always think is grandparents, so made me read twice when I imagined an elderly relative eating a dandelion under a rock!!) is glad to be home!

feetheart - Sorry I missed your anniversary. Hope you had a ggod evening.

Gormers - How exciting, a new home. And a sparkly one too. Hope the move goes well this weekend.

Nick - Were your cubs looked after yesterday, or did you just go for the swooning?

MM - Hope the baby behaved last evening, giving you some time to chill out away from your home.

Mucky - Like the top. Have a good time away.

Nettie - Do you do accounts as well?Thats my line of work, too. Nobody understands the joyous feeling of the £0.00 at the bottom of a bank reconcilliation, after spending hours wiggling numbers around to find the elusive amount.

linzer - enjoy your trip.

Phew, loads of us now, and all so busy. Waves to MissB and MrsD and anyone else either i've missed or lurking!!

RIght, a lovely few days here. Today I have been to work and then took DS to buy some school shoes. A warning to everyone with a son yet to hit the teenage years, be prepared for them to grow about 4 inches up, 4 inches round and 3 whole shoe sizes within just a few months. He is costing me a fortune at the moment. I went and bought loads of shorts and tshirts yesterday, too!!
DD3 has a friend here, which is lovely because she has lost contact with a lot of her friends during the last 2 years, since she has been ill. SHe is enjoying being a "normal" teenager today, which makes me happy to see.
DD4 has a friend round too. Her friend is quite severely disabled and it brings the best out in DD3 & Dd4 to look care for her. DS has just baked a cake for the girls for tea. So all very positive in the positive household.

DH had another interview yesterday. I have just been really naughty and peeked at his email inbox and he has one from them and also another from anohter application named "request for interview". I now really want ot open the emails and read them. I cant wait til 7, when he may decide to click on here!! Would it be really terrible to have a look? The only thing is that if you mark an email "keep as new" it goes a differnet colour, but I dont think he'd notice. But that's really wrong isn't it. Perhaps I should sit on my hands for the next 3 hours!! Or I could go and make myself busy.
Oh I wish I hadn't even noticed he had the emails in the first place, this is killing me!! I am the most impatient person EVER and want ot know NOW!!!!

Right, plan A ... Go and roll out pastry for steak pie for tea.
Peel potatoes
Put washing away
Put a load in
Sweep floor

Nettiespagetti · 04/06/2010 19:48

pasounds like a lovely friendly busy day. Yes I do nothing better than a clean 0.00 at the bottom. I've been doing it every week much easier to trace anomalies
ellie yes I was going to weed in the garden I think it would probably be wee'd

Just wondering how I got on
get ds to pick up snap cards all over house-done I tidied up sticker issued and loads praise dd helped too.
play in garden-done
weed in garden-nope played instead [proud of me emotion]
more washing - peg out got pegs first hang out since 4yrs- done but just brought them all back in and they are still wet!! what's point?
dejunk old book selling file-not yet hoping to do whilst watching tv

I might try put away clothes and tidy my room but I won't promise!

Hope you all have lovely nights and a great sunny day tomorrow

MiniMarmite · 04/06/2010 22:17

Hi Ladies

I hope you all had fun in the sun today, am slightly of Ellie's beach visit .

Baby was very well behaved thanks PA and Thurs is my favourite tv night so I ate biscuits and vegged in front of the tv!

I've had a lovely day in the sunshine with DS but also feeling quite pleased with myself for:

  • making a yummy dinner (even if I do say so myself)
  • 2 loads of washing, one dry and folded
  • folding of more of mount washmore
  • vacuuming
  • washing cat food area of kitchen floor!
  • filing all of my outstanding paperwork (not necessarily to perfection but it is at least in the right place in the right file now)
  • remembering to water the plants
  • buying DS shorts and t-shirts and sunhats and new shoes (how do they grow so fast?!)
  • cleaning kitchen
  • swish and swiping

off to shine my sink (and halo) now and then off to bed!

How is Daisy DWM?

Waves too all - have a fab weekend x

NickOfTime · 05/06/2010 00:15

late today - thought i'd better go to work!

dw - done
wm - done
work - done!
cub camp paperwork - done!
10 item spare room declutter - not yet
bathroom clean - done (last night but still feeling virtuous lol)

tax meeting postponed until wednesday because the accountant cracked her windscreen this morning , so i'm still on the run, i guess

tomorrow we've got a busy day but finishing it off with some local culture/ flavour as we've been invited to one of the local ranches to help brand this year's calves (anybody squeamish, look away now) - this means chopping off their testicles (prairie oysters), scoring out their horns, branding and vaccinating... and then a big ol' bbq. so tomorrow won't be firemen, it'll be cowboys... wanna come?

but first, dd1 has a guide wildlife trip, and ds1 has a hypnotherapy appointment.

no rest for the wicked!

my big plan for the weekend is to declutter more of the spare room, now i've made a bit of a start, though.

(pa - i'd look, too but i don't want to think about growth spurts... steak pie yes, growth spurts no...)
mm - you are a flying goddess

PositiveAttitude · 05/06/2010 07:43

Good morning ladies,

Nick please tell me that you dont BBQ the testicles. At 7.15 on a Saturday morning thats a bit too much for my stomach to contemplate. Urgh!!

MM - Babysitting evening sounds lovely. And you should feel proud of yourself, too, for all you did yesterday.

Todays plan:
Washing - ad infinitum
Hanging on line - ad infinitum
May tackle ironing pile, but not very hopeful
Clear kitchen surfaces
Go into town to banks, supermarket, post office. Take back blouse.
Curry in slow cooker for tonight.
lunch
BEACH!!! For as long as possible
Back for curry/wine/feet up.

elliepac · 05/06/2010 07:44

Morning all, (evening? to nick),

A very quiet day yesterday so I am going to assume that you were all having lovely family time in the sun, I know I was!

Today is a little busier so I am going to list post:-

WM on x lots (nearly through mount washmore though!)
DW on
Putting away clothes x lots
Morning routine
Tesco (lord knows why when I have been off all week I leave it until saturday morning!)
Fun in the sun
Change DS bed

Quiet here this morning. Went for picnic in park with sis/BIL yesterday. DD was an absolute, kept running off whilst taunting us with nah-nah-nah-nah-nah. Got the pushchair out so every time she ran off she was put in there, she then figured out how to weedle herself out of there and ran off again. Decided to take her home but sis asked DS if he wanted to stay for a bit because he was esperate to play cricket and he had been so good. He ended up having some auntie/uncle time and staying over night! Have no idea what to do with DD though, she is running me ragged.

nick going to the ranch sounds v exciting. As part of my job as a history teacher, I teach about the American West so I would love to do something like that!

mm straight to the top of the class for you. Fab day yesterday. Well done!

nettie playing is far better for the soul than weeding .

pa what a lovely day you've had! I am awaiting those teenage years for DS with trepidation and looks like I will need to big fat wallet too! He already has huge growth spurts now but I can still get away with cheap clothes at the mom so doesnt hurt too much!

dwm how is Daisy?

Hope everyone else is ok! Big waves to sc om mrsd linzer gormers sr muckyduckyfeetheart chairmum and anyone else I've missed.

Looks like another lovely day here so I am going to make the most of it before back to work on Monday (booooooo)! Have a lovely day everyone!

Babystep, babystep, here is your babystep! Today's step is positivity. Although I don't think I would ever write things down, I do think it is important to remind yourself how well you are doing!

No mission today as it is the weekend so enjoy some family time and the beautiful sunshine!

Morning + Meow from Daisy! Daisy is being quite good and taking her pills with some help from some posh tinned cat food (they normally have dried so its a big treat), not chewing socks too much but would like to go out so lots of pathetic meowing. sort dry washing
ironing
put it all away

Kids are playing tennis - I am on swimming pool computer then back to grindstone at home preparing for communion party tomorrow.

Feeling a bit all over the place really,
Mini glad to hear someone else has a "catfood floor" area

Nettiespagetti · 05/06/2010 12:37

Afternoon everyone.

We have cat food floor area too but it is carpeted at bottom of stairs so you almost stand in it in morning but only place where dd can't get to it and eat it!!

Just checking in to say hello. I've no list for today but have made bed, dw and been to in laws. This afternoon I am going to play in the garden and maybe cut back my 6ft rambling roses!!!

Hope you all have a lovely day xx

missbennett · 05/06/2010 18:04

Hello!

Wow! You lot exhaust me - but souds as though good time been had by all and the lovely weather made the most of!

Exhausting but lovely day yesterday.....took DD2 to London - we did Oxford/Regent St, Covent Garden and also found platform 9 and 3/4 at Kings Cross She was absolutely delightful company and talked non-stop! But it was very hot and I feel rather weary today - 'tis old age I suppose ! And had a lovely capuccino in the British Library

So today I've not done masses - shopping, washing up, routines and taken DDs out for tea and cake

Also lost half a pound at fat club

Dh has finally cleared out and got rid of old car But all the boxes of junk are now in our very small house. He has brought heavy duty shredder but is making heavy weather of it and there is masses. So the house feels horrible And the garden is looking more and more like an overgrown wilderness

AND I HAVE INVITED FRIENDS ROUND ON WEDNESDAY AS IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!! HELP, HELP AND DOUBLE HELP!

Right, deep breath. Tomorrow I will attempt a home bless so at least the house is straight-ish. And then I will see if DH will at least strim and tidy. I know it won't be homes and gardens but straight would do me!

Wish me luck, ladies

MrsDinky · 05/06/2010 18:18

Hello all, I'm back, just had a week away in Cornwall, lovely, lovely. Apart from the DCs getting black eyes, twisted ankles, badly cut knees etc!

House is chaos, still need to unpack, and am very tired, so aiming to start back with routines and lists on Monday. Also try anc catch up with the thread!

Nettiespagetti · 05/06/2010 20:34

Evening everyone

elliepac · 05/06/2010 21:25

Big waves to everyone in the meantime!

MOrning all,

I hope everyone is ok and has enjoyed the lovely weather as it has been very quiet on here the last couple of days!

nettie well done on the gardening, a task I cannot make myself do/enjoy! Enjoy the bus rally, my dad used to love those kinds of things. I remember many hours moaning at parents when a teenager about why we had to go!

mrsd cornwall sounds divine, I have never been there so am ! Hope your DC's are ok, sounds as if they have been in the wars!

missb day out with DD2 sounds lovely, can't wait till DD is old enough for us to do those mother/daughter days! Friends over on Wednesday definitely gives you something to aim at. Good Luck!

dwm how did thar big list go? DS is back today isn't he, hope he has had a good time!

sr I hope the communion part goes well and that you have a lovely day.

pa hope you enjoyed the beach!

Big waves to everyone else! Hope we are doing ok!

Quiet day here. DS seems ok this morning after last night's bug. DC's are both at a party with the CM this afternoon so will get a couple of hours peace then and am going to do my schoolwork ready for the return to work tomorrow. Most depressing news of all is that my washing machine has broken. I have spent all blardy week clearing mount washmore and had 1 load left to do and it has given up th ghost, aaaaaaargh! Having googled the error code it looks like it may be a blockage as it is wokring just not pumping out the waater. Googling also told me that I might be able to fix it myself so am going to have a go later!

So, list today looks like this:-

DW on
Morning routine
Iron DC's clothes for party (must be a special occasion as I am ironing )
schoolwork
Cook dinner
Evening routine
Watch last ever 2 episodes of 24

Have a nice day everyone!

Today's babystep is an important one hotspots. JUst 2 minutes clearing away a spot that is getting out of control in your morning/evening routine will begin to make a real difference.

No missions as it is family fly day!

Have a good one!

Hello all,

Have had a lovely long weekend here - we got back from Berlin late last night after two enjoyable if slightly exhausting days there (I think we'll leave our next city break till the DC are a bit older). The sunny weather continued today, so we went to the local open-air pool (complete with sandy "beach") this afternoon. It was absolutely packed as everyone else had had the same idea and I bumped into so many people I knew, so managed to catch up with quite a few people I hadn't seen for ages.

I'm hoping to get back on track with the routines and decluttering tomorrow, despite work still being very busy. Off to catch up with the thread now!

optimisticmumma · 06/06/2010 19:59

Hi everyone! Just reporting in as we just got back from Suffolk. Nice to catch up on the thread- you have all been sooo busy!
Slightly disasterous end of the week as DS1 has sprained his ankle and is on crutches - again - and I managed to pull a muscle in my back! I really shouldn't expect to be able to stand up from a sitting position at my age should I??!?!
House a dump, washing all over and I look like a very old woman in need of a carer...Oh well at least my lovely jobshare is working for me tomorrow whilst I try to have more treatment.

See you all in the morning...

elliepac · 06/06/2010 20:10

Evening everyone,

Welcome back om about DS but that you have jobshare to work for you tomorrow. Gives you a bit of time to catch up on life and have that back looked at!

Welcome back linzer too. Berlin sounds fabulous if a little tiring! DS has been buggin us to take him to London for a while now but we have decided to wait until DD is a little older to make it all a little easier!

Hope everyone else is ok and has had a marvellous weekend. Back to work tomorrow

Evening all,

Well, have spent most of the day tidying up/unpacking. Have managed to get 4 loads of washing done, line dried and put away, which shows what lovely weather we have had, warm and breezy. House is restored to it's normal, untidy, shabby state. DCs recovering well from all their bumps and bruises.

OM - oh dear, hope you and DS are on the mend soon

Linzer - postcards were posted on Friday. DS keeps talking about Austria, he is very interested in places and where they all are at the moment. He loved the fact that although we were staying in Cornwall you could look out the window and see Devon.

Ellie - good luck with the washing machine, have a huge pile of towels handy for the unblocking.

Waves at everyone else. Off to water the garden and make packed lunches. See you tomorrow.
